Power Steering Pump problem #1

: the contact stated while stopped at a traffic light, there was a rattling and grumbling noise coming from under the hood. Shortly thereafter, the power steering failed, and heat was felt coming from the dashboard and under the floor on the driver side of the vehicle. The vehicle was able to be coasted near a parking lot, and driven into a parking space. Excessive force was required to turn the steering wheel, which was accompanied by grinding noises. The vehicle was taken to a service dealer, who determined that the mounting holes in the side of the engine block used for mounting the brackets that held the power steering pump onto the engine were not drilled properly. This caused the power steering pump to detach, which, while floating around under the hood, caused other components to detach. The dealer attempted to replace the affected components, however the mounting holes did not line up, preventing anything from being replaced. The entire engine was replaced to correct the problem.
