On at least 3 occasions, my vehicle had unintended acceleration and applying brakes did not stop the car. I put it in park to stop. I took it to the foreign performance (mechanic shop) on 11-29-23 after the first time and they said they fixed it. It occurred again on 12-8-23. I again threw it into park. I called the shop on 12-11-23 and they agreed to see it on 12-12-23. I hit a car on 12-11-23 around 11:45 am coming out of my driveway. I had my car towed to mechanic. The other car did not need to be towed. On 12-20-23, foreign performance wrote: "vehicle is driving normally at this time. Checked for any set faults, none stored. Tested the function of the accelerator pedal and the throttle body. Both function normally. There are no bulletin issues by the manufacturer for this problem related to this vehicle. Called the dealership to ask what they are doing to fix this problem with uncontrolled acceleration. They claim to never heard of such a problem and that they no longer work on these vehicles. The problem is well documented nationally and has existed since the vehicle was first produced. Bottom line is that the manufacturer and dealerships have washed their hands on the vehicle. The only advise to give would be to replace the accelerator pedal assembly, the throttle body and the engine control module all together and then program the engine control module to the highest level that is available. Vehicle should not be driven by the customer. " foreign performance said they would not guarantee my vehicle would never do this again after their recommended repairs of $4027. 91. It was christmas, I was leaving on a planned vacation for two weeks and it was complicated so the vehicle is still at foreign performance and no work has been done so all components are available for inspection. No warning lights. Police and state farm insurance have been involved. Needs body work as well after mva--estimate of $1100 per state farm.

Also, while the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle took three seconds to accelerate. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 53,000. The VIN was unavailable.

While accelerating to change lanes my vehicle went into wide open throttle. Despite removing my foot from the accelerator and slamming on the brakes the car could only be slowed to 40 mph. Hit the ignition switch which shut the vehicle down including lights. Appeared I would be rear ended therefore hit ignition and vehicle restarted with car still stuck in wot with foot off accelerator. With engine screaming and right foot fully on brake only able to hold car down to 40 mph. Hit ignition again which shut car down but once again following car about to rear end me and therefore once again hit the ignition with same result with car racing forward at wide open throttle despite no engagement of the accelerator. This time after holding the vehicle to about 40 mph with full pressure on the brake with my right foot, and the engine at wide open throttle, all cars had cleared out of the way. I therefore hit the ignition switch which shut down the vehicle. This time I brought the vehicle to a full stop. I then put the car in neutral (up until this time it had been in drive) and pushed the ignition on the car and it started at normal rpm. I then shifted into drive and the engine remained at idle speed. I then , at idle speed, traveled two blocks to my house. The smell of the burning brake pads was terrible. The next morning I had the vehicle transported on a flat bed truck to the local Jaguar dealer where the vehicle remains to this date. This all transpired over approximately 300-400 yards over a number of seconds. There was nothing on the floor or in the driving compartment that interfered with the accelerator or brake.
The contact owns a 2005 Jaguar Xk8. While driving approximately 25 mph, the contact noticed that the check engine warning light was illuminated, causing the vehicle to loose all power. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they performed a diagnostic test, which determined that the throttle sensor would need to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted who advised the contact that they would perform an investigation and the contact was awaiting a response. The vehicle was not repaired. The current and failure mileage was approximately 18,100.

2008 Jaguar Xk. Gas pedal accelerated car would not stop till put into neutral. Then rear tires spun and smoked did not stop till engine was turned off> check engine light keeps coming on, dealer says it is a sensor, but it has been there several times and light is still coming on. Is this related to Toyota recall?.

The contact owns a 2007 Jaguar Xk convertible. While approaching a stop sign, the contact applied the brakes. The vehicle lunged forward instead of stopping. The brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle kept moving forward at less than 2 mph. The vehicle did not come to a complete stop until it was approximately three feet into the intersection. The dealer stated that the issue was common and to continue driving the vehicle. He was advised to call back if the failure recurred. The vehicle worked normally for approximately 3,000 miles before the failure recurred. In this incident, the vehicle lunged forward and stopped approximately two inches from the preceding vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. They kept the vehicle for approximately 24 hours, but were unable to find any failures. The vehicle was towed back to the contact's residence; however, he is scared to drive it because the failure could recur. The failure mileage was 2,000 and current mileage was 5,000. Updated 09/29/08.
While driving at 55 mph the auto stopped accelerating when pressure was placed on the gas pedal. The car had to be shut off and eventually started again. I brought it to my mechanic and he told me the throttle body is bad. He looked up the records of this problem and found that there was a recall for the same problem for the 3 previous yrs 97,98 & 99, recall s514. Jaguar knew they had a problem for the 3 previous years and did not do enough as is evident by a near fatal accident. I have driven autos for over 35 yrs and this has never happened. I want my car fixed by Jaguar and a recall on this defect. Either way I want this on record of how Jaguar takes care of what could be a fatal situation.

In the evening of 10/12/2006, within one day of driving a newly purchased 2007 Jaguar Xk, upon starting, the vehicle raced independently between 6 and 8,000 rpms uncontrollably. This "runaway" car event could only be ceased by shutting the car down. The vehicle was returned to the Jaguar dealership immediately the next morning with details of the occurrence. On 10/13/2006, the service manager at crown Jaguar, john schnepp indicated that he had reported the incident to Jaguar and had been informed by Jaguar that the vehicle was released with defective software and that there had been at least two other dealerships that had reported the problem already. He indicated that he was instructed to upgrade the onboard software for the purchased vehicle to the most current release. We asked what were they going to do with the other 6 or more other vehicles that they had in inventory. The service manager stated ". . . Nothing unless they exhibit the same problem". We believe that this type of defect is not only serious enough to warrant a comprehensive review of his vehicles in inventory, but also warrants a manufacturer recall. A runaway vehicle could result in not only death or injury to a driver and passenger(s), but also pedestrians. This event was reported in the am on 10/13/2006 via phone to gregory magno at the office of defect investigation at NHTSA. Mr. Magno instructed us to report this defect via this web site.
