Parking Brake problem #1

The contact owns a 2017 Jeep Cherokee. The contact started the vehicle and became aware that the auto start/stop and parking brake failure messages were displayed. The contact drove to work and parked the vehicle. The contact returned to the vehicle and attempted to start the vehicle however, the emergency parking brake was activated and could not be deactivated. The emergency parking brake light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to dealer and a diagnostic test was performed. The dealer stated that the parking brake was activated, and the parking brake module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA action number: pe22009 (parking brake) as a possible solution. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.

Parking Brake problem #2

The contact owns a 2017 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while parked, the parking brake would not disengage. The contact had to put the vehicle in service mode in order to get the vehicle moving. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the contact heard abnormal noises and he felt the brakes rubbing against the rotors. Several warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed back home. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage approximately 110,000.

Parking Brake problem #3

Tl the contact owns a 2017 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle parking brake engaged independently while driving at low speeds. The contact stated that on one occasion the brake engaged while driving at 25 mph. The vehicle was taken to flemington Dodge Jeep (204 highway 202/31, flemington, NJ 08822, (800)796-9902). The dealer inspected the star connectors and found multiple pins with corrosion. The dealer cleaned the star connecter and added di-electric grease to the connectors. The ipe and ip3 had lose pins in the connectors. The pins was repaired and secured into the connector however, the repair did not correct the failure. The dealer refused to provide the contact with further assistance. The vehicle was also taken to welsh Jeep Chrysler (36 dumont rd, far hills, NJ, 07931, (908)234-0109) to be diagnosed. The mechanic determined that the parking brake was engaging independently. Additionally, the mechanic determined that the four-star connectors and plugs were incorrectly connected and there was no DE-electric grease on the connectors. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 51,994.

Parking Brake problem #4

Tl the contact owns a 2017 Jeep Cherokee. While driving approximately 5 mph, the service gear shifter warning indicator illuminated and the parking brake independently activated. The vehicle was stopped, shifted into park, and then placed into drive. Afterwards, the vehicle operated as intended. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Landmark Dodge Chrysler Jeep ram was contacted by phone at (816) 836-0100 (located at 1900 s noland rd, independence, mo 64055) and an appointment was scheduled to have the vehicle diagnosed.
