Engine Shut Off Without Warning problems of the 2006 Infiniti M45

Three problems related to engine shut off without warning have been reported for the 2006 Infiniti M45. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Engine Shut Off Without Warning problem

Failure Date: 09/23/2017

I was driving on a main street going 50 miles when my engine complete shut off without warning. Everything locked up, steering and breaks were hard to manage. I was lucky enough to coast to a side street. There was a recall 11/17/2003 -03v45500 it also says included are vehicles involved in 01v357 I called Infiniti and they said my VIN excluded my car from that recall. It was towed to a repair shop and the diagnostic came back p0304 camshaft position sensor.

2 Engine Shut Off Without Warning problem

Failure Date: 01/27/2017

In the past couple days my vehicle shuts off without warning while driving. It shut down while coming to a stop at a red light, also while on the highway slowing down for a toll. I put the car in park and restart the car when I try to pull off again it jerks a couple times and then go. Also, after a restart the steering becomes stiff and its much harder to turn the vehicle as if the power steering is affected. The symptoms align with a previous recall (recall 13v430000 engine stall concern). I contacted Infiniti consumer affairs, they advised the previous owner had the recall issue repaired about 2 years ago for the previous recall (replace the accelerator pedal assembly and reprogram the engine control module). These current symptoms seem to align with the previous symptoms.

3 Engine Shut Off Without Warning problem

Failure Date: 05/26/2014

Whilst driving on the road going approximately 45mph the car's engine shut off without warning directly in the middle of a busy intersection narrowly making it across without incident, the car completely was off. The car would not start until 4 tries later. I drove the car towards the dealership and the car shut off again at about 50 mph causing no power steering, power brakes or warning - I noticed this when the car had no power or response when depressing the accelerator. I was able to coast safely into the emergency lane and retry to start the car again this time 3 tries started it back up. I then proceeded to call a tow truck and had it towed to the dealer, they inspected the car and said that, one of the "crankshaft position sensors", was bad and replaced it. 1 week later the same thing happened again, this time nearly causing an accident when on the highway at 60+ mph, it was like one minute your going 60mph then nothing, you have no acceleration, power brakes or steering, I had to force cars to evade me as I coasted with no power or engine into the emergency lane. Had it towed again to the dealer and the problem was again another "crankshaft position sensors", I had them replace them all at $1,100 in total. Infiniti/Nissan of north America must recall these sensors! they should not be failing and causing these dangerous symptoms, god forbid someone is crossing traffic when the sensors fail and get t-boned and die or get seriously injured.
