Infiniti QX60 owners have reported 31 problems related to vehicle speed control (under the vehicle speed control category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Infiniti QX60 based on all problems reported for the QX60.
Component/system failure: timing chain and timing chain tensioner/guide assembly failure. The timing chain has stretched prematurely, causing the vehicle to fail to start, loss of acceleration response, check engine light illumination, and audible rattling noise from the engine compartment. The failed components are available for inspection upon request at the dealership. Safety risk: the vehicle would not accelerate when the gas pedal was pressed, creating a dangerous situation where the vehicle could not respond to driver input. This poses a serious safety risk in traffic, highway merging, or emergency evasive situations. Additionally, the failure to start leaves occupants stranded without warning. Dealer confirmation: the problem has been diagnosed and confirmed by an authorized Infiniti dealer. The dealer determined the cause is timing chain stretching and has quoted $6,500 for repair, which includes timing chain, tensioners, and guides replacement. Prior warnings: approximately one week prior to complete failure, the vehicle began exhibiting a rattling noise from the engine. The check engine light illuminated. Shortly after, the vehicle would not start and would not accelerate when the gas pedal was pressed. Known defect: this is a documented defect. Infiniti technical service bulletin itb19-027a addresses timing chain-related diagnostic trouble codes on 2017-2024 Qx60 vehicles with the vq35dd engine. The timing chain tensioner and guide failure on vq-series engines is a well-documented premature wear issue affecting vehicles well before expected service life. At 80,000 miles, this failure is premature and indicative of a design or manufacturing defect, not normal wear. Request: I am requesting NHTSA investigate this safety defect and consider requiring a recall for affected Infiniti Qx60 vehicles. Nissan/Infiniti corporate has declined goodwill assistance despite the existence of tsbs acknowledging the issue.

While driving, the vehicle often brakes and accelerates without my control. I've reported this issue before. My brakes are fine, according to the vehicle status.

2020 infinity qx 60 bought car used in 2024 with 80,000. There is a hesitation when accelerating and sometimes seems to want to die when idling. There is also a knocking sound at times when accelerating. At times I feel transmission skips. When turning right or left or reversing, the wheels seem to creek and almost grind a bit. I am great about maintenance and called to determine if my VIN was included in the current recalls. I am told no, but am experiencing the same symptoms described by infinity. Just want to know if there is a any action to take to ensure my 4 kids and I are always safe when traveling and dont end up with thousands in repairs.

This vehicle started shaking and juttering at a lower speed and made it very difficult to drive. Then I could accelerate and it would not go faster. I took it to a repair shop and they were getting cvt codes for the transmission. I looked online a found that many other people had these same issues as well as a class action lawsuit that was settled a few years ago for 278 million for these problems. I was never informed that this cvt was a problem and could have it replaced from Nissan for no charge. I am not sure why Nissan would allow an unsafe transmission to be installed into a vehicle that would make the car unsafe to drive.

In the beginning when I pull off the car shudders and jerks speed was delayed. Now in the middle of driving with some speed the car beginnings to strain and barely move although the gauge shows I’m going 40 miles the car is straining and going under 5 miles. This started maybe a year ago but now it is much worser.

The vehicle is accelerating and braking randomly without my control.
The car is not engaging when going from 1st to all gears, the car feels very shaky and unstable.
Vehicle looses power randomly. No engine or warning lights. Rpms will rev but car will not go into gear or drive. I can shut off the vehicle for a couple hours then restart and will drive fine until randomly happens again.
While accelerating from a complete stop, the transmission does not seem to fully engage and the car shudders while taking off.
The vehicle shudders and the transmission shifts up and down and has a high squeal when driving. The transmission does this cold and at operating temperature.

The car jerks forward when accelerating from a stopped position which throws everyone in the car forward and it could potentially hit something or someone. The car does not stay in position when put in park or even turned off. It rolls back 2 feet and it hit my daughter and knocked her down from the rear and the car door hit my mother because it rolls back too far. Also, it has a major hesitation when trying to accelerate. When trying to pass a vehicle I almost got hit from a car behind me. These problems happen in every 2023 Infiniti Qx60. My car is currently in the shop trying to be for the second time but each loaner car has the same problems. One Infiniti service manager said the jerking forward is a “global problem” in this model.

