1 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2019

Fuel gauge shows 1/4 tank but it is empty. This caused the vehicle to stall on the highway. Very dangerous situation could have occurred. Was able to find safety beside the highway but thankful it did not happen in the middle of a busy highway.

2 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2017

I am having an issue with the fuel gauge on my 2005 Infiniti Qx56. The fuel gauge is not reading correctly. It stops reading correctly once it reaches about half a tank of gas. I was driving on the freeway at night and I ran out of gas. This was a very scary situation because I had my kids in the car with me and at the time I had no idea why the vehicle completely shut off because my meter was showing that I had half a tank of gas. I took the vehicle to a mechanic the next day and he was able to tell me after a few days of me taking it by the shop to get a reading, that their was a problem with the fuel gauge reading which meant that the tank would have to be dropped to fix the problem. I later read up of common issues with the vehicle and saw that this was a common issue and that there was a recall for the same issue. I contacted my local dealership and I was told that their was no recall for my vehicle. This is a very serious issue and it could have caused a serious accident. I would like for my vehicle to be added to the recall list so that this problem can be taken care of since there are several vehicles with the same make and model with the exact same issue.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 07/31/2017

The contact owns a 2005 Infiniti Qx56. While driving approximately 60 mph, the fuel gauge displayed half a tank; however, the vehicle ran out of fuel. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 10v074000 (fuel system, other). The contact called the manufacturer and was informed that the VIN was not included in recall and nothing could be done. The approximate failure mileage was 136,000.

4 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2014

Fuel gauge indicate 1/4 tank during my drive down the freeway during slight rush hour. Car engine shut off while I was in the third lane of the freeway. An accident occurred from rubber necking. Infiniti of elk grove couldn't diagnose it right away and the car died 2 more times, once more on the freeway, and was lucky to glide off the freeway with no power steering. After having it towed 3 times to Infiniti, they finally diagnosed the fuel sensor after we researched the problem and told them what to check. Checked all recalls and this was listed as a problem but Infiniti refuse to cover this defect. After owning a Qx56, fx35 and g35, the rudeness of the repair manager left a really bad taste.

5 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2014

Without any warning, the car shut off rendering the power steering and power brakes useless, making the car very difficult to stop and control. The fuel indicator was around a quarter of a tank. Come to find out the car ran out of fuel without any warning. Contacted the Infiniti dealer (dreyer & reinbold) and the national Nissan/Infiniti number (case#15093894). Both said there was no recall and they couldn't help me. It's a very dangerous situation to encounter and I'm just warning drivers of this car and Infiniti's lack of responsibility for this defect.

6 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 04/29/2014

The contact owns a 2005 infinity Qx56. The contact stated that although the fuel gauge indicated that the fuel tank was one-quarter full, the vehicle stalled without warning due to there not being any fuel in the fuel tank. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 10v074000(fuel system). The contact stated that the vehicle exhibited the same failure that was listed in the recall consequence. The failure mileage was 134,000. The VIN was not available.

7 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

The contact owns a 2005 Infiniti Qx56. The contact stated that although the fuel gauge indicated that the fuel tank was one-quarter full, the vehicle stalled without warning due to there not being any fuel in the fuel tank. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and no solution was offered. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number 10v074000(fuel system). The contact stated that the vehicle exhibited the same defect that was listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 195,000.

8 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2012

I have a 2005 infinity Qx56 and recently the vehicle has stalled out while on the freeway because of the running out of gas when the fuel gauge is showing over a 1/4 tank still remaining. Contacted infinity and informed them of NHTSA campaign id number: 10v074000 which says "the instrument panel fuel gauge may inaccurately display that the vehicle still has some fuel, typically about one quarter tank, when the fuel tank is empty" although my vehicle matches identically to the proper make model and year of the recall they state that my VIN is not included with the recall. I do believe this is a major safety issue since my wife was accelerating onto the freeway recently in front of a semi truck when the vehicle stalled out and the semi had to take evasive maneuvers into another lane of traffic which almost caused a serious crash on interstate-94.
