I was driving down a straight, flat road about approaching an intersection and a light which just turned green. Was going about 25-30 mph at the moment when it sounded and felt like a tire popped in the rear of the Jeep. I rolled to a stop, pulled off to the side and noticed the tire wasn't popped, but that my rear passenger tire was now resting on the wheel well. I got down to look under and saw that a thick metal bar had snapped in half, which in turn snapped my axel, and ripped my suspension out with it. I got the vehicle towed to the local shop, they looked at it and said they had never seen this happen before. When towing the Jeep, they needed to wrap it with extra straps since the damage was so significant they could not tie the chains under the car in the rear. I am currently trying to get Jeep to send an evaluator. I currently have a case open with them.
The car stalls when pressing on the gas then jolts into gear making it feel and sound like I've been hit from behind, it is slow to accelerate at times and other times it accelerates extremely faster when I lightly push the gas, it will also decelerate at times when trying to accelerate, the electrical will flash all the signals and tell me to service the transmission after I fill my tank mostly and the car will shut off when I stop at a light and jerk until input it in park and turn it off while sitting in traffic. The controls to the lift gate do not always work when pressed inside of the vehicle. The check engine light is constantly on when I took it to the dealer the diagnostic said it was a sensor and valve but the dealer kept the car for a week and only changed the oil which was not needed and shut the light off only for it to come back on one day after I had to demand they fix my car or give it back because they were just holding it on the lot, the suspension and shocks are off they keep wearing my tires and the button for the shift gear fell off while I was attempting to put the car in gear which is an obvious defect.
At low speed turns, left and right, ie in a parking lot or turning at an intersection, popping and groaning from front suspension/steering assembly. Very audible and ratcheting feel can be felt in the frame and steering wheel. Not an issue when driving straight or at speed. First trip to dealer. . . Could not duplicate. Next day, after contacting Jeep consumer service, the Jeep was taken back to the dealer and I test drove the vehicle in the parking lot for the service consultant. The popping/groaning noise was evident in every turn and the car was taken into the service area for suspected "suspension" problem. Next day contact with dealer. . . They think it is either the axles or transmission. Called Jeep and they called dealership. I was then told by Jeep they were replacing the axles. Subsequent msg from service department confirmed they were changing the right front axle but it was back ordered. Now two days. . . No Jeep, no transportation, no loaner.
