Bought car on Friday(7/20/18). Upon arriving home and after getting acquainted and accustomed to car, detected the following problems that I was unable to detect during test drive. After reviewing car fax report and dmv car info, was aware of car history, after verifying carfax indicated they would purchase back my car if determined to be a lemon, I purchased vehicle w/ full confidence. Arriving home, determined the following safety issues with the car that I was unable to notice during a routine test drive. Upon driving vehicle at home, noticed immediately the following safety issue's 1. )brake system~applyinging breaks, prior to stopping the car jerks to an abrupt stop making pax in vehicle experience a whiplash effect 2. ) determined at home after reading manual, that the red light illumination when accelerating vehicle found out it was the "priority light" indicating coolant fluid level low. 3. ) also, attempted to go shopping on Saturday but when arrived at store realized car would not lock w/ either remote or key. Both do not lock vehicle, unable the status of alarm, and while car is parked, still unable to keep doors n vehicle locked. Informed dealer and assured me it would be inspected and addressed . Also, informed dealer for some assistance after paying over $5k cash. Above are listed problems determined, notified dealer and asked me to bring in on Monday for 2'nd attempt. Paid to much money to have to go through these tragedies when dealer should have at least been up front and honest when he assured me vehicle had no issues rather the hanging up on me the first time I tried to contact dealer on Saturday, day after purchase.

Initially while being parked in Dec. 2014, I started the car but could not release the electronic park brake. I had to drive it to a mechanic 3 miles away with the brakes smoking. They saw a procedure for resetting the park brake and gave me a copy. All was well for 2 mos. But driving along about 30mph they suddenly locked. I was able to pull over and fortunately had been carrying tools for this and performed the procedure. It happened two more times in 2015 after I was stopped with engine off. I called Jaguar and they said there is no recall, but I have been afraid to drive it long distances and do not want to sell it as it is a serious safety concern. Jaguar offered to look at it but I know all about that and what it could cost, especially when it does not always happen. Note: see enclosed documents for 2004, but I have supposedly a 2005 with this issue.

While approaching a stop sign and applying my brakes the car involentaraly accelerated on to incoming traffic. The car was reving at high speed and could not be stopped. I had both feet on the brakes but car was not responding . I headed toward high curb avoiding cars and pedestians in hopes of slowing car before I was to hit dipsey dumpster ,on the side of the road (I had chosen to hit them in order to avoid involving other cars and pedestrians) when I hit the curb at high rpms , the impact damaged the right front wheel and under carriage of automobile. The acceleration stopped . It was a terrifying experience. This malfunction has been registered by other drivers. Of Jaguars. It is a safety issue that Jaguar needs to address. I am lucky that I did not kill anyone or had serious injuries to my passengar and myself.

February 4, 2009 our s type r Jaguar was the victim of a rapid acceleration/runaway. On February 3 the electronic throttle shut the vehicle off when it was stopped on three or four occasions. The next day, as the vehicle was being driven out of the driveway, the throttle stuck in the open position causing the car to careen out of control. It was towed to hornberg Jaguar in hollywood and the service writer tittered and laughed at my fiancã‰e. Thereafter I received a phone call the next day telling me that the vehicle had suffered front-end damage and that we should call our insurance company. I told her I would have my technical expert who was a product liability witness for me in trials many years ago, pick up the vehicle and tell me what had really happened. I then received a communication that Jaguar was going to send a technical engineer to inspect the vehicle. Nine days later while I was out of state, I received a phone call with a message that the "codes" had been downloaded, there was nothing wrong with the car. There never was an investigation, not even an interview of the driver, no photographs taken of the damage pattern, and to make matters worse, the vehicle brain box was downloaded and then erased. My technical expert tells me the erasure was intentional and was designed to cover up the code which would have indicated an electronic throttle malfunction. My technical expert is alberto ferroni at ital meccanica, 714-893-5096. If no problem existed why did they lie to me and tell me they were sending a technical expert to look at the car, never even interview the driver, and then intentionally erase the brain box? moreover the dealers initial intake form which was not signed by my fiancã‰e is false and fraudulent and makes no reference whatsoever to the runaway. It makes no reference to my providing the service writer with a detailed statement on the following day.
