The indicator light came on that read service shifter. Then the p r n d lit up at the same time in red.
"service shifter" warning comes up on the dash periodically. Been happening over the last year. Sometime it's a few days or months before it comes back on. Contacted local Jeep dealership who said not to bring it in until the warning is consistent. Also, dealership said they can't check the warning unless it's active. The warning goes away if the vehicle is turned off and back on. Warning has come on while both in motion and stationary. Searched numerous websites and it appears alot of people are having this issue. Why isn't there a recall on this? seems like no one really knows how to fix it.
Single click heard from brake area at the end of braking. Doesn't happen if you turn of stability control or put into snow or sport mode. Dealership cant find reason for loud click. Rotors and pads replaced, happens about 50% of times braking.
While drive the power shifter messaged appeared, every time I turned the car off the light would go off then while driving would come back on effecting the way the vehicle drove. Took to the dealership replace a sensor now my engine is knocking and hard shifting. I kept up on oil changes and other maintenance the care is only at 44k for the miles.
My dash is displaying service shifter and my lights by my shifter are all lit up beside the reverse. It began doing it only in reverse but now, 9 months later, is doing it at any given point. I did a scan on it and it says has to do with the transmission control module and electronic control module.
Service shifter light randomly comes on and turns off when engine is turned off and restarted. Also overhead lights above the rear view mirror turn on and off occasionally. These things happen while in motion and are random. Also when in reverse, sometimes the parking brake engages.
I purchased a certified pre-owned Jeep latitude. Within two months the service shifter light came on and the entire console lit up red. This issue continued off and on until I took it for servicing. This issue showed up while in park in my driveway, when pulling out and then when I stopped at a gas station. It was fixed in minutes ???? but it appears this has been an ongoing issue never corrected by Chrysler/ Jeep.
When driving under slippery conditions the traction control does not work. Have contacted 2 dealers in the area and both have refused to look at it.
Truck keeps losing power like it wants to stall and the service shiifter is on. I took it to a shop and they can find out why the truck is losing power and this is the 3rd time the service shifter has been on.
My 2016 Jeep Cherokee has been showing a service shifter on my screen and all of my lights are solid on my shifter when this happens. I also have to pull over and restart my car after this happens.
Service shifter message keeps coming on with no apparent issue and then the speedometer is not shown.
I was on my way to work and two miles into my commute I noticed that a message appeared on my dash. It is ( service shifter) message. My shifter has red lights illuminated on all the selections in the shifter. I own a 2016 Jeep Cherokee 75th edition, with about 58,0000 miles. I believe a lot of folks are experiencing this issue, which could potentially be a hazard while driving.
My vehicle Jeep was in motion on the interstate when my service transmission light came on and I almost caused a major accident when my Jeep slowed way down. When I accelerated it would hardly move. Mind you I was on the interstate!! very scary experience. This is not the first experience I have had with my Jeep while in motion on highway it jumps bucks and revs up on its own when it was doing that I had to take it to be hooked up to tester to see why my battery light came on? had to replace coil pack #4 and I did it again 6 months down the road and had to replace coil pack #2. The check engine light stays on. My Jeep only has 59064 miles. I am very scared terrified and nervous driving me Jeep.
This issues has happened twice once I was at an intersection and the second time I was on the freeway. I am driving with no issues and then all of a sudden the car loses speed. I will go from 70-0mph with in seconds, all the lights will come on on my dash board and I am unable to speed up or even steer out of the way. The second time this happened to me I was in the fast lane on the freeway with my daughter,no cars behind me because I would have been hit with out a question. It sounded as if the car shut down with out actually turning off. I had the car towed to the dealer where they had no explanation for me both times this happened. As soon as they would connect it to diagnose they said the codes would clear and the car was working. Both times this has happened and now I am scared every time I drive. Now the stereo will not turn on. The screen is on but will not move from the Jeep sigh it will flicker on and off but not ever move from there.
