At the time of the incident, I was taking a left hand turn into a driveway going approximately 5-10mph when I heard a "popping" sound come from the right side of the car as I was turning. After further investigation, the sound would occur when taking a right or left turn, either accelerating or not. I felt incredibly unsafe driving it. Took it for an inspection at a trusted mechanic on 7/29/13, he test drove it and deemed it unsafe to drive. I was told by the mechanic that he could not repair it because it was a manufacturing issue due to a lot of corrosion under the car and the work needed to be done by the dealership. Towed to the dealership on 7/30/13, dealership will not fix it, says it is not a manufacturing issue. Rewind to April 20th, 2011, Qx4 2002 recalled in a number of states including massachusetts, original recall date: 4/20/11 for corrosion problems due to road salt and snow/water. The recall id states the consequences of this corrosion will be that "the strut housing may crack and pull away from the inner hood ledge assembly. This may lead to grinding noises, increased steering effort, and possibly steering column to break, resulting in the loss of steering control, which could result in a crash. " back in the winter of 2011-2012, took the car to the dealership because the vehicle was part of the recall. I was told by the dealership that the corrosion problem was fixed and the car was safe to drive. Now I have a dealership that refuses responsibility for an outstanding corrosion problem, a claim with Infiniti that is going no where and a car I cannot drive because it cannot be fixed.
