I was driving on a main street going 50 miles when my engine complete shut off without warning. Everything locked up, steering and breaks were hard to manage. I was lucky enough to coast to a side street. There was a recall 11/17/2003 -03v45500 it also says included are vehicles involved in 01v357 I called Infiniti and they said my VIN excluded my car from that recall. It was towed to a repair shop and the diagnostic came back p0304 camshaft position sensor.
I had purchased my M45 2006 Infiniti used Feb 20,2016 the car drove good everything worked well no problems at all. I did noticed the check engine light came on I took the car back to metro Honda which is where I got it from as used. The checked it out the light went off but came back on and stay. July of 2016 is when the car would just lose power cut off while driving etc. The car would take several minutes to start back up. The problem got more hecked because the car cut off one night my children and I was driving right on the middle of the road and a 18 wheeler was behind us I was able to come to a stop safely but was in the middle of the road which was a bridge. I had the car tested it came back as my cam and crank shaft sensor had those replaced not even been 2 weeks and the go still act as if no gas is getting to engine and still cuts off this is usafe it can cause someone to even be killed. I am so scared to go long distances because I'm scared the car will just loose all power. I took the car to Infiniti they couldn't even tell me what the problem was I also looked online and seen at repair pal where there was a recall on the crank shaft and cam sensor as well as fuel pump gas pedal and the recent one of the air bags. As well as a electric problem and all this was. Back in December of 2003 the only thing that was replaced on this car was the gas pedal. Something has to be done Infiniti needs to recall all this on the M45 sports 2006 I feel helpless and hopeless because I don't even know if my children and I will get in this car and make it back home alive. Something needs to be done.
I was driving my car on interstate at 70mph and engine stalled, all electrical systems shut off, power steering, power brakes, vdc and abs lights came on along with service engine soon. This was a very scary situation at highway speeds. I pulled through traffic and made it to side of highway. The engine was barely idling and running very rough. The car was turned off. I then attempted to re-start vehicle, and it would turn over, but not ignite. After several minutes and several attempts, the car engine started again. I immediately got off the interstate and took less congested roads home. The next day I drove to a car repair shop for computer diagnostic testing of service engine light. They told me the code reported a pair of malfunctioning "cam position sensors". It is inexcusable for a luxury automotive maker to have catastrophic risk exposure to driver, occupants, and other highway travelers due to a sensor failure! I called local Infiniti dealership and they immediately recognized my cars problem, and then said my year is not covered under any voluntary service campaign or recall.
At about 60 speed on the highway, all engine lights came on and the engine turned off. The car steering wheel locks up. I pulled over to the shoulder and successfully restarted the car after about 10 attempts. The car started again and ran well for another 10 minutes. Again, at about 60 miles per hour, the engine halted and I had to change 3 lanes to get to a shoulder. The cars behind me were coming at full speed while my speed was going down fast. There seems to be a recall for this model year, make, and model, but Infiniti dealership is telling me that my VIN # is not included in the recall. I have seen many people online with the same exact problem.
