Electronic Stability Control Problems of Jeep Cherokee - part 2

I have warnkng lights keep flashing out of control 3 lights keep staying on that is tire pressure system and check engine and start stop system , put a code reader on vehicle and it says transmission module my car will rev up while iij n gear hesitate and then jerk real fast and start going super fast without my foot on gas. When I shift the gers knto reverse from park or put in park it makes a loud clunk nouse and shifts hard. Also the tailgate when openkng will open up and imediately shut on me and has hit my head a few times and tried shuting with me in the way. Ive reported problems to the dealership several tume they send me to a dealership for Jeep and they tell me battery needs reset and sent me kn my way and I asked to have transmossion looked at and they have no transmission tech. While in motion ill take my foot off gas to slow down when comi'll ng to a corner or stop and it will speed up on its own causimg me to slam breaks quickly. I feel unsafe in this vehicle. Im not the first owner I was fknanced through bud clary and they can never help me always send me to ncchords Dodge Chrysler Jeep dealership if there is any availability appointments. The issues I have with vehicle are continuous . Really stared bad with lights a few weeks ago. Had car serviced for reg service date on 11th and they couldnt help with my issues recommends me make appointment with other dealership. Ill put the issues with car when its been a everyday occurance to thus last may on 1st. I bought car almost 1 yr ago and have ghad problems since day 1 June 27th 2019.

Was driving and in motion when I heard a ding and the "service shifter" alert came on, and all of the gears had the red light on. I have owned the vehicle for 9 months and have never had an electrical issue before. It is not due for an oil change or any other maintenance service. It is at 47,000 miles and when I called the dealership, they said this happens very frequently but is not covered under warranty, and that I would need to replace the shifter and shifter harness. I am very upset and disappointed with Jeep that this is a life-threatening issue, and it happens "frequently. " please investigate this issue as this is not fair to owners who are now at risk when traveling.

*service shifter* motion* *stalled* the following is the same issue I had with my 2014 Jeep Cherokee. I had traded that vehicle in for a newer 2017 model because of this. . . I have a 2017 Jeep Cherokee. Occasionally when driving at any speed the vehicle will stall and say "service shifter, place car in p or n" - I can no longer accelerate and have to come to a complete stop. Turn off the vehicle. Restart it after several minutes. When I try to restart, the engine has a tough time kicking back on. This is a very dangerous reoccurrence and must be dealt with immediately. This is the second report I have made. The first report was with my 2014 Jeep Cherokee.

I was driving my 2017 Jeep Cherokee and I receive an alert on the dashboard that said service shifter and the lights on prnd were light up and not blinking. The car was in motion when this happened and it shut down. I was actually on a city street twice when this occurred. I also receive another alert telling me to put the car in park before shifting gears. The car was in motion on a city street and the car shut off. I had to wait about 10 mins before I started my car up and press the gas at the same time to get the Jeep to start.

Driving in the freeway and have an accident due to the malfunctioning front collision warning and the not working sensors.

The shifter is not intuitive and provides poor tactile and visual feedback to the driver, increasing the potential for unintended gear selection. Also while at a stop light the vehicle requested me to park, and when returned to drive the vehicle did not drive, I had to turn the car off and back on.

Vechical lost speed, stalled, no power. Will not excell. Engine light and etc light on. On a city street in motion. It looses steering and will stall also. I replaced the battery.

Had brakes and rotors replaced less than 6 months ago and now I'm being told that I need new front brakes and rotors again. There is chugging with my transmission, and a lot of vibration. I am unable to upload anything without having a mechanic take everything apart to expose it, and I can't afford that at this time.

Sometimes the car won't start the windshield wipers comes on without the switch even being turned the emergency brake sets itself the vehicle won't go into gear or jumps into neutral all the lights on the dash board comes on and gos crazy. . Radio is static.

On startup of my vehicle, the wipers start on full speed without any control. The turn signal indicators do not function and my vehicle has rough shifting. Lastly, the running lights on the vehicle do not function when this error is occurring. The error that appears is "shift to p and then desired gear". So I literally have to stop my vehicle (even if I am on the highway) shift to p and then back to d. This is extremely dangerous while on the road. This has happened multiple times and the only way to stop is by stopping the vehicle and disconnecting the battery to reset the software. I have taken it to the dealership and they have flashed the software multiple times, however the same issue keeps occurring. Now I am experiencing a "service shifter" error. This error flashes on the instrument cluster when driving and all of the shifter lights illuminate red. This error happens sporadically and should be addressed as not being able to use turn signal indicators is also extremely hazardous and dangerous while on the road.

I was driving down the road and the shifter warning would come on. All the lights on the gear shift would come on in red and I would have to stop and turn the car off to get them to reset. This is on my 2017 Jeep Cherokee limited.

This happens every day while driving. I will be driving (no certain speed) but I will hear a "ding" & I look at my screen & it says "service shifter" and all my lights light up on my gear shifter. My Jeep tends to have hard shifting once this occurs. I then have to stop, turn my car off and turn it back on. (the pictures I'm attaching are from last week. However, this has been happening for awhile).

