Not sure exactly what the problem is. I have had the complete fuel system and water pump replaced. There appears to be a defect in the placement of where the gas cap is located on the vehicle (on top near the trunk) rather than on the side. When there is a hard rain, water leaks into the gas tank; dirt and debris gather in the opening for the gas tank and must be frequently cleaned out. The vehicle will hesitate while driving and then will refuse to start again. In reading complaints from other owners about the plastic parts used in the engine, perhaps this is my problem. As far back as the complaints go about the unreliability of the vehicle, there should have been a recall to determine why the car will just stop running for no apparent reason.
Tl-the contact owns a 1998 Jaguar x68. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds or as the vehicle is at a stand still the contact noticed the gears failed to engaged properly. As the fuel injector, power train, transmission faulty warning light illuminate the vehicle stalls. The vehicle was seen at the dealer brown's Jaguar 10505 midlothian tpke, richmond, va 23235 who was unable to diagnosed the vehicle and sent the contact to an independent mechanic, which informed the contact that it was the transmission module that failed and needed to be replaced. The transmision module was replaced. However, the failure recurred intermittently. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that 0 recalls was under the VIN. The contact mentioned NHTSA 06e043000(fuel system, gasoline). 99v138000 (power train) as a possible solution to the failure but the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage approximately 121,000. Ck.
