Automatic Transmission Gear Indicator problems of the 1997 Jeep Cherokee

Two problems related to automatic transmission gear indicator have been reported for the 1997 Jeep Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Automatic Transmission Gear Indicator problem

The transmission does not have a separated detent for first and second gears, they are combined in a 1-2 position. When shifting into 1-2 position, vehicle's speed decreases to 24-28 mph and will automatically downshift to first gear.

2 Automatic Transmission Gear Indicator problem

Vehicle has no provision for 2nd gear hold. The concern has been reported to the dealer and manufacturer.
