The contact's husband depressed the brake pedal to the floorboard; however, the failure continued. As the contact's husband lifted his foot off the brake pedal, the vehicle crashed into a median. The contact stated that the failure occurred so suddenly that they are unaware if any warning light appeared on the instrument panel. The front air bag partially deployed upon impact. The contact's husband was taken to the hospital by an ambulance where he was treated for both a neck sprain and a back sprain. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent tow yard and was later determined to be a total loss. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA campaign number: 20v557000(air bags) which was linked to the failure. The dealer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
