I have been having issues with my passenger airbag warning light. The issue is warning light will not go out. I took my vehicle to an Infiniti dealer for a diagnostic. Dealer found code dtc b1018 OCS unit failure. Much to my disbelief and, dealer recommends new passenger side air bag diagnoses module and lower seat frame before further diagnosis. What really angered me was the price to repair a safety issue on this vehicle that wasn't caused by an accident or repair . The quoted module price was $1275. 00, price for lower seat frame is $7695. 00. Note, this is the price for parts and didn't include labor. At that point, I didn't ask what the labor cost was because I was flabbergasted and taken aback by the the excessively high price for repair. After reading 100's of forums, many are having the same issue with their Infinities and other Nissan vehicles. Infinity and NHTSA must be aware of this massive problem and Infiniti/Nissan needs to correct this flaw in engineering at the companies expense. We as consumers who pay a lot for these vehicles should be protected. My concern is I have lupus and arthritis and have chronic pain daily and need my car for numerous doctors visits. Since my health diagnosis I haven't been able to work the past seven years and can't afford to pay over $ 9000. 00 to fix a otherwise good running vehicle but also can't afford to get into a car accident because the airbag will not deploy. Since I do have an illness, a car accident without a working airbag system my injuries or worst would be exacerbated by this Infiniti/Nissan flaw in engineering. Please advise as I need assistance with getting my car repaired.
Error code b1018 for occupant sensor unit failed. Infiniti of sarasota estimate is $11,013 to repair. Cannot justify spending that much but feel unsafe with airbag deployment. Need information on a resolution.
No apparent reason for problems. Seatbelt warning lights for both the driver and front passenger blink/remain lit due to passenger airbag module malfunction. Replaced free of charge under extended warranty at dealership. Seatbelt retractors also replaced due to slack, causing seatbelts to get caught in the door when shut.
I was stopped at red light and driver behind me did not see the light. She rear ended me at an approx speed of 30-35 mph. The force of the hit pushed my car into the one in front of me, resulting in a 4 vehicle accident. At the time of impact, my glasses came off of my face and I hit the windshield - my seat belt did not lock. The force of the crash bent the frame, destroyed the trunk, and resulted in a total loss. I sustained a moderate to sever concussion, along with whiplash and persistent headaches.
The contact owns a 2011 Infiniti G37 convertible. The contact stated while driving 20 mph attempting to avoid a squirrel, the driver slammed on the brakes and the seat belt failed to retract. The contact attempted to duplicate the failure by slamming on the brakes after accelerating and the seat belt did not catch at any point. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis and was informed that the seat belts were operating as designed and that she should not be worried since the air bag was what would save her in the event of a crash. The contact was not satisfied with that answer. The manufacturer was notified but offered no assistance. The failure and current mileage was 25,000.
Front seat belt guides on the infinity G37 convertible do not latch as required. Per page 1-17 of the 2010 infinity G37 convertible owners manual, if this seat belt guide is not securely installed the seat belt may slip and result in personal injury. I believe this is a design flaw that affects all 2010 infinity G37 convertibles. This issue has been exposed on a newly purchased vehicle with less than 1000 miles on the odometer. When a repair appointment was made on December 28, 2010 for correction of this issue the service manager at west houston infinity in houston, texas noted that this seat belt guide is a poor design and this issue surfaces on all G37 convertibles.