My Jeep Cherokee limited 2016's engine will shut off mid drive. This has happened to me three times while on the road for the past 4 months or so. I fear for my safety and that of my family and friends or whomever may be with me in my vehicle when this happens. The issue begins with the dash starting to flicker, the ac and radio will shut off, any actively enabled functions will shut off/disable (lane sense, cruise control, auto start/stop), two times out of the three, the vehicle engine shuts off seconds after, causing the greatest risk to safety since the vehicle is essentially cruising with no power whatsoever at an average of 70mph (mostly drive on freeways/highways), forcing me to pull over on the side of the road/shoulder in order to break to a full stop, place the vehicle on park and then restart the vehicle in order to get back on the road. I believe Jeep had issued a recall for this exact issue if I'm not mistaken (safety recall u63). I have taken my Jeep to a local dealership to get this issue fixed. I received the assessment from the dealership saying that the recall issue was fixed. A week after I went to the dealership the issue happened again, the check engine light came on but turned off after so by the time I took it to the dealership again, they "couldn't help me" since the check engine light was not on at the time. I also did not have a way to prove that this issue was happening still to my vehicle so I left disappointed and sure it would happen again at some point. As of today 28 March 2019 the issue happened again yesterday on the way to work around 0836am, luckily I was able to record a video of it as it was happening that I would be happy to share, the vehicle did not shut off during the video. I bought this vehicle new, in 2016, from a dealership in wa state.
Randomly. . . . . While driving, a warning pops up on the dashboard saying "service shifter" and all the lights on the gear shift panel turn red. The lights stay red & the warning stays on the dash & I am unable to see my speed limit or any other vehicle details. This stays on until I park & turn my vehicle off. This happens daily at random moments, whether the vehicle is parked or moving, no matter the speed being traveled, & no matter the location. It is always random.
Tl-the contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph approaching a red light, the battery warning indicator illuminated, the transmission seized and the vehicle lost acceleration. The contact coasted in to a parking lot and turned the vehicle off. After attempting to restart the vehicle four times, it finally started. The vehicle was taken to the dealer yark Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge, 6019 central Ave, toledo, OH 43615 , they could not replicate the failure and recommended an oil change. The contact also stated that the failure occurred one other time the week of the 4th of February. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 36,175. Bp.
Stalls for no reason emergency break turns on by itself won't accelerate while originally in motion on freeway turns off while turning electric stability control icons going bizerk.
This is safety concern! 2016 Jeep Cherokee car would stop while you driving high speed without any warning sign and all the light will come on can not shifting or restart the car. It happened on me twice already. One time on highway I-95, one time on a busy local road at PA. Jeep dealership said it was computer updating, I could not get it. After first time they repaired it, I did feel something wired with the car. So I brought it back to Jeep dealership two more time for diagnose. They all said the car had no problem. Not even a month, it happened again. Suddenly stop! this time they still trying to fix it for me, but I could not trust Jeep again. I mean if they can fix it, it would not happened again after three time what ever fix or diagnose.
My Jeep keeps breaking down while the vehicle is in motion and I have almost been in several wrecks because of it. I have now done my own research on this issue going on with cars that have my same year make and model and have been experience the same exact issues as I am all over the us. I have been speaking with some of these people who were writing these comments on the Jeep website and they have all said they are not dependable and highly unsafe as they have also almost got into wrecks because of it. At this point its only a matter of time before someone is gets hurt due to the vehicle shutting down while in motion or worse, death. Something must be done to stop the sale of this unsafe vehicle. I am stunned nothing has yet to be done about this. My car has now been in the shop since I bought it and no one can figure out what is wrong with it. I have had to take it back 3 times and the issue is not getting fixed. Now, I'm told that they are having to open some "star" thing - which has something to do with asking the manufacture if these issues are common and what to do to fix them. This is ridiculous that I have been put through hell and they don't even know if the car can be fixed. As of right now the car is completely broken down and no one knows how to fix it. All these other people are having the same issue with the dealerships not being able to figure out what is wrong so they just give the broken car back to the owner and it goes back on the road. I am telling yall this is very unsafe.
A service shifter light has been an ongoing issue. We had it serviced once. What happens is the light comes on and all gears are lit up as to say you're in all gears p,r,n,d. . . . Etc. The car at times won't pick up speed right away and also pauses when shifting gears.
Service shifter light come on with all gears lights on when driving.
Over the last 2 weeks, while driving my Jeep has lost power. No warning light or anything, my Jeep just dies. It will say "shift into p, then select gear" after I have lost power. My lights/radio/bluetooth all still work, but I can not break nor accelerate nor steer. I was nearly t-boned this am, and nearly rear ended last week.
