Seats Problems of Infiniti M35 - part 1

I was driving home recently and the back of my seat near the base gave out on me, the lower back/bottom raising motor was working but the seat was not going up. Upon inspection I found that the welds on the seat bracket had broken, going online and searching found me countless forums of seat brackets breaking during driving. Two main issues with this 1. I almost lost control due to the sudden drop 2. If I was to get into a collision the seat is not secure whatsoever. This is not an uncommon issue and I am astonished no recall has been given sources of similarity [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2006 Infiniti M35. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to Infiniti of orange park (6999 blanding blvd, jacksonville, FL 32244) to be repaired under an air bags recall. After picking up the vehicle, the contact became aware that the seat had been pushed back all the way while the recall repair was being performed. The contact was unable to adjust the driver's side front seat forward or up and down, which made driving the vehicle difficult. The contact was informed that there was a cost to repair the seat. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

Driver seat suddenly fell down and toward the left. This happened as I entered the car while it was parked. Now the seat sits low to the floor and tilted to the side. Seat can be easily moved side to side by hand. Seat lift system seems non functional.

My dashboard is cracked all over the seats are faded and the shocks and struts are bad at 120,000 miles.

I just bought this car and when I took it out to drive the driver seat was sitting all the way to the floor so I tried raising the seat and noticed it wading moving so I got out to look while trying to raise it and noticed metal trying to come through the leather I don't know what's going on and I hope this doesn't cost me a lot of money to fix.

Weld broke on the driver side seat that now allows the seat to lift up. This happened in 2015. The seat will also no longer move forward. (2020) this model does not have replacement gear which means the whole seat assembly needs to be replaced since it contains the rail track. My wife is much shorter than I am and can no longer drive the vehicle.

While driving the vehicle, the driver seat suddenly and without warning, fell to the floor. I bought the vehicle to a mechanic and he said the railing gave way and broke. I checked online and this problem seems typical. I purchase this vehicle new. The vehicle currently only has about 86000 miles. Why is there not a recall.

Ever since the purchase of 00the vehicle, the driver seat slides forward 3 to 4 inches when braking when traveling forward, every time. This has caused the driver's feet to slip off the brake pedal, releasing the brake and almost colliding with other vehicles or objects ahead.

During normal operation, the seat has failed in it's original design intent. I believe that the a failure in some component under the seat caused stress on the pivot point for up-down movement in the seat and over an extended period of time the point finally sheared. I believe the extensive stress was caused because of the automatic seat movement that occurs when the driver enters and exits the vehicle the bracket which allows the seat to move up and down with the powered control has failed on both sides of the left front bucket seat. The seat now moves freely forward and back and poses a serious safety risk to myself and anyone else who might be driving the vehicle. This puts me in a terrible position because as a concerned consumer I have to worry about the fact that an accident could be fatal due to component failures. Should I move forward with getting rid of the vehicle, either by selling it to another person or trading in the vehicle, I put someone else in risk and/or will take a huge loss on the value of the vehicle because of the condition which was caused by poor design and/or quality testing. This is a serious issue and needs to be remedied by Nissan USA immediately!.

The driver seat rear bracket broke under normal use and has resulted in the seat not being securely attached to the frame. I was entering the parked vehicle when it broke. As a result the seat flips forward when stopping which is extremely unsafe. Judging by the hundreds (m/b thousands of complaints online) this is clearly a major manufacturing defect that Nissan should repair at no cost to owners.

As I drove on the highway and adjusted my driver's seat upwards, I heard something pop and it sunk down completely. From that moment on I had to raise myself up to be able to look over the dashboard. My sight is definitely impaired and makes driving unsafe. I also found that this is a real hazard in case of an accident. Since the chair is now detached. The estimate to fix this is around $1100. This is definitely a manufacturer's defect and dangerous. I think this should be under a recall because of the danger when in an accident.

The contact stated that driver side seat failed it was observed that the seat looked to be sitting improperly/ shifted and when the seat was attempted to be adjusted the seat failed causing the seat to sit on the ground without warning. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (Infiniti suitland 4800 branch Ave, suitland, MD, 20746) where it was diagnosed that the frame / lever failed and that the whole seat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and made aware of the failure, and informed the contact that there was no recall and that the replacement would be an out of pocket expense. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000. Jb.

The two brackets that support the seat back on the drivers seat have snapped / sheared. The seat back is no longer supported and the seat base raising mechanism no longer works. The problem started on the right side and after a couple of weeks the left side failed.

Driving on the highway last week, I felt the need to adjust my seat a little bit. I tried to lift the seat up and I head a pop sound and I immediately sunk into the seat and unable to see the hood of the car but the dash. I managed to find the nearest exit and realized the motor to lift the seat was only lifting one side of the seat. I could lift it with my hand but falls on the floor when I let it go. Lucky no car was in front or closely behind me. I tried to get it fixed and I have an invoice for over $1000. That is not fair.

Drivers side seat was raising and lowering on only 1 side. I got into the car this morning and heard a popping noise. I noticed that the back of the seat would not raise up. I can physically push the seat forward from the back and the rear of the seat rises up and is not attached to anything.

