I am submitting this formal safety defect complaint regarding a serious and life-threatening incident involving my 2020 Infiniti Qx60. While traveling at approximately 60 miles per hour on a public highway, the vehicle’s hood suddenly and violently flew fully open without warning. This resulted in an immediate and complete loss of forward visibility while the vehicle was in motion. The hood had been properly closed prior to driving, and there were no warning indicators, unusual noises, or prior issues suggesting a problem with the latch mechanism. This event appeared to involve a total failure of both the primary hood latch and the secondary safety latch system, which are specifically designed to prevent this type of occurrence. The incident created an extremely dangerous situation with a high risk of a catastrophic collision, serious injury, or death to myself and other motorists. I was fortunate to maintain control of the vehicle and safely slow down without a crash. This was a near-miss catastrophic event caused by a critical safety system failure. A hood opening at highway speed creates total loss of visibility and represents a severe hazard to roadway safety. The vehicle is currently being preserved without repair so that the failure can be properly evaluated. I am reporting this incident so it can be investigated for potential design, manufacturing, or mechanical defects that could affect other drivers. Sincerely, robert ponger.

I was driving at approximately 40 mph in clear weather on a familiar straight asphalt roadway in our community. I suddenly heard a loud blast. I thought it was an explosion near the roadway. I was terrified, so I immediately pulled over into a supermarket parking lot. There was a policeman there, and I asked him if he had heard the explosion. He did not hear anything but volunteered to check my vehicle. He found that the sunroof was blown out. My sunshade was closed, so no glass entered the cabin of my car. The policeman found some glass on the road at the location I was driving. I have contacted the dealer service, and they should be calling me back. I googled "2020 Infiniti Qx60 sunroof exploding" and have found many others with the same issue. I also found a website that is seeking a class action lawsuit. I am so happy that I had the sunshade closed. In the years we've owned this car, I've opened the sunroof only a few times.
In moderate to heavy rain, the windshield wiper pushes water onto the drivers side window. This water then streaks diagonally down across the window, blurring the view through the drivers side mirror. I experienced this in two cars, once on the test drive on highway 580 in dublin, and once driving through the donner summit in rainy conditions. Rain is when you need visibility to be good. I have not experienced this in any other car I have driven.

Distorted view through the windshield. When looking at lights, double image is visible. This is especially pronounced at nights, causing poor visibility and eye strain. This issue seems to be isolated to vehicles with heads up display, because of the lamination.
The side view mirrors slowly tilt up when the vehicle is running and snap back to the bottom position. This occurs on both the driver and passenger side mirrors. This occurs when the vehicle is parked as well as when in motion. It appears to occur more often after a carwash or rain.

I cannot upload the video that shows the issue with the maps/bluetooth.
While driving on a state highway at approximately 65 mph, there was a loud exploding sound followed by loud rushing air. I quickly realized that my sunroof glass had shattered. Fortunately the sunroof shade was closed so no glass came into the vehicle. Besides myself driving, both of my kids were sitting in the back seat and could have been injured by flying glass shards. There were no other vehicles around me and nothing apparently struck my vehicle.

Sunroof exploded when driving on the highway, we pulled over immediately and called Infiniti customer service for technical help, they asked me to drive to nearest Infiniti retail store to replace the glass. When we got the store, there's no mechanic because it's Saturday. The staff there told me to come Monday to see if they can determine the sunroof exploded by itself. They helped us cover the sunroof with hardboard and tapes. We drove to the retail store--hgreg Infiniti monrovia on Monday. Their technicist told us there's no way to determine the reason of explosion without checking the remain glass covered by the hardboard and claimed that they never heard about a case of sunroof explosion , if broken must be hit by other stuff, which is obviously lying since you can search out thousands of sunroof exploding cases online in one minute. We couldn't convince each other, so I left. The only help I am seeking from NHTSA is to offer a way to determine the causing, for instance, an authenticate third party to test the remain material. Only with the legally binding evidence, can I sue the unethical company.
On March 26, 2021 the sunroof exploded and shattered during commute home from work in dallas on i30 eastbound near the ferguson road exit. Traffic was surprisingly light and there were no large trucks near me.
Traveling I-10 going 75mpg, and the sun roof exploded. Sounded like we had been shot. Nothing was in front of us when it happened. The interior shade was not opened , so no glass was blown in. There was a big hole with the glass being bulged outward (up. ).

Tl- the contact owns an 2015 Infiniti Qx60. The contact stated that while traveling at 50 mph, she was pulled over by a police officer due to her passenger head light being burned out. The contact took the vehicle to Infiniti of san antonio 12150 w interstate 10, san antonio, TX 78230 (210) 941-4445 where she was informed that moisture had seeped into the headlight causing the burn out. The contact was given an estimate of $2,500. 00 for repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the matter. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 60,097. Jo.
As we were driving on the interstate we heard a very loud explosion type sound. It was night but in a well lit section of interstate. We weren't near any overpasses and were in the right lane of a three lane highway. We pulled over as soon as it was safe to see what had happened. When we checked the car we discovered our sunroof was shattered significantly. Neither of us in the front seat saw anything coming towards us and there was no evidence that anything hit us. We were traveling about 75 miles an hour with cruise control set. The sun shade was closed at the time the glass shattered so none of the glass entered the vehicle.
Sun visor is broken and hangs down in the sight line of the driver. The car is a 2014 infinity qx 60 and both visors are broken. Cost is over $400 to fix the faulty parts plus labor. This is a safety hazard and a faulty part that is a rip off for $400 to fix. Contacted infinity corporate to see about replacing the faulty parts and was told that they would not cover any of the cost. Treating it as normal wear and tear. The vehicle is 4 years old and has 64k miles.
