First instance: while driving on the highway going 60mph my car powered down, preventing me from controlling the car. The gauges and lights inside the car went dark and mph went to 0. I lost electrical power and after 1 minute the car is back to normal. Second instance: as I was pulling into a driveway and went over a bump the car lost power and powered down, I naturally pressed the gas before I understood what was wrong, the car powers back up as I'm pressing the gas and caused me to almost hit another car.
-when braking while hybrid and engine system are attemping to determine the power draw the vehicle will propel forward increasing momentum of vehicle rather than braking. -vehicle is available for inspection. -this issue can cause collision due to the sudden undesired propulsion of the vehicle, as well as addition unnecssary use of the braking system. -dealer states this is normal condition. -vehicle has only been inspected by dealer. -there are no warning signs, indicators, or alerts. Issue first started around 35,000 miles. -in addition the drivetrain might also affect the ability to propel forward. While in slow speeds (10 mph and below) the vehicle the vehicle will stutter making take off difficult from complete stop. Additionally, vehicle stutters just the same while braking to come to a stop (10 mph and below) making it difficult to navigate a safe stop.
On several occasions while driving my car, it has locked up on me. I have taken the car back to the dealership three times for this same issue. The last time I took it in because my car locked up on me after coming off an highway and I was hit by another car. I took it back to Infiniti who claimed they could not duplicate this issue. Even though I pointed them to scores and scores of similar issues being reported on the internet. Infiniti's response was "anyone can write anything on the internet". I thought this comment was insensitive and downright ridiculous. Even though anyone can write anything on the internet, most people would not get on the internet to complain about a problem with their car that was not true - what would they get out of it??Infiniti's cavalier attitude has shocked me since my family have bought five Infinitis from them over the years and have never had these types of complaint. Additionally this type of issue could kill folks! is Infiniti trying to balance lives against a recall that's needed. . . . . . I am shocked and apalled!!!!!!!!!!!!.
I live in a one family house with an attached garage. My wife parked the car, with 1/3 of a tank of gas,in our garage about 6:30 pm on August 17. She thought she had pushed the button to turn off the engine, and exited the car taking the Smart key with her. About 9 the next morning, while walking my dog, I felt heat coming from the garage and opened the door. It was very hot to touch. I then touched the car and burned my hand. I called our local fire department and they pulled the car out of the garage. The car was so hot, a cd in the door compartment melted. The firemen explained that my wife and I and our dog, could very easily have been killed by carbon monoxide and the entire structure could have burned from the heat. I have since learned that what happened to me is a common occurrence and people have died as a result. Even if the Smart key is not near the car, it will continue to run until it is out of gas.
