1 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2019

2003 Infiniti M45 with approximately 106,000 miles. Car will stall suddenly at highway or city road speeds necessitating putting car into neutral or pulling over to restart. Previously, after this had happened, a code for faulty crankshaft position sensor was recovered, and both the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors were replaced with aftermarket new parts from duralast. Car no longer has a check engine light code associated with the stalling, but the stalling persists. Also, when car is cooled to ambient temperature, it may take 2-3 ignition attempts to start the car and occasionally a backfire/misfire is heard during failed attempts. If car has sat for multiple days without being driven, it may take 10-15 attempts to start the vehicle.

2 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2016

While turning left with on coming traffic the engine died. The check engine light came on and the communications center said it was emissions related. The car did restart, the warning light remains on, and after a short drive there was a burning smell and heat coming from the car. The local Nissan dealer will only work on it as customer pay, and will not do any recall work, said I need to go to the infinity dealer 2 hours away. I just notified Nissan corp today of the issue and waiting for their response.

4 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2015

The contact owns a 2003 Infiniti M45. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start and the check engine warning light illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the crank shaft position sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling). The failure mileage was 87,831. Updated 8/21/cn updated 09/09/lj.

5 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/09/2012

At about 60 speed on the highway, all engine lights came on and the engine turned off. The car steering wheel locks up. I pulled over to the shoulder and successfully restarted the car after about 10 attempts. The car started again and ran well for another 10 minutes. Again, at about 60 miles per hour, the engine halted and I had to change 3 lanes to get to a shoulder. The cars behind me were coming at full speed while my speed was going down fast. There seems to be a recall for this model year, make, and model, but Infiniti dealership is telling me that my VIN # is not included in the recall. I have seen many people online with the same exact problem.

6 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2012

Even though fuel gauge shows a full tank of gas the tank was actually empty and I ran out of gas. This was very inconvenient but more importantly could have been very dangerous for every passenger in the car, had I been on the freeway or other roads traveling at a high rate of speed to suddenly be out of gas. One other related issue is the engine service light. Tried to get the vehicle smogged but was told that a few codes came up on the meter. One was camshaft position sensor. One other one showed the fuel sending unit/sensor to be faulty. In regards to this issue, it would seem that just replacing the sending unit may not be a guarantee that the fuel gauge will properly function. Car can not be smogged without these items corrected at high cost. These issues need to be addressed properly from the Infiniti/Nissan company. Thank you.

7 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2011

The contact owns a 2003 Infiniti M45. The contact stated that the vehicle would exhibit an abnormal sound and was resistant to the braking attempts with the illumination of the check engine warning light. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, but advised the contact that the VIN did not associate with the recall under NHTSA campaign id number: 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 63,800.

8 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2010

The contact owns a 2003 Infiniti M45. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was then taken to a local mechanic, who stated that the crank position sensor and the cam position sensor needed to be replaced. The mechanic replaced both sensors. After replacing both sensors, the failure continued. The contact took the vehicle to another mechanic and had a different cam position sensor replaced. The failure did not recur. After the repair, the contact noticed the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling) and called the manufacturer. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 139,000.