The service shifter warning lights came on and all of the lights on the gear shift was on. This seems to be a problem with the Cherokee and it needs to be fixed. This happened while I was driving in the rain.

My vehicle is experiencing frequent stalling and will die on me whenever I make an average turn (left or right), or whenever the car is decreasing acceleration on a normal city street. However, I'm experiencing this mostly when my car is still heating up, so around the first 10mins of driving the vehicle after not touching it for 5+ hours. When my car stalls or shuts off, it still shows that the engine is on through the start engine button. However, I still need to put my car in park, and press the start engine button again while pressing on the gas to turn on my car again. When I do this, the car occasionally will struggle to turn on and sometimes it won't start up on the first try. In addition, I experience my car sounding an alert noise occasionally whenever I'm making a normal turn (when my car is fully heated up), but my car doesn't stall or shut off. Another issue that my car is experiencing is I can tell that my car is occasionally struggling to switch gears when I try to accelerate during while my car is in auto mode. From my understanding, there was a recall on my car model back in 2018 for a similar issue on the automatic transmission. However, my car was never recalled and it was never serviced for anything similar to the recall.

Car shuts off while driving , engine stalls , car downshifts when excellerating on highway . Dealer has replaced engine and transmission, car still shifts rough and has started stalling again.

Right when my vehicle hit 25,000 miles, I noticed that on the highway while in motion the service shifter light came on and gear shift lights all in red, p,r,n,d. You shut the engine off and all turn off then when you start driving again they'll do the same. It'll stop for a few days and then start again. Finally took it to the dealership it ended up begin wires and a shifter harness. A lot of Jeep Cherokee 2017-2019 owners are experiencing the same thing right around the same miles. This needs to become a recall.

Turned on the vehicle and immediately all the red lights were lit up on the gear shifter. It said service shifter and would not move to a different screen. Concerned about this I googled it, and followed instructions to reset. I turned the car off and waited 30 seconds, turned it back on, nothing so I drove away. 10 miles later the car dings, service shifter, and the shift lights were all lit up again. I parked, turned the car and followed the same procedure. Within 6 miles it did it again. This seems to be a problem with Jeep Cherokee's and it is not just the 2018 model years, it seems to be so common that Jeep performed a recall on other Cherokee years.

I was approaching a 4 way stop with my children in the vehicle, going approx. 10mph. I pressed on the brakes but was unable to stop, making me go through the intersection with vehicles turning into my lane. The brake pedal was rock solid and locked up, and was unable to be pressed. During that time the service elctronic braking light populated on my dashboard.

Car stalls while driving. When letting off the accelerator, the car will make a beeping sound and car dies. It takes a couple tries to get the car restarted. This only happens while car is cold. Once it is running for a while it doesn't seem to die. Seems related to the complaints of recall u87.

Service shifter the car turn off on major highway.

Vehicle does not go while on incline at a stop, revs to 3k rpm then will spin out tires. Delayed start at stop lights and speed ups. Had recall done software upgrade twice, drives fine for a couple weeks then back to it. Had numerous close calls while pulling out into traffic have to let off gas and accel again and pray it goes. . .

We have a 2018 Jeep Cherokee. We were driving back home from chicago and we hear a ding. Where the speedometer is the words service shifter popped up. Next to the shifter all the lights were lit up. We pulled over and turned the car off and back on and it went away and continued driving normally. This had never happened before and no signs of anything wrong and the car was driving fine other than the service shifter issue. 10 minutes later on the same drive the service shifter words popped up again along with the lights next to the shifter. We again pulled over turned the car off and back on and it was fine. About 2-3 days later it happened again. I would say now that it only happens 1-2 times a month. Every time it happens we do not continue to drive when it pops up. We instantly pull over and turn it off and back on. Its always went away once we turn it back on but it's does continue to happen. It's never had any issues other than this. We have read that other cars have been affected and that another Jeep Cherokee wheels locked up and they got into an accident. We have contacted the dealership about this issue and they seem to have no idea about this. We are concerned for our vehicle, our safety, and the safety of others.

My service shifter light comes on every 3,000 miles. Two months ago I was approaching a red light and my service shifter light came on and my car just shut off. My baby was 5 months at the time and we were in the middle of traffic. I tried to start it up but had no luck for 15 minutes, it eventually started and continued to stall on my way home.

The vehicle has had multiple problems since my purchase date issues with the sunroof which has continued to persist, as well as a strut, hub, strut assembly, electronic parking brake and also now that I have taken it in there are more problems arising and now I have a check engine light on service all brake system lights on and light and traction control light on and also a 4wd system unavailable light on after taking it in to get fixed and the dealership fixes one problem and more keep arising! the vehicle was parked and then when I turned it back in that's when the parking brake would not disengage and then the sunroof and popping sounds were happening while driving. The transmission issue is when I am driving it is shifting way to often and shifting very wonky. Then also when shift the transmission into gear it doesn't engage and then when it does it litterally could through you forward in your seat when it finally engages.

