A police report was filed and the contact sustained no injuries. The vehicle was towed and had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

2 Car Accelerates On Its Own problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2010

The contact owned a 1998 Jeep Cherokee. The contact was driving approximately 3 mph when the accelerator went into the floorboard abnormally causing the vehicle to accelerate independently. The contact was unable to control the unintended acceleration and crashed into two vehicles, went over a curve, crashed into a guardrail and then into a fence. The contact sustained injuries to the head. A police report was available. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was 117,400.
