Equipment Problems of Jaguar XJ

Well there a problem when you have no speed all of a sudden. And there a problem with some electrical and fuel can someone help me with what's going on if there a recall or not? I believe there something wrong like a recall and I have to deal with it. So what can I do in regards of getting this matter taking control. I am reporting a safety defect involving my 2016 Jaguar Xj. The driver-side door cannot be opened from either the inside or the outside. This failure occurred without warning and has made the vehicle unsafe to operate. This issue presents a serious safety risk. If an emergency occurs, such as a crash, fire, or other urgent situation, the driver may be unable to exit the vehicle quickly. Being trapped inside the vehicle due to a non-functioning door creates a dangerous condition and increases the risk of injury. The vehicle has been used under normal conditions, and there were no prior indications that the door latch, lock, or electronic mechanism would fail. A complete loss of access to the driver door is not expected and suggests a potential defect in the door latch or locking system. This problem may not be isolated and could affect other vehicles of the same make and model. I am requesting that this issue be investigated as a potential safety defect that may warrant further review or recall. A vehicle door that cannot be opened from inside or outside compromises basic safety and emergency exit requirements.

Passenger front door will not open from outside the car or from inside. Dealership had to replace 2-cables, actuator & cable, and latch. The Jaguar forum has several complaints about this problem. It can be a computer issue in some cases but usually a cable or cables that fail. Essentially the door will not open leaving the passenger to either evacuate through the window or over the large center counsel. The car was not in an accident, the door was not slammed weather was warm and sunny when the door malfunctioned. I see this as a real safety issue! what if I took my elderly mother to the emergency room because she was having chest pains. When I get her to the er we cant open the door to get her out and she dies while they try to pull her 200lb body though the window? obviously this would be an extreme circumstance but, this could be a dooms day scenario for an unfortunate Jaguar or Land Rover owner.

My wife and I are drivers with 50+ years of driving experience each, with clean driving records. Recently two incidents occurred while driving my 2008 Jaguar Xj that frightened us, where we have been left with no feasible explanation. There were no messages, warning lamps, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The first incident occurred in early December, 2022, with mileage of approximately 66,500 miles. On a cold evening, after traveling 2. 5 miles, I was entering my garage with the brakes applied when the engine revved up and lurched forward uncontrollably, striking a vehicle in front of me. I applied brake pressure as hard as possible, but the car would not stop. If it wasn’t for this vehicle, I would have gone through the back of the garage. The force of this incident caused damage to the vehicle that was struck, as well as front-end damage to the Jaguar, with the hood ornament flying off the car. It scared me because I know my foot was not on the gas and had no idea why the engine revved up so quickly and flew forward with such force. The second incident occurred on January 7, 2023, on a cold afternoon. My wife was driving the 2008 Xj Jaguar and I was a passenger. We were pulling out of a mall parking lot, approaching a stop light where a vehicle was at a standstill in front of us. When nearly stopped, the engine suddenly revved up and the car jolted forward with such force that even with my wife ‘standing’ on the brake, the car slammed into the vehicle in front of us. If it wasn’t for that vehicle, we would have ended up in the middle of a very busy intersection with oncoming traffic. The driver in the vehicle behind us said he heard the engine roar as the car sprung forward. I do not have a police report as this accident occurred out-of-state. Two repair shops have not been able to duplicate the situation.

My 2015 Jaguar Xj , which was in park gear - with engine running, started rolling back on the driveway in a dangerous and unexplained fashion and almost hit my kids and I. There was no-one in the car, and I was able to bring the car to a stop by jumping in and slamming the brakes. The car was rolling, not sliding. I was having a problem with leaking brake fluid and a friend with the same year and model car told me about a recall on their car for the same problem . This problem is caused by padding installed for sound proofing on the underside of the vehicle which traps dirt and moisture and causes the brake lines to prematurely rust which I have an issue with. After having the panels removed for inspection it was confirmed that the pads are install on this particular vehicle and the rust issue is present as well . When I entered my VIN number into your system it's telling me there are no open or in repaired recalled on my car how could that be?.

