1 Equipment problem of the 2007 Infiniti M35

Failure Date: 07/13/2021

On 7/13/21 afternoon, I parked my car in a parking garage of purdue university, located in west lafayette, in. Around 6 pm, as I was backing out of my parking spot on reverse gear and turning the steering wheel, the car seemed sluggish. So, I pressed the accelerator -- lightly, I believe . All of a sudden, the car just took off, moving backward very fast in a semicircle. It first hit the back of a parked car with its front right side and then a concrete wall with its back with tremendous force. I was alone in the car. I called my wife. She came from our home and called 911. The university police and medic arrived promptly, as did two of our friends. One friend drove my wife and me to iu health hospital emergency in lafayette, in, and the other friend waited at the accident spot for aaa to come. Apparently, aaa came a little later and towed the car to Nissan of lafayette body shop. Based on the x-rays and CT scans done at the emergency, the attending physician's assistant told me -- apparently, after consulting with a neurosurgeon -- that I suffered two fractures in a neck bone ("transverse process of cervical vertebra"). She gave me a hard collar and asked me to wear it 24 hours a day, expect when taking a shower, for 6 to 8 weeks. She also asked me to see a neurosurgeon, whom I will see on 7/26/21. The body shop person I spoke with next day told me that the car would likely be totaled (the car is still there). Since then, I have been thinking why the car moved so fast and also searching the web to find out any reason for it. Could it be an instance of the "sudden acceleration" problem? I must say that I have been driving Infiniti cars for many years. I have been very pleased with them so far, as well as the service provided by Infiniti dealers, especially my current one, dreyer & reinbold Infiniti of indianapolis. I have decided to inform NHTSA of this accident so that no other person driving an Infiniti car meets with an accident like this.

2 Equipment problem of the 2007 Infiniti M35

Failure Date: 05/16/2021

I have a 2007 Infiniti M35s that has been garaged kept since purchase. My dashboard has started to crack and exude a shiny, sticky, messy substance. I do not know whether this substance is toxic to the touch or my respiratory system. I have never used any type of cleaner or solvents on my dashboard, only a microfiber towel and water. I'm not sure how to answer how my safety or the safety of others is at risk since I don't know what the particular substance is. Secondly does the fragile state of the dashboard put me and my passengers at greater risk of injury with the discharge of an airbag. I have read several complaints where other Infiniti owners are experiencing the same issue with Infiniti vehicles circa 2006 - 2008. Infiniti should do the right thing and fix this problem!!.

3 Equipment problem of the 2007 Infiniti M35

Failure Date: 04/25/2019

Electrical fault in a sensor that I believe causes the engine to shut down. This issue was reported to Infiniti but not corrected; although, Nissan issued a voluntary recall citing a sensor failure that can lead to engine shutdown.

4 Equipment problem of the 2007 Infiniti M35

Failure Date: 06/27/2018

My drive shaft broke while I was on the highway driving at 65mph. The drive shaft then bang a massive dent in the engine. 1200$ I was lucky enough to be alive to report this.

5 Equipment problem of the 2006 Infiniti M35

Failure Date: 05/25/2018

About a month ago, I was driving my car home from the store and the engine stalled as I was about to pull into the parking space. I thought the battery was dead, so I called a family member to give me a jump. The car started back up and drove fine for about two days. Then it happened again, I was on my way home from picking the kids up from school and the engine stalled again, right in the middle of the highway. The car would still be on but it would not move at all. After turning the car off and waiting for a few minutes, the car started back up. I had it towed to aaa car care center, where they determined that I may need to have the camshaft and crankshaft sensors replaced. However, after doing some research online and reading countless complaints and forum posts from people who were having the same problem, I decided not to pay the $751. I read many posts from other Infiniti owners whose car would cut off while being operated, who paid tons of money to get their sensors replaced, only to have the same problem return. I drove my car home from aaa but not without incident. The car cut off in the middle of the interstate with my six year old daughter in the backseat. Very dangerous. After waiting for a few minutes, I was able to start the car again and drive the rest of the way home. I took the car to a local auto zone to check the battery and it was fine. A few days later, I had the car towed to the Nissan dealership to have my airbag replaced due to the recent (takata) airbag recall. While there, I had them do a diagnostic on the car. They found a bunch of codes, but could not tell me what the problem is with my car. I am terrified to drive the car for fear of getting into an accident. I don't know if the engine is going to stall on the interstate while I'm driving at 60 mph. This is obviously a common problem among Infiniti owners.

Failure Date: 06/03/2017

Hello, just want to let you guys know that my car has a serious problem. I have taken to inifiniti and also carmax, which is where I bought my car. My car tends to accelerate when I drive down hill. The rpm in my car tends to go from 1 or 2 and it jumps to 4 or 5. For the past 2 years I've been telling them that there is something wrong with the car. Yet they tell me that it's me accelerating the car, or that the can't duplicate the problem. I don't know what to do with my car. The is up to date with all the recalls.

