The contact owns a 1989 Jaguar Xj6. The contact stated that the seat belt retractor mechanism failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the passive belt system needed to be replaced. In addition, the contact was informed that they no longer manufactured the parts needed for the repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000 and the current mileage was 148,000. The VIN was not available.
The retractable seat belts for my 1991 Jaguar do not operate. The seat belts are suppose to have a liftime warranty. I was placed on a waiting list the Jaguar of tampa, FL 4/20 2009. I checked with them this morning 03/07/2013 and was told yes I was still on their waiting list for these seat belts. I haven't driven my car since. It sits waiting for the seat belts since 4/19/2009. I have lost the use of my wifes car for going on four years.
