2 Power Train problem of the 2010 Infiniti M35

Failure Date: 01/31/2014

I was driving on I-5 north CA going between lathrop and stockton where the speed limit is 70 mph when my vehicle's engine seemed to shift into neutral. I barely had enough power to get off the fwy ramp where it was safe to park. I then had the car towed to an Infiniti dealer and had them check the car. After the car was hooked up to a diagnostic machine, I was told that the right mass air flow sensor-22680-7s00a needed to be replaced. I was also told that when this sensor went bad, the engine goes into a neutral mode or close to shutdown mode to prevent damage to other parts of the engine. Once the engine problem was diagnosed, the part was replaced and the car functioned fine. What surprised me was that the service technicians were aware of the problem. This causes me great concern because there was no warning lights to indicate a problem before, during, or even after the engine malfunctioned. The car had to be hooked up to a machine to detect what was wrong. I was so frighten when this occurred because I could have been rear ended as a result of the car losing power in a matter of seconds. I replaced the left mass air flow sensor because I don't want to ever be in that same situation again. I don't feel safe driving this vehicle!.

3 Power Train problem of the 2007 Infiniti M35

Failure Date: 09/17/2013

During the town driving car lost complete power. All the light on dash board including "mil" light came on. As a result I had to get emergency repairs costing $ 600. I also took car to dealership where to reprogram throttle position sensor cost me over $120. 00. Two weeks later I get notice from infinity that this a known issue and they will come up with solution for this problem. To this date I have not heard anything for either reimbursement or a fix. .

4 Power Train problem of the 2009 Infiniti M35

Failure Date: 02/03/2012

As I was entering I-295 in attleboro, MA as I accelerated to enter the highway the car started bucking and would not go faster than 40mph. I had to manually shift the car to find a gear that would not have the car buck. In 4th gear and a speed below 45mph it was ok to drive. But I had to continue on the interstate at only 40 mph. It turned out to be that both mass air flow sensors failed. This failure led to a very dangerous situation had someone been behind me that could have led to an accident, or had I been on the highway and the car started bucking possibly a multiple car accident. The failure of both mass air flow sensors leads me to believe this is not only something that I have experienced. This is a defect that may lead to serious injury.
