1 Camshaft Position Sensor problem of the 2004 Infiniti I35

Failure Date: 08/30/2020

Engine stopped running without warning. Lost all power while driving on the road. Service engine light soon came on along with several other warning lights, engine would not restart readily and then stalled again without warning. Had to have the car towed from the road for repair. The cam shaft sensor and crankshaft sensors were replaced. This is the exact same repair conducted under the recall 03v455000 for Infiniti I35s for 2002 and 2003. Obviously this problem continued in cars produced in early 2004.

2 Camshaft Position Sensor problem of the 2003 Infiniti I35

Failure Date: 07/19/2017

I bought a 2003 infinit I35 a year ago as my first car. I have been having problems with my vehicle dying for what seems to be no reason. No warning lights would come on not even a check engine light. I was driving on the highway when it happened a week ago. While I was driving it died a total of four times. When I tried to start it back up it wouldn't turn over. It would not take a jump. No fluids were low. No cables or terminals were loose. I ended up having to get the vehicle towed. At the time it had 216,000 miles roughly. When I did research, I found that there was a recall associated with Infiniti models 2003-2004 that had faulty crankshaft and camshaft position sensors. The same symptoms that I had were matching up to the those of the recall. It was happening to those models having 113,000-225,000 roughly. When I searched with the NHTSA website and infinit I found that this was not associated with my VIN number. I then took it to a mechanic and found that in fact those same sensors were faulty causing the vehicle to function incorrectly. So now I have to wonder why then my 2003 infinit I35 was not recognized as being affected by my recall when I now have proof that the same sensors associated with this recall are in fact faulty.

4 Camshaft Position Sensor problem of the 2004 Infiniti I35

Failure Date: 02/10/2012

The I35 was hard to start, tcs, slip and check engine lights stayed on. Dealer diag. Bank 2 cam shaft pos sensor failure. This problem appeared similar to NHTSA 2003 campaign number 03v455000. Dealer stated there were no recalls for this problem in 2004 I35. The 2003 campaign report date was 04 Nov 2003. My I35 was manf. 07 oct 2003. I feel my 2004 cam shaft pos sensor should also be included in the 03v455000 or a new recall issued for it. The Infiniti dealer would not cover the cost of replacing the failed cam shaft pos sensor.
