Two problems related to hatchback/liftgate lock have been reported for the 1999 Jeep Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Door on the back of Jeep (99) closes during cool (cold) weather and you bump your head or other areas. The pistons holding the door open do not (and have never) worked properly.
Latch on rear hatch door out of adjustment, dealer straightened lock rod and adjusted latch and rods.