I was leaving my neighborhood yesterday morning when my Jeep shut off without any warning or check engine lights and would not start. Thankfully I was still close to home and was able to go home in neutral! what if I were on the highway? or in the middle of an intersection! the screen said to put vehicle in park. The radio and lights still work but it does not start. I am financing this Jeep and have had it for 8 months from a dealership. I dont have an extended waranty and I dont know how to handle this. . . I looked up on carcomplaints. Com and found identical complaints to mine of theyre new Jeeps just shutting off mid drive. This needs to ba addressed. Im terrified of this car.

I left work today at 4pm made a right hand turn onto a bridge and I noticed I couldn't accelerate and two engine lights came on the dash and my car completely turned off on me and I broke down. I was stuck on a high trafficking area on a bridge when this happened. I've had my Jeep for 2 years and never once had any issues and never once felt like it wasn't a safe vehicle. I don't feel safe to drive my Jeep now and want it checked out completely before this happens again to me.

Truck cuts off when I make turns or if I stop at a stop light. When you try to start the truck back up it hesitates and when it does start back up it stutters. While driving on the highway the truck all of a sudden while flash a low oil light and say low oil pressure and I just had my oil changed at the dealership. Now it won't pick up speed past 10 and a message is popping up that says check something electrical. I can't even drive the truck because I'm afraid I'm going to cause an accident. I was driving home today from work and barely made it. My check engine light isn't even on. But it's not shifting gears it idiles up and just stays stuck I have to take my foot of the gas to try make it change while driving on the city streets. Arkansas has a lot of hills and I have to go up one to get home and I almost didn't make it up the hill in traffic because the truck started stuttering and the oil warnings started flashing.

I was leaving my condominium, soon after stepping the pedal, brake that message appeared on the on-board computer, then vehicle stopped walking. I was trying to call again, to park the same inside my parking space inside the condominium, started to make a very lucky noise and not calling, had to maneuver the vehicle without starting and still call a winch, to take to my reliable mechanic, that until today we can not find out what the problem is this vehicle, whenever we press the brake pedal, the message appears and does not start the vehicle.

I have had my car in the shop twice for gear shift issue as well as a blower motor 3 times. If I replace this blower motor it will be the 3rd in 2 years. The gear shifting issue was supposedly just an electrical issue according to the dealership and the upon returning with the same issue I was told an entire gear shift replacement was necessary on my 2015 Jeep Cherokee. A supposed recall existed but per Jeep customer service is was only for cars build in 2014 in the month of October. However in a follow up call today 12/13/2019 Jeep was unable to find any recall related to the gear shift or any electrical components that would affect the gear shift or transmission. I would like to request a tracking of calls, emails, reporting of all related issues to Jeeps built in 2014 labeled as 2015 that potentially have these issues and a response to how many vehicles need to be included to warrant a recall. The vehicle issues happen both in park, drive, neutral and in reverse.

Car will shut off while in motion driving in the middle of highway traffic. Brakes and gas won't work. Power steering function is lost. Error message on dash reads service transmission restart in park with vehicle at zero speed.

I have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee, over the last few years I have had multiple incidents with it stopping while driving down the road. I've had it towed to the dealership and was told that it was a flashing update. Another time I was told that it needed an oil change and will often turn the engine off because of this. Yet I never go past my mileage for my services. I always have that taken care of when due. Now my engine light came in while on the highway. No message of why it's on, but I did notice it was having difficulty shifting. Now some other light is flashing and the traction control is on.

When I am driving my car will shift itself into neutral and stall out and then it will shut off when I am traveling 70 mph down the highway. Then when I have to turn it back on I have to turn the key then shift my car into neutral and let it coast a little so that way it will turn over. It has done this 6 times now and the last time this happened it broke down and it would not start back up. The last three time this happened I was on the highway, traveling about 70 mph. When it happened about the third time a different light came on saying my throttle peddle was going bad and that the ignition was going bad as well. I took it to go get the codes read but every where I took they were saying they could not help me and that we would have to pay out of pocket for it. Meanwhile my fiance and I looked up recalls on the Jeep Cherokees and there is recalls on the transmissions and other things as well. And all the recalls are for the 6 cylinder Jeeps but my Jeep is having all the same problems that the 6 cylinder Jeeps are having. But no one will help fix it. I have talked to Chrysler corporation 2 times an each time we talk to them they say it is not their problem and that it is our problem. My car is unsafe to drive and it do not trust to even have my family in it.

My car starts to stall, slow down then jerks and doesn't move afterwards. Then a message comes up saying �shift to p, then desired gear� and I have to shut the car off about 4 times before being able to drive it again. This is while I was driving heading to work, while at a green light.

Service shifter message coming up, all lights on shifter turning red and car not driving properly. Have to turn the car off and back on several times to make it go away.
