general problems of the 2005 Jaguar XJ8

1 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2005 Jaguar Xj8. Upon shifting the vehicle from park into reverse, the gear failed to change over. The contact stated that the pin function was unable to release the gear due to the transmission not changing. As a result, the brakes seized. The vehicle was unable to be driven and was towed to the contact's residence. Autos of dallas (4472 w plano pkwy, plano, TX 75093, (972) 484-9200) was notified of the failure and indicated that the vehicle was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 04v024000 (power train); although, the vehicle exhibited the same failure as the recall campaign. The vehicle was not scheduled for a diagnostic appointment. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 201,858.

2 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2011

The contact owns a 2005 Jaguar Xj8. The contact stated that when shifting into drive from park, the vehicle accelerated in reverse erroneously. The vehicle was towed to the dealer but the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileages were 37,000.
