Our agency purchased four 2005, 7400 International trucks to be used as fire apparatus. Since the first truck went into service in April of 2005 we have had a series of air compressor failures. The head gaskets leak coolant into the vehicle's air system. This requires replacement of the air compressor along with the air dryer cartridge. The first vehicle is going on it's fifth unit. Another leaked coolant into the motor oil and subsequently had to have the engine replaced. The other two vehicles have had the air compressor head gaskets replaced to try and prevent a similar occurrence. The air compressors are manufactured by bendix.
