Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problems of the 2008 Infiniti QX56

The contact owns a 2008 Infiniti Qx56. While the contact was driving approximately 30 mph the vehicle stalled without warning. The fuel gauge indicated that there was a half gallon of gasoline in the fuel tank. The vehicle would not restart, and it was towed to an authorized dealer. The technician stated that there was a recall regarding the fuel system; NHTSA campaign id number 10v074000 (fuel system, other: storage: fuel gauge system). The vehicle had not been repaired when the complaint was filed since the part was unavailable for the recall repair; however, the part would be available within two months. The technician stated that until the vehicle was repaired only a half tank of fuel could be consumed in the fuel tank. The contact was concerned of the potential safety hazard. The manufacturer was notified and stated that they were making an attempt to have the parts available to the authorized dealers as soon as possible. The failure and current mileages were 57,500.
