Air bag light on (don't know if it will work if needed), horn won't work, cruise control wont work = clockspring. Safety issue. No horn no airbag.
The contact owns a 2000 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator was consistently illuminated. The failure recurred each time the vehicle was started. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: (air bags) and 15v046000 (air bags) however, the parts needed to do the repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.
Air bag light started to come on and off intermittently. On the second day it came on and stayed on. On the second day I also noticed no horn and no cruise control. All indications are that it is the clock spring. Emailed Chrysler to see if it was a recall or safety covered item. They stated no that the entire cost to replace it will be mine $300 plus dollars. From my understanding Chrysler is having problems with a lot of clock springs. I feel they should cover this item as it is not an item that should fail that easily.
Cruise control, horn not working, airbag light on. Defective clockspring???.
Airbag light stays on and horn doesn't work.
I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee sport and the airbag light stays on now. I took it to the dealer and they say I need to pay for a 300. 00 clock spring part to fix it. I checked the computer and seen numerous problems with the Jeep airbags not working. Has there been a recall on them? and if not if there's been so many cases of problems with them not working correctly is there anything being done to protect the consumer? thank you.
