Other Fuel System Problems of Infiniti QX60

I am reporting a serious safety concern with my 2016 Infiniti Qx60 involving a defective cooling fan system. The vehicle currently experiences a ticking/tapping noise from the cooling fan, and the fan does not operate properly, which has caused the engine to overheat. This condition creates a significant safety hazard, as engine overheating can lead to sudden engine failure while driving, increasing the risk of an accident. The issue also makes it unsafe to use essential features such as the air conditioner in hot weather and the defroster in cold conditions, which impacts visibility and driver safety. This defect appears to be part of a known issue affecting this vehicle platform, where the cooling fan system fails prematurely. I understand there have been allegations, including in anderson v. Nissan north America, that the manufacturer may have been aware of this defect but did not adequately disclose it. In addition, I am aware that this vehicle model has been associated with other safety-related recalls, including issues involving the abs actuator (which may pose a fire risk) and the hybrid powertrain control system (if applicable). These existing concerns further highlight the urgency of addressing this defect. This is not normal wear and tear, but a potential safety-related defect that places drivers, passengers, and others on the road at risk. I am concerned about continuing to operate this vehicle and potentially causing an accident or injury due to overheating or loss of vehicle function. I am requesting that this issue be formally investigated to determine whether a recall or corrective action is necessary to prevent harm.

I had just gotten a safety inspection 15 days prior to this event to renew my registration. The car had been driving perfectly. Me and my wife had drove to my daughter’s school to pick her up. The school is about 10 minutes away from our home. Once we left the school we got about 3 minutes down the road and started smelling a strong electrical/plastic burning smell. Suddenly the car stalled and shut off. Then it cranked back up. Then it shut off. It did that several times. Smoke started pouring out from under the hood. I was barely able to get the car off the road and into a parking lot before it completely died and stopped cranking and stalling. I immediately got my family out of the car and had them run to safety. There was several other family’s with their children who had also just been picked up all around us. So I ran to car and popped the hood. There was so much electrical smoke coming out from driver side area. It appeared to be coming from the hybrid high voltage system under the ecm. I quickly disconnected the negative terminal on the 12v battery to shut down the electrical systems on the car. I have called Infiniti and I am dropping car off tomorrow to have a full inspection done to find out what happened. I am reaching out to you because I know that there is documented reports of this exact thing happening to other cars and that there was a recall r21b4 that they did a software update for. I believe that that update did not work to prevent this catastrophic event from happening. I don’t know if they will try to act like this was not related to the recall so I am trying to cover all my bases here by filing this complaint with y’all as well. I also have an open claim with Infiniti corporate. They are trying to just say that I no longer have a warranty for my car but this is a safety concern not just a warranty issue. I will be taking my car to Infiniti clear lake in houston texas tomorrow for them to look at it.

2020 infinity qx 60 bought car used in 2024 with 80,000. There is a hesitation when accelerating and sometimes seems to want to die when idling. There is also a knocking sound at times when accelerating. At times I feel transmission skips. When turning right or left or reversing, the wheels seem to creek and almost grind a bit. I am great about maintenance and called to determine if my VIN was included in the current recalls. I am told no, but am experiencing the same symptoms described by infinity. Just want to know if there is a any action to take to ensure my 4 kids and I are always safe when traveling and dont end up with thousands in repairs.

This vehicle has ~43k miles and in the shop 3 times. Once I had computer issues and was replaced, and twice now to replace the fuel pump. First instance, I was at a stop sign and tried to accelerate but the car wouldn't move. It was like it was in neutral but was in drive. I had to shut car down, restart and was able to get to the dealership. Second time, I left work driving ~73 mph on [xxx] in jacksonville florida when out of nowhere I could feel the gas not taking. I then got a flashing message across my dashboard several times that said "engine stalled" . Imagine the fear in the middle of the highway and essentially having no gas power. Fortunately, since I was leaving at noon, it was not rush hour and fortunately this occurred right before an exit. I was able to remain calm and not panic and get over two lanes in time to pull off to an exit ramp all the while DE-accelerating until I landed in the grass off the exit ramp. I cross [xxx] every day for work and cars losing power going 75 mph on [xxx] is terrifying and could easily lead to a wreck and in the most unfortunate incidents on that bridge; cars hit have gone over the side. Again, second time now they are supposedly replacing the fuel pump. How can two be bad? this is so dangerous for someone to be put in this situation. I have seen other posts on the internet with fuel pump issues on the 2023 Qx60 and similar circumstances. Car is in the shop now so don't have the receipt yet for the replacement. This vehicle started shaking and juttering at a lower speed and made it very difficult to drive. Then I could accelerate and it would not go faster. I took it to a repair shop and they were getting cvt codes for the transmission. I looked online a found that many other people had these same issues as well as a class action lawsuit that was settled a few years ago for 278 million for these problems. I was never informed that this cvt was a problem and could have it replaced from Nissan for no charge. I am not sure why Nissan would allow an unsafe transmission to be installed into a vehicle that would make the car unsafe to drive.

