Constant overheating , I have replace the cooling system 3 times.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 25v011000 (power train); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The “check 4wd” warning light was illuminated, and the auto start/stop system failed to restart the vehicle. The contact would disengage the parking brake, place the vehicle in park, and restart the vehicle to continue driving. The failure was intermittent. The contact stated that water was leaking into the cabin from the sunroof, causing a shortage in the electrical system. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who had repaired the electrical system, including systems with the starter. The dealer confirmed that parts for the repair of NHTSA campaign number: 25v011000 (power train) were unavailable. The contact was able to start the vehicle; however, the auto start/stop system needed to be disengaged to drive the vehicle. Additional repairs were made; however, the contact was unable to confirm what the additional repairs were. Some repairs were performed by another dealer, jacksonville Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram arlington (9600 atlantic blvd, jacksonville, FL 32225). The contact stated that there was a rattling noise coming from the front end, and the vehicle would surge forward and take an extensive amount of time to come to a complete stop. The failures were intermittent. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who repaired the front suspension, ball joints, and steering knuckle on both sides of the vehicle. The mechanic advised the contact to return the vehicle if an oil leak occurred. The contact stated that approximately a month after the repairs were performed, there was liquid on the ground underneath where the engine compartment and the vehicle were taken to a certified mechanic, who had diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the engine filter housing and filter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The man.
My Jeep has been randomly stalling while driving in the city. The check engine light came on. I had to tow my Jeep to the dealer. They said it was because of low oil. I just had an oil change 3 weeks ago. The oil life was at 100% when I got the oil changed. When the car started to stall, it said 50% oil life. The dealer found no oil leaks. I have read on here that this has happened to several consumers with the 2018 Jeep Cherokee. Further investigation is needed on this issue.
My car keeps stopping in the middle of me driving. I've had the car about a year and a half. Today the electric throttle light is flashing and car did not want to go in the middle of a double intersection and highway. Yesterday it read oil pressure.
1) engine turns off while driving the vehicle and the dash tells me to shift it into park. After the car is stopped and shifted into park it makes a starting noise as if you are trying to start the vehicle as if it is flooded, but it will eventually start after approximately 30 seconds. After approximately 30 seconds the vehicle starts sometimes without even pushing the start button. 2) the vehicle dies often when turning, driving over small amounts of snow, backing up, or exerting the engine at all. It usually does not shut off while driving straight down the road without exerting any energy unless there is snow causing the engine to exert any energy. This has caused safety risks to me and others in the following manner: a) it has caused me to stall while turning onto the highway from side streets which I have narrowly avoided being t-boned and side impacted. This can cause injury or death to myself, my passengers, pedestrians, and traffic. B) it has caused my vehicle to stall while on the roadway when it exerts energy due to snow and causes me to spin the vehicle out of control in traffic which can cause injury or death to myself, my passengers, pedestrians, and traffic. C) it has cause me to stall while backing out, or pulling out of parallel parking with traffic which can cause injury or death to myself, my passengers, pedestrians, and traffic.
Within the last 6 months this vehicle has left me stranded at least 5 times. The first time it overheated because the heating coil is so close to another line that is created a hole that caused the vehicle to overheat. The second time was an ignition coil. The third time was because it was time for an oil change which was not the case because it wasn't even time for an oil change. The other times were (battery) related but yet with the battery being replaced 200 bucks later I am left stranded on the road in the middle of traffic without any indication that it was going to cutoff. I fear taking it on the interstate. Within the last 24 hours I have been left stranded after having the dealership again yesterday tell me I need a new battery which I replaced but yet broke down again this morning. The vehicle will start but it seems like now 2-3 minutes it cuts off while driving and has to be jumped by another vehicle. This has to be an electrical problem. . . The lights don't dim; everything stays on for a bit once I take the keys out, but yet I am being told my VIN has no recalls. Once again there is no lights or anything that appear on the dash letting me know where is an issue.
The car burns oil too fast. When the car is low on oil, there is no indication and the engine will stop. Even when you are driving.
Service shifter light comes on and stuck in whatever gear due to all the lights light up and you don't know what gear it is in , TSB has been issued for Jeep Cherokee and dealership wants to charge diagnostic fee , this is a manufacturer defect and needs to be a recall !!! ASAP.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle stalled and stopped in the middle of the road. The contact stated the instrument panel had begun to flicker on and off. The contact was able to restart the vehicle however, there was vibration, and the engine was running very rough. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the electronic control module and the throttle body and O2 sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle had been repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The indicator came on stating the engine was running hot. Turns out there was a leak in the radiator. My car is less than 4 years old and just hit 60,000 miles. Is this the normal life for a radiator? I feel like it might be faulty and should have lasted longer than 3. 5 years.
When the car detects low oil it shuts off. The engine sputters and the car will shut off- even when driving- causing a safety issue. There is no low oil indicator light. I had pulled from my street into a busy highway and the engine sputtered and turned itself off. I could not restart it. Happened today and also happened in December 2021.
Vehicle has stalled on multiple occasions. Safety hazards include stalling in middle of intersection and being stranded. Call out for service at this time, therefore problem has not been reproduced or confirmed. Not inspected yet. No police involvement. No warning light-including battery or engine light- upon initial start of vehicle. Battery and engine warning lights visible at time of stall. Battery was turning over but engine not engaging, however, able to restart vehicle after multiple attempts. No jump start required. Warning light disappeared after restart of vehicle and only reappeared upon subsequent stalls. No apparent issues- other than stalling- while vehicle is driven. Problem has been very inconsistent.
