Brake Grinding Noise problems of the 2006 Jeep Commander

Two problems related to brake grinding noise have been reported for the 2006 Jeep Commander. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Grinding Noise problem

Failure Date: 05/09/2017

After having the recalled ignition and tcm replaced/reprogrammed the esp,bas and traction lights come and the two driver side brakes and tires lock up, makes a terrible grinding noise, and the vehicle slides while trying to make a turn. This problem occurs while the vehicle is in motion and without warning.

2 Brake Grinding Noise problem

Failure Date: 10/24/2009

The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Commander. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing numerous electrical failures. The lights on the instrument panel and the dome light would stop illuminating intermittently, and the vehicle would stall while driving at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they were unable to duplicate the failure. The contact was also informed that a previous owner replaced the wiring harness, but the failures continued. In addition to the electrical failures, the contact also stated that a grinding noise could be heard coming from the brakes whenever they were applied. The failure mileage was 32,000 and the current mileage was 68,000.