While driving my Qx60 with my wife and 8month baby inside, car stalled twice on Feb 15th and March 22nd , felt like it had an empty fuel tank , car stopped in traffic , had to pull baby, my wife and I to shoulder and leave vehicle stopped in traffic with emergency lights on ,call for a tow truck , car would start and die immediately , car only has 21000 miles check engine light on with codes : p0090 fuel pressure regulator 1 control circuit p0087 fuel rail/system pressure too low went to local dealership and service agent mentioned it was fuel pump,that many of these pumps are going bad for these new cars, I also research online forums and this seems to be an issue with the fuel pump on these cars. The replaced my fuel pump today March 31st , but not sure if they use same defective pump , probably since they won’t say I contacted Infiniti consumer affairs and file a case ,mainly asking what is Infiniti doing regarding all these fuel pumps that are failing? , is the same fuel pump getting installed when the original fails ? why isnt there a recall for this? the lady who called me didn’t know what to say other than recalls don’t depend on us but on the NHTSA , that’s why I’m filing complaint today.

On two occasions driving new 2023 Qx60, the engine stalled while driving. Vehicle lost all acceleration capability. The system message: stop car, engine stall. Press break and start button. What we noticed is that both times, the engine stalled after the car had been sitting running idle for a period of time.

I purchased and Infiniti Qx60 on April 15th 2023 the check engine light has come on on multiple occasions and the vehicle loses power in traffic and stops moving it will shut off. The first time I had the vehicle in for service it was sensors with the check engine light this time it is in for service and there is a replacement of a fuel pump.

Driving west on i8 from az into san diego my vehicle would lose all ability to accelerate and start decelerating on the upward climbs of the crestwood summit highway pass through the cuyamaca mountains. Not only it would continue to lose complete driving power and we had to pull over many time to turn the car off and let it sit for 10 minutes. It was not over heated and no lights were on with any indication of failure. During decents and on plateaus it resumed its completely normal functioning. I immediately brought it in to oceanside CA Infiniti where they told me they don’t know what it wrong so they can’t fix it and I have to basically drive back to az through the mountains again and break down (it’s 115 degrees and almost 1. 5 hours in both directions to any town) to figure out what was wrong. It’s incredibly dangerous and clearly not safe.

When tempature is hot outside or if I sit in idle for a while in traffic, car starts skipping, stalling and shuts off. I’ve already taken it to two dealerships to be fixed and spent thousands of dollars and it starts doing it again in a few months.

Car stops when turning a corner. When turning it back on, it moves slow and it might have power to move but then it goes slow. The battery will drain quickly and the it stops all together. It's like the engine just goes out.

Car just stalls or cuts out and loses power. Dealership says it’s not pulling any codes.

In the summer of 2022 (I think Aug) car was stalling when stopped to make a turn. The check engine light flashed but never stayed on after the 1st incident. Brought it to a dealer and was told that the car was fine. Drove it for another two weeks and the same thing happened and no warning lights appeared. Brought it back to the dealer and was diagnosed with faulty fuel injectors after this 2nd visit. I believe all of the fuel injectors were replaced. In may of 2023 car sounded as if it was going to stall again when stopped in traffic. Happened again in early July and again last week. Today, when I was driving the car sounded as if it was going to stall/jerking. No warning lights came on in any of these scenarios. Todays incident is very concerning since this happened while I was driving between 40-50mph. Since may I have brought this car to two different dealers 3x and they can’t find anything wrong. Safety issues when idling and now when driving. It’s not a consistent issue and is unpredictable, which makes it even more concerning. I called a dealer today and was told not to bring it in since no warning lights came on and they already checked the car about two weeks ago. Was advised to drive the car in sport mode for a week to see if this makes a difference. I do a lot of driving and I’m afraid to be on major highways and driving late at night. I now have to make sure that I drive in a lane that has a shoulder in case I need to pull over.

The vehicle constantly shudders and almost stalls when in reverse or in low gear. The vehicle seems to not switch properly between the hybrid battery to the engine or vice-versa. The vehicle has a recall from October 2021 and Infiniti has not fixed the recall yet. I feel the vehicle is unsafe. I have emailed and contacted Infiniti to no avail. Infiniti has not remedied this recall in any fashion in almost a year.

Shortly after purchasing this used vehicle from carmax, the vehicle began experiencing serious mechanical failures involving the engine/emissions system, braking system, and suspension. The vehicle displayed a check engine warning light, and the selling dealer, carmax schaumburg, confirmed issues requiring repair, including a faulty oxygen sensor, brake-related repairs, and a suspension link. The vehicle was taken in for service, parts were ordered, and repairs were performed. Despite these repairs, the same issues reoccurred, requiring the vehicle to be returned for additional repair attempts. The problems were therefore reproduced after the initial repair, confirming the existence of unresolved defects. The vehicle was not reliably safe during this period. These failures posed safety risks due to reduced braking reliability, compromised vehicle stability, and engine performance concerns, which could affect drivability and safe operation under normal conditions. The defects were confirmed and serviced by the dealer, as documented through service communications and voicemail messages from carmax. Warning indicators, including the check engine light, were present prior to repair and prompted service visits. Exact mileage at the time of the incidents is unknown, as it was not clearly disclosed at purchase. Before the issues were fully and permanently resolved, the vehicle was repossessed, resulting in the loss of the vehicle while unresolved safety and mechanical defects existed. The repossession prevented further inspection or repair by the consumer. The repaired components and service records should be available for inspection through the dealer. No police or insurance inspection occurred in connection with a collision, as the issue involved mechanical and safety defects rather than an accident.

