1 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Jaguar XF

Failure Date: 12/01/2022

I was driving my 2012 Jaguar Xf on highway 75 my car began to go from drive to neutral and changing gears on his own and I almost got hit by a semi-truck with the vehicle slowing down eventually I made it home with the vehicle and put it in park and never came out park again, the gear box had locked up that I was told by a local Jaguar repair shop. I could have lost my life that day with that car doing this and someone else can lose their life if this happen to them if you all don't make Jaguar fixed this problem, if it already hasn't happen to someone. I reported this problem to Jaguar today and they sound like they weren't interested in what I was telling them. They said they would open and case and they will close it. Do that make sense to you to open a case and close it?.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Jaguar XF

Failure Date: 09/22/2018

I was driving down the highway and noticed my car did not want to pull when I sped up. A few more miles down the road I noticed smoke coming from my tail pipe and the my air vents. So I pulled over, got out, and walked around to the front of the car and noticed what looked like oil on the side of my car. By this time fire started coming from under the hood. Within minutes my car was blazing and a total loss. What happened to my car? that's what I really want to know. How does a 2015 Jaguar with only 36,000 catch and fire and burn up.

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Jaguar XF

Failure Date: 11/12/2012

I was driving down I-95 south on 11/12/12, near philadelphia (on the way to a 76ers game) with my 7 year old son in the backseat (with booster). I went to accelerate and the pedal apparently got stuck (I didn't know that was the issue at the time). Harrowing experience to say the least. I saw the engine was revving very high and thus thought it had dropped to a lower gear, but the speed kept increasing (rapidly). Tried using the brakes for 3-5 seconds, but it did not seem to do much (did not solve the problem). I realized what might be going on and slipped my toe under the accelerator then popped it up. . . No injuries, other than jangled nerves. Interesting that the pedal was not caught on any part of the carpet or being obstructed by it - which was what I theorized while bringing the car to a stop. The accelerator pedal has an arm that goes directly back (into the engine compartment) - so it may be mechanical in some way. I will be bringing the car to my dealer very soon to get it checked out and fixed, but the problem has not happened again (I've also not used the accelerator as much). Unfortunately, I've been working out of town and not able to get it into the dealer. . . . Car is going into the shop next week.

9 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2009 Jaguar XF

Failure Date: 12/09/2011

I was driving in a parking lot and came to a stop but the car then accelerated and I had brake hard to hold the car back. I put the car into park. When I attempted to put the car into gear again, I could not move the shifter. I turned the car off and restarted it, and the car ran fine the rest of the evening. The next day, I was again in a parking lot and as I try to park, the engine accelerates wildly. I was able to hold the car with the brakes and put it into park. Once in park, the engine continued to rev. The shifter was now stuck. I tapped the shifter and that allowed me to shift the car and the engine went to normal operation. As of 12/11, the problem has not happened again. I will be taking the car to my dealer for diagnosis.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2010 Jaguar XF

Failure Date: 10/01/2010

Jaguar 2010 Xf. Bought the car in early oct, 2009. In October and November of this year there were 3 occurrences whereby the car 's transmission failed to go into neutral after the brakes were applied to come to a stop. In each instance the stopping action occurred following a low speed travel : 1st parking into a church parking space, 2nd coming to a stop in bumper to bumper traffic on rte 90 near oak park, ill. And last, and most frightening slipping into a parking space on the 7th. Level of the parking garage facing marshall field in downtown ,chicago. In this last situation the rear wheels spun and screeched while I was pressing the brake pedal as fiercely as I could. I came to just a few inches of the retaining wall. I took the car to the dealer who maintained that the car had been test driven and computer tested without detection of a re-occurrence. The dealer further advised that the computer test results were sent to Jaguar and reported back that the Jaguar people had never had any similar reports. The dealer asked that I retrieve the car as no problem was detected. I believe this car has serious electronic or related problems as regards the connection between braking action and transmission going into neutral after the brakes are applied. A few months before the entire electronics on the dash board had to be replaced as the screen monitor went dead. I do not in my layman's mind know whether there is any connection between these two issues. In any event I refused to go back into that car. I asked the dealer to take it back and I was offered $ 36,000 for the car. I paid $ 59,674 for it just a year or so before. Someone I know suggested that I could have gotten somewhat more by selling it privately , but I did not want to have it on my conscience selling a dangerous vehicle. . The dealer bought it with 3670 miles on the odometer. According to the document, the consumer stated the vehicle would accelerate when coming to a stop. Updated ivoq 01/19/11.

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2009 Jaguar XF

Failure Date: 09/15/2010

We just bought a 2009 Jaguar Xf two weeks ago. Yesterday when pulling into the driveway, the car's engine surged and I went thru the garage door and didn't stop until I hit the kitchen cabinets, all the while, pressing on the brake. There are skid marks from the beginning of the driveway until the car stopped. No one was hurt thank god, but could have been serious if I had been on the freeway or anywhere for that matter. We had the car towed to the dealership and as of this moment, we have not heard what the reasoning is behind this engine surge.
