With fob remote, sometimes the front doors do not unlock but the rear ones do. Key does not unlock them either. By viewing from outside, the locks are popped out but the doors are still locked. Sometimes it only one door. Only way to unlock is to go inside and pop the latch.

The problem started when taking the state of georgia mandated emission test. The vehicle was service 3 weeks before the deadline. All phases of the test was completed except for the evaporate part. So that put the vehicle in not-ready status. We had the vehicle check and rechecked until its pass emission testing March ,2012. Renewal of our progressive vehicles insurance, I can across the vehicle center section on the website. The Jaguar information was entered and there were 4 recall and 40 TSB. Just before the last emission test the vehicle was scanned for codes their were two issues in which reoccured every since 2006. Nhtsa #10017717, batch #30309 and 623791, batch #30701. I called Jaguar corporate office (201) 818-8500 to see what could be done to resolved these problems. . The part of phone call I did not liked, the customer care person stated " the government put information out on vehicle all the time, its don't means anything. Also I learn georgia suppose to have all recalls and tbs in there emission testing data base. This is a short version of the frustration we have with Jaguar, when the informations is there for them. # 623791 can happen on the expressway with the loss of power. Please help with a solution.

I was driving from atlanta to cleveland averaging 75 mph somewhere in tennessee when I turned on the cruise control and without warning the vehicle just shut down. I was able to coast to the shoulder and restart the vehicle and completed the trip to cleveland without using the cruise fearing the vehicle would leave me stranded. Luckily (or not) this event happened at 2:00am and the nearest vehicle was a semi truck about half a mile behind me.
Transmission / engine car defaults to "limp home mode".
I have had this car, 2002 Jaguar X-type for less than 3 years. Over this time,. There have been several failures with the electrical system. The car only has 62,917 miles, and now the transmission has failed. This occured on a rainy night, and I barely got to my street before the car totally stopped moving. I have contacted Jaguar corporate to ask them to stand behind their vehicle. They seem to build this car to last only 3 years. All they offered was a $1,000 discount on a bill of $8,150. 00.
When crossing a highway intersection the vehicle engaged into limpmode which caused the electrical system to shut down, and vehicle decelerated to 5 mph.
I signed a 36 month lease contract and took delivery of a 2004 Jaguar X-type from Jaguar of novi on 3/15/04. At approximately 6,700 miles/3 months, the car began to experience a problem where the vehicle, when traveling at speed, will go into safe mode which causes the car to lurch and surge until it can be driven to the shoulder to turn the vehicle off. Once restarted, the check engine light will come on but occasionally, will not stay on. The car was towed to Jaguar of novi where it was repaired subsequent to this initial repair the vehicle has been taken back to the dealership, mostly via a tow truck a total of 14 times for the identical problem all of which are fully covered by the manufacturer warranty. I have taken legal action at this point and have signed an agreement for settlement under the consumer lemon law. The reason I am filing my complaint is this: my vehicle poses a safety issue. Every time I am told by the dealership that my vehicle is repaired and ready to be picked up, I drive the car for 50 miles or less and the car goes into the safe mode and I am forced to abruptly get off the road or risk causing an accident. I continuously complained to the dealership, whose answer was, your vehicle is un-fixable. They state they can replace parts (which every time it is in, the parts list is numerous) but cannot pinpoint the problem, nor guarantee that the problem will not recur. At this point, I have picked up my vehicle, but am awaiting the date that Jaguar cars will take my car back and settle my case. I am requesting that the issue be investigated, since I feel that my safety is compromised and they knowingly release my vehicle un-repaired. Again, I am pursuing this case under the lemon law and would request that your investigation be performed in a manner that would not harm that case.
Both drive shafts , fuel tank and sunroof were replaced, the sunroof malfunctioned-3 or more times, the blinkers and lights failed, tires blew out, air bag light remained on, the passenger front seat belt malfunction, trunk latch issues, heating and ac system had gone out, surge in engine on acceleration, rubbing noise in steering column, constant whining noise in engine, fuel gauge not working, odometer stopped working while on the freeway, no bright lights except when the car was shut off, interior lights remained on after the car was shut off, safety latch on console failed twice, burning smell from the engine 3 times. Problems have been ongoing since purchase of car approximately 12/2002. The rubbing noise occurred when the vehicle was turned left, the center console arm rest moved backward and forward while the vehicle was in motion, the driver's seat belt shoulder pivot made a squeaking noise when in motion, the seat belts did not retract, the air bag warning light stayed on until the key as switched off, and the turn signals were inoperative. (the dealer replaced the buckle).
On 2 separate occasions, the consumer was unable to take the vehicle out of the park gear. The dealership replaced a switch when the problem first occurred. Also at 26,000 while driving all gauges on the dashboard suddenly went to zero. The dealership was unable to determined the cause of the problem.