While driving, vehicle shuts off without warning, this has happened 3 times even though the car was supposedly repaired with a new battery and a new alternator.
The whole car stopped while on the highway going 70 miles per hr and would not start back up. I had recently had an oil change days before incident. Had the car towed to dealership and was told I had little to no oil. I advised them I recently had an oil change days ago how is that possible at the dealership. I was told that maybe a cap or something wasn’t placed back properly and there was oil leakage. They assured my car was fixed but now it runs rough and I have anxiety that my car will just shut down with no warning and also the low oil light never came on the car just stopped.

This vehicle is a 2018 Jeep with 37700 miles on it. When driving the recently it would stall in traffic. Then it was difficult to restart for a few minutes then it would start again. But yesterday it stalled in city traffic and wouldnt restart. No error message on the dashboard. So I had to have it towed to the dealer. The dealers early assessment is that their significant oil loss in the engine. The engine appears to be damaged now. From the recent oil leak. Dealer stated its not from owner neglect or abuse of the vehicle. The engine shouldnt fail for a 3 year old car with 37,000 miles on it and no neglect. Its a manufacturers issue. This vehicle is my daughters college transportation. Thank god she wasnt rear ended when the car stalled and wouldnt restart.
Engine stall, shuts down while driving.
Coming to a stop at a stop sign and the dash made a ding followed by the engine light coming on, the shifter went into park on its own, the display stated “shift to park and then select desired gear”, lights flashed on the shifter console. Unable to drive I had to restart more than once. Car barely restarted before I was able to shift again and continue home.
In two instances, I have been driving my car and the car dies. Both times there was no oil. I take my car for regular servicing and oil changes and have also taken it to the dealership as I felt it was burning oil too rapidly. They determined there was no issue but I am having to put 3+ quarts every 3000-5000 miles even with oil changes. But when the oil is low there is no indication and the car will die while driving.
When driving, car completely turns off with no warning. No icons are lit to possibly tell of issue. Car has done this numerous times.
When turning and/or accelerating from a stop engine stalling and won’t turn on until after a few tries. Also, oil light for a split second and battery light once stalled. Have had numerous fresh oil changes and once about 50% life on oil give or take the car starts to have these problems.

Made a right turn onto a street and heard a single ding(the same ding it makes if seatbelt is off) then the car turned off, the red battery light briefly came on and then turned off. I rolled out of traffics way onto the shoulder and placed my car in park and tried to restart it. Car would not restart initially. After 3 tries the vehicle restarted and I was able to make it back onto the road. - the engine shut off and the power steering went out. These are available for inspection upon request. -the vehicle stalled in the middle of traffic so not only my safety but the safety of other drivers was at risk as my vehicle was turning a corner and not able to accelerate as other drivers came up behind me causing them to swerve. -the problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center however my wife and I have experience the same issue at two different times. -the vehicle has been inspected by the dealership where the vehicle was purchased brand new and they were not able to provide an answer to the problem. -there were no warning lamps or other symptoms prior to the failure.
Car stalled entering onto highway. Alternator went out.
Car turn off on its own error code p2172 u1428 maybe throttle body. Other Jeep have a recall on this but my VIN isn’t included.
At random times the message "service shifter" appears, and all of the lights on the shifter turn red. This has happened about a dozen time and has happened when in drive(on highway and streets) and when in park. If I turn the car off and on the message disappears. From all the research I've done it appears to be happening to a lot of Jeep (2014-2019) owners. Seems very dangerous!!!.
We were traveling in our 2018 Jeep Cherokee latitude and at a red light, the car just turned off. We had to sit for awhile and then restart it by putting on the brake and some other thing. We replaced the battery and it ran for about 20 minutes. Then, it stopped while we were at a red light again! it only restarted after replacing the battery twice. We aren't spending money on a new battery until we know exactly what's wrong.
My car went dead while driving. Took to the shop and said there was a "software update/recall" that caused the car to use more oil than normal and I was driving with no oil!!!!! this "recall" update had been released "6 days ago" per my Dodge/Chrysler dealership. Why is this recall not here? sounds very strange to me.
The car randomly shut off while I was at a light. It has done this several times and it is very dangerous. I almost got rear ended. There has been several complaints about this. It was in motion once and the wheel locked up. But it was a very slow motion. Second time I was taking off from a stop.
My sister was driving when the car suddenly turn off on the street. She turned it back on and everything was fine, I'm afraid of driving the car and something worse may happen.
I pulled to my home and the service shifter indicator lights came on. This is the second time that this has happened when putting my car in reverse.
Filled up on gas, when starting the care it stated oil change soon. 3 miles down the road the car started to shutter like it wanted to shut off. With in 20 miles it did this 7 times on a freeway. When on the surface streets if the car was stopped it would shutter then turn off. It would state place into park and restart vehicle. I was not over due for an oil change. I did not let even the gas light come on. I had been driving the car fine till the oil change soon light came on.
The message service shifter appears, and all of the gears on the gear shift light up. There is no specific reason this happens. It has happened multiple times, sometimes while in motion and braking, sometimes while the car is parked. It started when my car was no longer under the 32,000 mile warranty at the dealership. This seems to be a popular issue after I researched it.
Turned on just fine, pulled out to the street from the store gradually. Slowed down for the red light and before I stopped all the red lights turned on on the shifter and then on my screen it said service shifter. I've only own this car for a month and doesn't even have plates on it yet. 43000 miles when bought and I'm not a happy person.