Dash board starts to get very sticky and is peeling off.

9 Equipment problem of the 2006 Infiniti M35

Failure Date: 03/01/2015

Takata recall vehicle purchased around 2009 in florida. Airbag safety indicator light flashing sometime around early 2015. Took vehicle for safety inspection and was told that upon deployment of the air bag, excessive internal pressure is likely to cause inflator to rupture. Contacted manufacturer for coverage under recall, Nissan / Infiniti refused to replace the airbag under recall, despite possibility that, in the event of a crash involving deployment of the air bag, inflator is likely to rupture with peices of metal projected into the vehicle occupants and potentially resulting in serious injury or death. I would like the manufacturer to cover this safety concern for my vehicle under recall # 15v226000, recall # 14v701000 or any other related recalls. Please note that the March 1, 2015 date of occurrence is approximate.

10 Equipment problem of the 2007 Infiniti M35

Failure Date: 11/05/2014

Drivers side seat and console was touching. Been that way 2 weeks. Today , it just collapsed when I sat down. Was dark, couldn't tell what was going on with seat. I happened to be just getting into to car and start. If I would have been going faster, with traffic. . This could have been a wreck or something bad. When it collapsed , seat just dropped down quick! this is obviously a problem with these model of Infinitis. This is a serious hazard. Needs recall!.

11 Equipment problem of the 2007 Infiniti M35

Failure Date: 10/07/2014

Lift struts/cylinders for hood gave way and hood came down on person working on car. Lifted back up, put down and opened again and noticed that the hood would not stay open. This car does not provide a "stick" option to hold the hood. . Only the lift struts/cylinders hold the hood open and they are not working.

12 Equipment problem of the 2008 Infiniti M35

Failure Date: 08/14/2014

When in sunlight or extreme heat the dashboard gets sticky and shiny. It appears as if it is melting. We filed a report with Infiniti consumer affairs. We were told that it wasn't a problem associated with any parts from our VIN number. The problem is getting worse and the glare on the windshield is a safety issue when driving.

13 Equipment problem of the 2006 Infiniti M35

Failure Date: 08/13/2014

The dashboard in my vehicle is melting. There is a glare that blinds me and the dash above the steering wheel melts so bad and gets so hot it burns my fingers while driving. I try to avoid touching it but I forget sometimes. I shouldn't have to avoid getting burned while driving.

14 Equipment problem of the 2008 Infiniti M35

Failure Date: 03/15/2014

Dashboard is shiny, sticky & gummy in a number of areas. The vehicle is one owner (owned by a retired person), has always been garage kept & does not sit outside in the elements. It has been meticulously maintained & the dash has never had any substances (I. E. , protectants) applied. The local Infiniti dealer's service department inspected the dash & stated that the material was breaking down & the dash needs to be replaced. A case was initiated with Infiniti USA that resulted in the manufacturer declining to accept any responsibility due to the vehicle no longer being within the original warranty period. The repair has not yet been completed due to the high cost involved.

15 Equipment problem of the 2006 Infiniti M35

Failure Date: 08/03/2009

The navigation (map) screen turns off when a phone call is placed or received. Infiniti went to great lengths to create a system that allows for both hands free navigation and phone use. However some ridiculous reason they opted to replace the map screen with a screen that tells you your on the phone. This requires one to get lost if following the navigation or pull off to the side of the road until your off the phone. As far as I know this problem still exists in the 2009 model as well.

16 Equipment problem of the 2006 Infiniti M35

Failure Date: 07/22/2009

On July, 22, 2009, my 2006 Infiniti M35x accelerated out of control. I had parked the car and it took off , went through a metal fence, through some bushes and pulled a pole from the ground. The pole lodged at the bottom of the car and stopped the car which had not responded to the brakes. I was close to a brick building and would have been seriously injured or killed (according to the police) if the car had kept on going. A policemen who came to my rescue was convinced that I had accelerated instead of braking and wrote that in his police report. With what is happening with Toyota, I feel vindicated because others have had the same reaction from the police. When their cars have gone out of control. I notified Infiniti of the accident and they were willing to send someone to look at the car, but they insisted on the police report. Of course, the report put all the responsibility with me and I didn't fight it until I started hearing from victims of the Toyota debacle. It never came to pass, as someone was willing to buy my damaged car and I was happy to get rid of it, as I never would have felt comfortable driving it again. Several months later, I started to hear about Toyota's problems and it struck a chord. I think the Infinitis need to check their cars and it remains to be seen if this problem has happened to other Infiniti drivers. Other people who had driven my car were not comfortable with it, their criticism being that it was too peppy and hard to control. I did not repair the car, but used the insurance and the sale amount toward buying a new car.