The car does not accelerate or accelerate with jerky motion. Occasionally, the vehicle disengaged out of drive mode and would not accelerate. There seems to be some transmission issues as the vehicles is making jerky movement upon acceleration. Almost cause accident on a turn as it could not move forward out of cross traffics!.
Feb (sensors) display on our Infiniti qx 60 dashboard - this occurred within several months when we received the car. The car was inspected by their Infiniti repair dealer and was told the problem was solved. It was not and the same issue appeared after several miles of driving. Reported to consumer affairs at Infiniti and was informed its an Infiniti dealer issue. Further electronic defects occurred as I was not able to change gear from park to drive. Infiniti towed the car to their dealer and purportedly they corrected. The same issue continued and placed several more calls to Infiniti consumer affairs. Was told "we are sorry but we cant help you". Eventually brought this issue up to the highest level at Infiniti to jeremie. Papin@Nissan-USA. Com - head of Nissan north America. No action yet again - and was called by an assistant and thanked me for bringing it to his attention. Informed Infiniti via email to mr. Papin that it can be catastrphic at front sensors are defective and do not function. I have video's and written correspondence to Infiniti. I am available for a zoom call or can be contacted at (347) 407-2977. Respectfully yours, oleg shtaynberger brooklyn, NY.
The vehicle on at least 4 occasions has stopped accelerating when driving the vehicle (first time I believe was fall 2021, this last time was spring 2022). Most of the times that the issue was noticed, the car was was moving at slower speeds (35 or less). The engine remained running but pressing on the gas pedal didn't make the vehicle increase it's speed. The first time it did this we took it to the dealership to inspect. They could not replicate the issue and they said that no error codes showed up. We left with no repairs or answers. It happened 2 more times after that. Each of those times we were able to stop the vehicle and get it to go again or it would start to respond to pushing on the gas pedal and would accelerate. The 4th time this happened I was in the middle of an intersection turning and it wouldn't accelerate. I was able to slowly roll into a gas station. I tried stopping and turning the vehicle off and on again to see if the problem would go away, however each time the car only slowly inched forward. I parked and then the vehicle started acting weird. The ac shut off and the steering wheel locked. There were three error lights that came on. The first said "fcw malfunction see owner's manual" and second was "iba off" and then the "! inside a triangle" appeared. These appeared only after stopping the vehicle for the last time right before it wouldn't start again. The vehicle was towed to the dealership. The error reading they got was c1601 and they believe the alternator needs to be replaced. This doesn't seem to line up with the issues we have been having nor the error warning lights that appeared. The last time this happened my child was in the car with me. Had we pulled out to turn and the car wouldn't go we could have very easily been hit by oncoming traffic. It is very troubling that the dealership doesn't seem to really know what is wrong with the car.
I bought a 2014 Infiniti Qx60 and after one week, my vehicle started to jerk after resuming from a stop sign or stop light but was just annoying at first. Later that day, the check engine light came on and I took it to auto zone to get the code which displayed "p1715 - input pulley speed signal" and secondary dtcs were p0776 (pressure solenoid b performance/stuck off. When I am driving, I cannot make it a mile without having my rpms skyrocket and my vehicle become inoperable and makes me turn my flashers on and find a place to pull over, shut off my vehicle, and restart it. This repeats over and over and over if I continue to get to the grocery store for essential needs but it is not safe to drive and will for sure cause a collision if it keeps happening. There are so many issues with this make/model and needs to be addressed for the safety of others on the road and myself/children as it is unexpected and very scary.
Unexplained acceleration caused vehicle to exceed posted speed limit and driver's desired speed. On a city street at approx 7pm I was increasing speed after sitting at a stop light, I slowly started to accelerate, I felt a jolt & vehicle suddenly picked up speed. Not knowing why this was happening I repeatedly pushed the cancel button on the steering wheel & pushed the brake pedal. Vehicle continued to pick-up speed when I stopped pushing brake pedal. I came to a complete stop & vehicle went to picking up quick speed without me pushing accelerator pedal. I pulled into vacant parking lot, put vehicle in park, removed my foot from brake pedal & vehicle accelerated high (rpms) by itself for a few seconds & stopped (went to normal idling). I turned vehicle off, restarted & the vehicle drove normally afterwards. I have reviewed owners manual & can't figure out what I may have done to cause the unexpected vehicle acceleration that pushing the cancel button on the steering wheel and/or pushing the brake pedal wouldn't turn off. I was not attempting to use speed control functions of the vehicle. Standard driving. I believe it was a vehicle malfunction and not driver action that created this unsafe situation. Thankfully surrounding traffic was light on what is typically a busy street.
I accelerated the gas pedal all the way down while merging to the carpool lane on highway; I took the foot pressure off after merging the lane but car was kept on accelerating. I had to apply the brake several time during 15-20 seconds of this experience to bring the high acceleration down to normal. I took it to ontario California Infiniti dealership on Aug 8, 2020 and left the vehicle there for thorough checkup. I received a call on Aug 10, 2020 from dealership service representative that they could not reproduce the issue.
While driving on the highway, the acceleration pedal got stuck in the pushed in position. The car was accelerating on its own reaching speeds up to 95 mph.
As I was leaving my job's parking lot I started my vehicle and proceeded to put my Qx60 in reverse and my engine reved so very very loud that it scared me tremendously. The truck took off on its own, while trying to stop the vehicle it continued to speed in reverse until I hit a brick wall. Then without me touching the gear shifter the vehicle proceeded to go forward on its own and didn't stop until my vehicle went into a ravine.

