1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2014

My car (sitting in the garage at a shopping mall) would not start, I tried to start it 5 times, then let it sit a bit and tried it again and it started. Went directly to eastside Chrysler Jeep and they repaired it for me. It took a day but cost me 1,310. 00. I see there are quite a few cars with the same problem. My car's warranty was still in effect, but the dealership did not honor it. Saying it was a second owner vehicle. Sorry, I bought the warranty when I bought it and it should have been honored. Now knowing what I know now that it is a defect in the electrical system, I am lucky I wasn't stuck out on the freeway. I feel like I was taken advantage of and think the company owes me a refund since my car is under warranty.

2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2014

Tipm computer board/module defect. . . Known defect to the manufacturer (poor part product with high chance of failure). Jeep stalled out on road several times with kids in car. . . Part is on a national backorder and still no recall for owners.

Difficulty to start the vehicle and is related with the tipm.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2013

Had intermittent issues with the key. The key wasn't being recognized by the vehicle. Still occurs once in a while. I have to remove the key from the case and slide it back in. It usually works after that. Recently when starting the Jeep. After pushing the start button the engine will crank repeatedly but not turn over. All my gauges work. The vehicle will still lock and unlock. The lights work in accessories. The Jeep will turn over sometimes. The problem is intermittent.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/26/2013

2011 Jeep Cherokee, problems with cranking and fuel pump not shutting off sometimes when vehicle is off. Vehicle is not starting properly but will start after several tries. Then the fuel pump will continue to run when the vehicle is off. Dealership stated it is a faulty relay switch built into the tipm (totally integrated power module) so you have to replace the entire tipm at the cost of 1,000 for the part. And, the part is not available at the moment, on national back order. Hundreds others are having this problem. Fuel pump could just cut off at any moment because of a $10 relay switch that is built into the tipm. This should be a recalled item due to faulty switch inside the tipm that is leaving hundreds of people stranded without a vehicle while they wait on a single part for weeks!.

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2013

Jeep is unreliable turning on. Will crank and crank and crank, but never turn over. After 10 or so tries, will sometimes start. Other times, I have to leave it and try again later. Dealer says it is related to the tipm. Which is backordered, with no estimated ship date in sight. This part is also linked to my automatic brakes, airbags, electrical, etc. My car is still under warranty and the dealer refuses to grant me a courtesy or rental car until the part comes in. They suggested I keep my unreliable car for the time being.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2013

The tipm (totally integrated power module) is on back order and now Chrysler is saying its backordered to January 14, 2014.

9 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2013

The vehicle had been experiencing intermittent problems with failing to start for approximately two weeks prior to the vehicle stalling while in motion while we were taking it in to be fixed. The tipm was diagnosed to be faulty and needed to be replaced for a price of more than $1000. The vehicle is out of warranty, but this part is only available from a dealership and needs programming to function properly. The consequences could be severe if the vehicle dies at the wrong time.

10 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2013

Vehicle doesn't start until several attempts . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Remote key doesn't unlock until several attempts.

11 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2013

Car will crank but will not start. After about 10-20 minutes car will start. Remote start is more successful than turning the key.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2013

I tried to start my Jeep grand Cherokee 2011 with the push start and it turned over but would not crank. I finally got it crank after several tries and waiting five minutes. I have since experienced intermittent problems starting my Jeep each morning or after it sits for more than four hours. In the past week I have experienced difficulty starting everyday. It getting harder to start. I read online that a lot of people are having the same problem and someone recommended using the remote start button to start your vehicle. That is the only way I have been successful getting my Jeep cranked each day. I took my vehicle to the Jeep dealership and they said I need a tipm and it is not covered under warranty. I am a female nurse who drives my car for a living and I do not feel safe in my vehicle. I go in unsafe areas for my job and it is not a good feeling worry if my Jeep start. It is going to cost over 1200. 00 to get my car repaired and part is on back order. I worry everyday that I will get stranded and this is suppose to be an award winning SUV. Please help me!.

13 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2012

The remote start on the Jeep starts but does not run. I was told the tipm was bad in it and cuts off fuel to the Jeep and also causes the ar bags not to work, also controls alot of other electrical parts on the Jeep. I feel Jeep should have already had a recall on this part as they know there are numerous problems anad they are putting people in danger while driving. I undertand there are so many bad they are on back order for "several months". This is not fair to the consumer to be placed in this kind of danger, nor not be able to get the part for over several months.

14 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2011

My vehicle is having trouble starting and my fuel pump continues to pump after the vehicle is off which is killing my battery. I've only had the car for a year and its only two years old.