I bought my Qx60 2017 in April of 2021. Fine til wk 2 experienced electrical issues liftgate stops going up or down randomly, hesitation in the acceleration when pulling into traffic (quite scary when you almost get rammed). Concerns told to dealership stated I needed to change key fob battery. I already had and it was fine. They insisted I cchangeit so I did. . Not the issue. So I made an appt to have concerns checked. . Ie transmission hesitation and electrical . I brought it in got a loaner. Many days later it was ready and I could pick it up they could find no issues they fixed nothing but the groan in the gas tank that's it. They said they couldn't duplicate it. So I reiterated to them to make sure that they understood that it was done at random and it's still being done at random months later. So I brought the car home and I've just been dealing with it not knowing what else to do cuz if they don't take the car and actually drive it like it's their own they probably won't experience it just driving around the parking lot. And even though they had it a week and could have done that I guess they didn't. Well then back in the end of August beginning of September my car wouldn't start I had to put the key fob next to the button in order to start it which I didn't figure out till later lots of electrical things were happening at that point added to what I already had so I brought it to them and they said it was the battery it was under warranty so they changed and explain that that should take care of all of my issues and if not bring it back in. So I've made another appointment for today and I'm bringing it back in because the hesitation is still there there's more electrical issues there's always been a bluetooth electrical issue there's now rear camera, volume sometimes work sometimes blows your ears out, vibration in engine compartment, unlock door open door it sounds unlocking again repeatedly repeatedly and liftgate still.

Car was running well and did not have any issues then went to start and car would not start, headlights started flickering, warning lights came on and car wouldn't start. Was able to get it to start and drive home but power steering went out, could not accelerate on a hwy, lights continued to flicker. Was not switching gears. Once we got home turned the car off and have not been able to start it since. We had it towed to Nissan dealership and they can't figure out what is wrong and it's been there for over three weeks. Nissan is saying we need a new $14,0000 engine. This is a three year old car with no problems, no indication of any issues and one day it just stops driving. Have researched this year, make and model and have heard this is a common problem. Infiniti has not done anything about it and says it's not their fault. Don't know where to go from here. This car needs to be recalled due to the numerous complaints about the same issue,.

Tl- the contact owns a 2017 Infiniti Qx60. The contact stated while driving at approximately 30 mph the vehicles abs light illuminated for approximately an hour and twenty minutes. The contact then pulled the vehicle over to a safe destination and attempted to contact road side assistance as provided through the manufacturer (via mail) however the phone number was not in service. The contact was able to drive the vehicle home. The vehicle was taken to ( nationwide Infiniti of timonium 22 w timonium rd, lutherville-timonium, MD 21093) and received a loaner vehicle. The failure is due to (NHTSA campaign number: 19v807 components service brakes, hydraulic) the manufacturer was not made aware of this issue. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available yet. Tp.

The car will stay between 2000 rpm to 4000 with s as loud noise.

Rubber grommet that holds the gas filler neck in place damaged. Filler neck bent. Replacing cost per the dealer is $1516. 70, not covered under warranty. No damage seen on the vehicle. Infiniti to look into this issue further. This might be a safety concern, and should be addressed. Infiniti to check the root cause for this issue of damaged grommet gas filler neck.

On two separate occasions,the gas pedal on the car got stuck in the down position causing the car to accelerate uncontrollably. The first time was while accelerating onto the highway. When I let off the gas pedal, it stuck in the down position and I had to manually disengage it with my foot. The second time on 3/7/2015 at 2050, my wife was driving at a steady speed of 65 mph when the gas pedal went down on its own causing the car to accelerate to approximately 85 mph before she was able to disengage the pedal. There was nothing underneath the pedal to cause it to get stuck either time. My wife called the dealership and was told by the general manager, steve, that it was probably the rug stuck under the pedal and the all weather mat should not have been put over the standard mat. These had been installed by the dealer and we explained that the mats were not near the pedal. They finally agreed to come get the vehicle to check it. When the driver came to pick it up, he stated he was told the mats were causing the pedal to get stuck. We told him that was not the case and we didn't think the vehicle was safe to drive. He tested the gas pedal with the vehicle off and said it felt abnormal. It had a click mid way down as well as a click at the very bottom of thy range of the pedal. I also called Infiniti customer support and reported this as well. Case # 18170854 was assigned.