Shuddering while driving p0776 code transmission skipping while driving stalling while driving.
Transmission was replaced by dealership free of charge late last year, now transmission is shuddering while driving and car will not accelerate over 25-35 mph.
Driver assistance pkg and around view monitor with mod does not work anymore after collision repair. The SUV was repaired with genuine Infiniti parts. After the repair was completed, the driver assistance package options and the moving object detection at the front no longer works. It has been at the collision center and Infiniti dealership for over 2 months and they can not figure out the cause of the malfunction. All the Infiniti dealership has done was said the computer does not show an error. I have asked Infiniti to call in an expert engineer if they do not know how to fix it. If it is a faulty system, Infiniti needs to disclose that to the public because I am sure that I am not the only one that has had a front collision in a Qx60. Many people may not even know that this feature does not work on their vehicle any longer. If there is a fix for this problem, then Infiniti should also disclose that instead of trying to get away with not fixing the issues. As we expect the airbag to deploy to keep us safe, we also expect our diver assistance package to work properly as well.
The engine shut down while driving. There where no warning lights. We where told that the car had a faulty abs sensor and that caused the car to go into "failsafe" mode. This is the second time this had happened in 10 months.
When accelerating the vehicle begins to shudder and it does not accelerate in a timely fashion. While driving on the street or highway the car does not gain rpms and begins to what best can be described as coughing and shaking. Changing gears from drive to neutral or reverse also takes the vehicle time to make the change.
When starting up after a complete stop, the vehicle will surge. It also happens when you put the car into reverse. The dealership stated they had experienced the same problem and had to replace the transmission. Drove our vehicle in the parking lot but could not recreate the problem so would not do anything further. I feel this is a safety risk. This has happened on numerous occasions.
Transmission shudders, loses power during acceleration and when in motion.
The car shudder when I stepped on the accelerator. I was told by the Infiniti repairman that it was because of the transmission. Checked online and found: the vehicles Infiniti Qx60 2014 are equipped with continuously variable transmissions known as the jatco cvt8ht that were allegedly defective before they were even installed in the vehicles. Never got a phone call from inifiniti for inspection the possible problem.
After taking off car not shifting sounds like a whining noise coming from transmission and car was jerking at low speed. Also had cruise set and car speeds up on it own.
I have been having issues with my Infiniti Qx60 since I purchased it 09/2014. There is a problem with it accelerating. I would press on the gas and it wouldn't give me the acelleration that I would expect from this car. . . It is very sluggish. I have told this to the dealership on several occasions since 2014. Every time they checked it, they said there wasn't a problem. One time, I received the same car as a loaner car while they worked on my car, and I could clearly see that there was a difference in the way that car drove versus mine. The loaner car drove better than my car. So, to make a long story short, I dropped my car off at the dealership in mid-may (last month) to be looked at. The service advisor told me that there is an issue with my car (judder issue) and they had my car for a week. During that time, I went online and found others had the same complaints. One person said that their dealership ended up purchasing their car back from them/ refunded their money because the judder issue wasn't resolved. I also spoke to a regional specialist at Infiniti and have a case # of case # 22529177. I am going to contact the regional specialist again because this issue isn't resolved but the bottom line is that Infiniti sells inferior cars. Another issue is the rubber molding on the passenger right door is coming off and preventing me from closing the door and when someone is in the passenger seat, with their seatbelt is on, the airbag light comes on. Im scared that my car will just die on me as I'm driving it. With all the things that are happening with automobiles these days, I do not ant to fall victim to any of these issues.
We have had two issues with our 2014 Qx60. The first issue was a shudder problem where the vehicle would shake/hesitate/felt like it was going to stall at lower speeds, around corners, etc. After several attempts the dealership advised it was a transmission issue and the entire transmission was replaced. The second issue came about after the transmission was replaced and has yet to be fixed. The accelerator will intermittently not work. This happens either from a stop ? I go to hit the gas and either nothing happens or the car lurches forward and stops. I will press on the accelerator again and it will work. The other time is when you are driving and go to increase your speed ? you press on the gas and the rpm?s go down and nothing happens. I press on the gas again and nothing happens. I try again and it will kick in. The dealership had our car for 6 weeks for the second issue and cannot replicate it so therefore they won?t do anything for us. We are now going through an arbitration program requesting a replacement of our vehicle as it seems to meet lemon law. We have an unsafe unpredictable vehicle that we spent a lot of money on. We are very unhappy with infinity corporate as they offered us $1,000 to go away. This is not about money but about safety issues. Infinity corporate also stated that the number of times our vehicle has been seen for the problem is not unreasonable. I beg to differ as having our vehicle gone for a full 6 weeks (and this does not count all the other times it has been to the dealer for the other issue) is very unreasonable. We were told we had to pick up our vehicle after 6 weeks. Two weeks later we had the issue happen twice to us so we called the dealership and they were hesitant to accept the vehicle to their repair department. They did accept it finally but unsure what they are even doing with the vehicle at this point.