I was on my way to a gig/job, while I was on the highway, going about 65 mph,the car starts to jerk and the car all of a sudden starts shutting down on me. I almost had a car accident when the car shut off completely. I had to pay for a tow back home since the car won't even start with a jumpstart. Now I can't even turn the car on. I purchased this car on 07/14/2020. Now I have to pay to find out what's wrong with the car, pay for the car to get repaired, I don't know if it's a loss since the last thing I remember was reading �transmission fault� on my dashboard where the odometer is at.

I was calmly driving slower than 35 mph on a city street when the car suddenly slowed down and stopped responding to the accelerator pedal. When I tried to step on the gas I heard a big explosion-like sound. Then all of a sudden the car accelerated to what seems like over 100 mph and the breaks did not work despite me pressing the breaks several times. I shot into 3 cars ahead of me that were at the red light. The other cars received substantial damage; I saw that others were injured. My car was completely damaged/crushed in the front and a fire had broken out. The airbags had deployed and I was pretty much pinned to the seat. I had bought the car from the dealer brand new and had it regularly serviced and maintained. I was the only driver and it had only 30000 miles over 3 yrs.

In weather below 30 degrees f, parked for a period of time on the street, and usually in frost conditions, doors will not open on car. Once you get door to open, usually by lowering window and unlocking from inside, doors will not latch closed. Once car warms up, doors latch closed. Doors need to be held by hand or by bungee cord to keep closed until car warms up and door latches closed. At times, you are able to enter the car, but once inside the drivers seat, you cannot open the door from the inside. During this incident, the drivers window was lowered and door opened from the outside. This usually occurs to all doors, and if fortunate, one door will open. As a further note, door locking system is electronic. Jaguar service technicians could not find issue.

On Saturday, February 9, 2019, at about 5. 45 p. M. I was driving my vehicle with my wife as the front seat passenger. The driving conditions were good and we both had our seat belts on. There were no distractions in the car. I just got off the westbound 118 freeway at the southbound topanga canyon blvd. Off ramp. I turned left and brought my car to a complete stop as there were other cars in the outer lane (closest to the curb. ) the car rolled forward by a couple of feet despite my right foot being on the brake pedal. My wife asked what was happening and I remarked that the brakes were not working. There was at this stage a gap of about five feet between my car and the one in front. I pressed the brake pedal harder and the vehicle, instead of stopping, went into sudden acceleration. Somehow the car veered into the inner lane (closest to the center divider line) and hit a Honda truck on its right side near the front door after it had spun having been struck by another vehicle. 4 cars, including mine, were involved in the crash. My car's airbags did not deploy and there was extensive damage to the front of the car, particularly on the left side. The car was towed to an auto shop and the case reported to the police and my triple a insurance company. I also reported it to Jaguar corporate but did not get much help from them. I am waiting to hear from my insurance company regarding the disposition of the vehicle, but feel Jaguar has to take its share of the liability. Please advice me on my course of future action. Please also investigate this mechanical and electronic failure in the vehicle.

Exiting driveway to 4 lane divided highway from complete stop. Car stationary. Released brake pedal to make left turn. Before turning wheel, car accelerated by itself, when I lightly applied gas,at great rate of speed and could not be stopped or slowed by applying brakes. Had to steer car into concrete pole on which the traffic light rested in divided area to stop vehicle.

While being stopped at a stop sign with foot on brake the car suddenly accelerates. This is the 5th time this has happened, one time resulting in an accident. I have called Jaguar and they blame the driver. I replaced the throttle which contained the same tps sensor that has plagued toyotas. I am going to replace the pedal sensor and if that doesn't work I guess I will sell the car. Each time this happens the car is stopped with the right foot on the brake. The accident was at a school waiting in a line of stopped vehicles waiting to pickup students.

Early one morning we found our car engulfed in flames. Fire apparently started in trunk area, where battery is contained. The car had not been driven that day. Fire 'investigation' revealed nothing. Car was a total loss. This model had a recall that was supposedly fixed 5 weeks prior to my car being manufactured. I don't believe it is truly fixed. No one--not insurance, Jaguar or dot here seems to care a car burst into flame and was a 100k loss! it was completely destroyed. I feel this is dangerous for other 2015 Xjl supercharged owners. If I'd been driving, I could have easily perished or caused a major incident on a highway involving others.

I just read about Toyota recalling late model driver side floor mats, due to slipping forward and interferring with the accelerator pedal. My 2005 Jaguar Xj8l has the same problem. I was able to stop in time to avoid an accident happening.
