Three problems related to car stall have been reported for the 2008 Jeep Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving onto a major roadway with my wife and kids in the vehicle the car just stalled out and I lost all control of the vehicle. Luckily there was no other vehicles on the road. I turned the key to off and started the car right up again. I researched this online to find this is a widespread issue and I cannot believe the NHTSA has done nothing after the entire gm scandle with cars shutting off causing several fatalities.
The moving vehicle inadvertently stalls. The stall has mostly occurred on the highway at speeds of 70-75 mph, as well as on-ramps and off-ramps. The frequency of occurrence is approximately (3-4) times per month. When the vehicle stalls I have to quickly put the vehicle in neutral and restart the engine. Fortunately the engine restarts immediately and I am able to resume driving. The problem was reported to a local (ri) dealership, who was unable to diagnose a problem/defect. I am apprehensive about driving this vehicle, and I am a police officer with extensive training. I will not allow my wife to operate this vehicle.
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep grand Cherokee. The contact stated that when driving at various speeds, the interior lighting, exterior lighting, heater/air conditioner, turn signals, and the windshield wipers would fail sporadically. In addition, the contact was attempting a left turn when the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was inspected by the dealer and they were unable to diagnose any of the failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.