As of lately, the speedometer toogles up & down through a set of numbers even after attempts are made to reduce speed especially when on cruise control. During cruise control vehicle accelerates beyond set limit & requires extreme force to decelerate. It happens randomly as does many dangerous issues mainly after a software update takes place with the vehicle. If the updates don't cause acceleration concerns it causes vehicle to shut off in traffic & over the last several months a few high risks for major traffic accidents were only avoided by the swift maneuvering of other vehicles or myself when possible to avoid collision. Never before experienced so many malfunctions of mechanical/technological problems from a vehicle. As for if the vehicle was stationary, in motion, on a city street or a highway, turning, braking etc when these issues occured the answer would be my Jeep has stalled, loss speed, shut off and/or speed up under all these conditions. Dealership has me bring it in and they flash the system to "correct" the problem. That is until the next update or some software malfunction causes unexpected scary incident to arise like now with the cruise control that needs addressing.
I was driving down a hill at about 20 mph when my vehicle started stuttering and then shut off. The car pulled up a message on the dash that said, vehicle must be in park to start the vehicle. This was absolutely terrifying. I placed the car in park and then restarted the vehicle. This has happened 2 more times since then. Car is scheduled to be serviced.
2016 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 won't start. When finally start, it shuts off the ac system. 3 times the vehicle was stationary in a parking lot. The vehicle shuts down while on my way to work on a busy street. The battery is still new according to a a tester.
The automatic stop system stopped working. The car turns off when I stop and I lose all power. It happens almost every time I stop. It is scary because I lose all power. The a! light pops up when the cars restarts and then it disappears when I turn the car on and back off. Other sensors pop up for the transmission power steering and 4 wheel drive like something is wrong with the sensor system or the automatic start system not sure what the issue is but it's scary.
First the car kept reporting that my front left tire was low and even after I checked the pressure, it continued to do so. It took several hours for it to stop. Now I have a service shifter error and all of the lights on my shifter are on. I hear a high-pitched electronic sound when I shift into drive. I have read several forums and there are consumers reporting that when that happened to them, their wheels locked up and the car completely stopped. A few of the cars were totaled! I am going to call the dealer in the morning. Apparently this very dangerous problem has not happened enough for Jeep/Chrysler to consider a recall. One last note: when these errors light up on the dash, you cannot access any other information. You cannot even see your speedometer.
My 2016 Jeep Cherokee started having issues. On my way home from work the service transmission message popped up on my display and engine light came on and had absolutely no acceleration capability. Managed to stay with traffic and proceed to the off ramp to a gas station. I followed what it's said on owner manual: turn off the car and turn on the car while on natural for few minutes and the message went away but the engine light was there for a while and got turned off it self. But the next day same issue happened again. I took the car to Jeep dealership, they did not have a transmission specialist to check the car. I had to make an appointment with another dealership, the appointment is for tomorrow. Interesting is the manual says after resetting should not drive the car because it might cause engine problems, and should have dealer to check but the dealers don't check the car right-away they give you appointment for few days later or a week later. I had this car for year and half I drive 3 miles from home to work I don't understand why the car should have a transmission problem at this early stages. I don't feel safe driving this car. Not happy at all!.
A light on my dashboard came on while I was driving at 55 mph that read "service transmission". The odometer stopped working and my car didn't seem to be functioning properly. Stopping at a light, my car nearly stalled when I needed to cross over an intersection. I had to have my vehicle towed to be serviced the following day. I was told by the service station that the issue wasn't with the transmission- but that the car needed a software update. I could have been hit when my car nearly stalled driving across the intersection. I addressed my concern with fca, but was told that software updates are routinely needed and should be done at the same time as my oil change. My car only has 5300 miles and is only driven short distances (mostly on the weekend). This issue should not be happening with a car so new and such little mileage. Also, my car has been kept updated with the necessary oil changes. I don't understand why I am not notified ahead of time if my car needs these software updates? am I just expected to cross my fingers and hope this issue doesn't occur again? this issue greatly affected my safety. And my car wasn't drivable. It's both a major safety concern and an incredible inconvenience.
First of all, this is a brand new vehicle. I bought it 6 weeks ago and it has less than 3000k miles. The vehicle was in motion and it shut down/ stalled out. How can a new vehicle just loose power? the dashboard told me service the transmission. The emergency brake light came on and the check engine light came on. The Jeep sat in the median of a 4 lane busy highway just running. It took an hour for roadside service to have a tow truck to come to me. My baby, puppy and I were just stranded in the middle of a bad storm. Jeep knows of this. They don't care about their consumers. Now my life is in danger with this piece of crap. Crap that costs me $26k! the tow truck driver told me I was his 4th customer today with the same problem as the others who have this exact model. Please do not buy! your life will be in jeopardy or at the hands of an unmerciful company. The dealership told me they didn't even want it back. I'm just stuck!.