The left front driver seat began moving slightly fwd/back when braking and accelerating at @ 75k miles. Then that assembly just broke (seat settled) as I got in the car one day and I can no longer move it back and forth or up/down at all. So rail broke and then the seat motor died. I have read of so many of these stories with this year vehicle. Upon research, I found they only used this assy from 5/2006 to 9/2007. I have to believe Nissan/Infiniti knew they had an issue with this design.

The bolt under the drivers seat that secures the seat to the floor of the car snapped so that now my seat is no longer securely bolted down. The seat cannot be adjusted.

The dashboard is cracking the driver seat bind with center console passenger air bag malfunction.

A weld broke on the drivers seat base, this caused the seat to lean towards the console and as the seat was raised it got worse. Also when you grabbed the head rest and pushed it towards the front of the car the seal would then lift up. I bought a new seat base ( $ 1,000. 00 + taxes ) and have replaced the base. I cannot say exactly when it happened as I left the car with my brother in-law to drive while I was on holidays and noticed the seat was sitting crooked when he picked me up from the airport. The car has 70,132 miles on it.

Just purchased this vehicle with just under 53k mileage, 1 owner and seemed to be well kepted. Well of course after driving this 2007 M35x (w/ bose & climate control with memory control) around, I noticed to be adjusting my back & bottom more & more to get a comfortable position while driving. . . Well, come to find out, the entire seat (mainly it's the bottom, back right) is leaning into the center console! I can't even drive the m thing for more then a few minutes before my right buttcheek, sciatic nerve and lower right back start to really really hurt and ache! to the point where I don't even want to drive! also, seat moves back n forth when stopping/going! I contacted dealer where purchased (Infiniti of scottsdale) & it doesn't seem like they're going to be any help unless I probably fork over 100s of my hard earned money! salesman blames it on being 9-10yr old car (I guess he doesn't believe in used vehicles but will sell them? nor believes in an Infiniti product where he works!) I offered for him to drive it for 30min and see how his back and a$$ feels after! (had no reply). This is an absolute safety hazard as well as a health issue also! how can the Infiniti manufacturer deny so many complaints when this seems to be a very big problem with this model!? I can't wait til I get this issie resolved/fixed because it seems to be a decent car! other than this very big issue with the most important spot in the entire car! the driver seat! it's almost unbelievable that after reading up on here that there are so many people with this problem/issue! don't be afraid, post a claim if this has happened or if you're dealing with this issue now! please! this needs to catch there attention! maybe I should send a chiropractor & surgery bill for thousands of $$ because this seat is going to cause me big back/thigh/leg problems as its already doing! will try to upload pics.

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Infiniti M35. The contact stated that while driving at 5 mph, the front driver's side seat fractured off the tracks. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 117,000. Oo.

As I approached a stop light I felt the vehicle seat move forward on its own. Seems detached from seat rails.

While driving to work and proceeding to a stop light my seat just feel on one side and took a dip. When this happened it definitely startled me. I didn't know what to do and could barely drive. I was able to safely get to my destination, which happened to be 2 minutes away at that point and look at the seat and it turned out to be nothing I can do. Now the seat lifts and drops on its own.

The driver's seat slides forward when braking and backward when accelerating. The seat will also rock back and forth. This is happens all the time and at any speed.

Basically, the driver's seat moves freely when slapping the brakes or accerilate. I also have checked the seat motor before because the seat doesn't move upwards and downwards. The technician told me that the motor works but the track of the seat needs to be fixed. I looked up to many complaints about the same problem. It seems a factory defect. Please let me know if this is a factory defect or not.

Driver's seat slides forward about 1/2 inch when braking, then slides back when accelerating. Just bought the car, everything else is good. Never expected a chronic and dangerous seat problem like this on a high end luxury vehicle. It seems many other M35/45 owners have the same problem. It is ridiculous there is not a recall for the safety hazard.

The seat detached from the track and slid dangerously while driving. The plastic near the floorboard has collapsed and makes clicking sounds when the seat is moved.

Drivers side seat and console was touching. Been that way 2 weeks. Today , it just collapsed when I sat down. Was dark, couldn't tell what was going on with seat. I happened to be just getting into to car and start. If I would have been going faster, with traffic. . This could have been a wreck or something bad. When it collapsed , seat just dropped down quick! this is obviously a problem with these model of Infinitis. This is a serious hazard. Needs recall!.

Driver's seat collapsed and came off tracks while car was being driven. Defective welds determined to be cause requiring replacement of front adjuster assembly; part # 87450-eh00a. Cost of >$1200 parts and labor to install; this is a problem reported previously to NHTSA on numerous occasions. Dealer service department stats that weld failure causes seat to collapse. . This weld failure is a serious safety related matter that is not the result of abuse. . The has been acknowledged by repair personnel at dealership that carried out the repair. This is the second M35 I have owned that has had the same issue.

While braking I feel the seat slids forward. Then when accelerated the seat slids back. I contacted the dealer, they are aware of the issue, but will not repair it because it is out of warranty. This is a safety issue, as it could cause the driver to engage the brake or gas peddle greater than anticipated due to the movement of the seat.

I purchased a 2007 M35x sedan in February 2014. I discovered today June 2, 2014, that I have an issue with my drivers' seat. It leans inward toward the center console, and apparently this is a reoccurring issue with this year and model. It is a safety issue, and I am requesting feedback from NHTSA. Gov on this particular problem. I would like to know if there is a recall for this year and model, or what if anything is being done to resolve the issue.
