1 Other Fuel System problem of the 2015 Jaguar XK

Failure Date: 04/05/2023

My wife parked the car in the garage and we noticed a puddle of gas below the car. After determining that we had a real issue we had it towed to an independent service provider. After inspection by the mechanic he noted that the plastic retainer clip on the fuel pump flange (Jaguar part c2p24406) was broken allowing the fuel line to come out of the fuel pump/filter flange (see photo) and just pumped gas onto the cars undercarriage and ground. Luckily, this must have happened right before she came home. In the initial diagnosis of the problem by me I ended up starting the car in the garage and it just pumped about a gallon of gas onto the garage floor. By the way, just opening the driver's door activates the fuel pump -- so without even starting the car it would pump gas onto the car/garage floor. I was extremely worried that there would be a fire or explosion (possibly by the hot water heater in the garage igniting the fumes). After the mechanic informed me of the problem, I searched and noted that the 2010/11 Jaguar xf had a very similar (if not exact) problem and was recalled for this issue. There were no indicator lights/warnings of this problem occurring. I did not file an insurance claim or have anyone else look at the problem. I initially called the local tucson Jaguar dealer to have it service there (that would be my preference), but the dealer informed me that it would be a month before they could even look at. Thus, I had it towed to a independent service provider. I feel this was a very dangerous failure -- gas pouring out onto the car and ground near the exhaust -- and that we were very lucky to avoid a catastrophic fire or explosion. I feel the issue is the same or related to the 2010/11 recall of the Jaguar xf. I have attached pictures of the defective fuel pump flange taken off my car and a picture of what it should look like. I also added the mechanics invoice for the repair work.

2 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Jaguar XK

Failure Date: 01/04/2013

Incident #1 - Jan 2013: as I was braking to a stop, the car suddenly went to what I would call "full throttle". My foot was on the brake so I firmly pressed the brake to prevent the car from crashing into my building. I tried pumping the accelerator quickly while practically standing on the brake but that made no difference in the rpms. I pressed the button to stop the engine. I re-started the car and it ran normally. Incident #2 - Feb 2013: thinking incident #1, above, was a fluke, I continued driving the car without reporting the incident to my Jaguar dealer. My vice president and I stopped at a mcdonald's, paid at window #1 and as we moved to window #2 to pick up the food, the car again went to ¿¿full throttle¿ with no advance warning with the back wheels spinning. My foot was on the brake as there was a car in the lane in front of me. This time I knew to turn the engine off quickly. Again, the car ran normally after re-starting it. My vice president, jack french, will provide testimony to this incident. Incident #3 - early April 2013: the car was parked all day. I got in to leave for the day and started the engine. While the car was still in park, the engine revved to ¿¿red-line 4 times in a row about 2 secs each. I took my foot off the brake pedal while it was doing this and never touched the accelerator or brake pedal during the incident. After revving four times to red line, the engine went back to normal idle. Incident #4 - April 25th: my vp and I were at a meeting with the car parked for several hours. We got in and drove about 4 blocks. As I braked to a stop at a stop sign with a car in front of me , the engine again went ¿¿full-throttle with no warning; the back wheels spinning. I again pressed the start button and turned the engine off. My vice president will provide written testimony of this incident as well.
