In 2012 Jaguar had a recall on some of their fx model cars due to faulty fuel tank flange issues that could cause the cars to catch fire. The NHTSA campaign # was 12v521000, the recall # was: j027 & the potential number of units affected was 4,195. In the document I've enclosed, you'll see that my vehicle had the exact same issue with the oil leak and cracked fuel tank flange that other cars were recalled for in 2012. I initially noticed a strong fuel smell in my garage after turning the car off and closing the garage door about 1 weeks ago. My next door neighbor also complained that she smelled the gas fumes in her house last week, but noticed that they went away after I removed my car from the garage and parked it outside. I checked Jaguar's website and asked my Jaguar service advisor if there was a recall on my vehicle because I'd previously read about the fuel tank flange recall, but both sources did not confirm a recall on my car. I called Jaguar this morning while at the dealership waiting for my car to be serviced, and was told that they recall was VIN specific & it was indeed for the same exact issue I had fixed today. I'm concerned that I was driving around in a car that Jaguar has known to have a serious issue that could've resulted in my car catching fire, yet mine and other Jaguars who may have had or may have the issue are still on the streets. Due to the severity of the matter, I wanted to bring it to your attention in hopes that you can intervene with this serious situation.
I have a 2012 Jaguar Xf with 48,000 miles which has a gas leak on top of the gas tank where the hose connects to the ascending unit. This is not only very dangerous for my family but also to my home as this issue can cause a fire. I would like this issue resolved by repair as I am aware that Jaguar has issued several recalls and one of the recalls is for a problem with the 2012 Jaguars Xf leaking gas which could cause a fire.
Vehicle was parked I noticed a gas smell coming from the vehicle. The fuel line or the fuel tank has a leak the mechanics don't know how this could have happened.
