Two problems related to fuel hoses lines/piping and fittings have been reported for the 1996 Jeep Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The main fuel line was too long and chaffed and melted, unnotices, on top of the rear end gear box. The large amounts of fuel was leaking over the hot gear rear gear box and splashing onto the hot meffler.
While driving at highway speeds the car backfires and pops, excessive fuel is going through the exhaust system and igniting the pipes/fire under the car.
