The contact owns a 2000 Infiniti Qx4. The fuel filler pipe has a large hole due to rust, which caused fuel to leak out of it when filling up the fuel tank. The contact was unaware of the defect until he received a recall notice from Nissan. Within the same week of receiving the notice, the failure began. He called his local Nissan dealer to schedule a repair appointment, but was informed that they were not authorized to repair the recall. He called the main corporation and was informed that he needed to take the vehicle to the main Nissan dealer that was approximately 160 miles round trip. The contact stated that he could not drive the vehicle that far. The recall number was unknown. The failure mileage was 110,000 and current mileage was 115,000.
