Door Latch problems of the 1997 Jeep Cherokee

Three problems related to door latch have been reported for the 1997 Jeep Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2002

Consumer states that the hatchback door will not open. Dealer notified repaired and replaced. Ts.

2 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2000

Metal around driver's door latch has ripped away, leaving latch sitting with no support. Dealer has been contacted.

3 Door Latch problem

When unlocking the door with the key the door will unlock with the key turning to the unlocked position. But when lifting the handle, the door will not open. Repaired once and dealer cannot duplicate the problem.
