1 Tank Filler Pipe And Cap problem of the 2004 Jaguar X-type

Failure Date: 04/22/2006

Failure of the gas cap. The gas cap cannot be removed when adding gas. This is the second occurrence. The first time I was low on gas approx 2 gals remaining and we pulled in for gas and the gas cap would not unlatch. I had to break it off to put gas in the car but was not able to attached the cap. It happened on the weekend so it was 2 days before it was in for service. This occurrence was very similar, the cap feels like it wants to come off but it won't release. I had a half of tank this time and wanted to top off the tank. Finally I broke the cap and the top broke off with the other part still in the tank. Once again this happened on a Saturday and the vehicle can't go in until Monday or Tuesday.
