When idle, the Commander shakes and turns off sporadically.
My vehicle has a blowout head gasket @ 135,000 what will Chrysler do about this.
When trying to crank the car the ignition is very slow and the lights dim. It is trying to turnover but cannot. After a few attempts it starts smelling like something electrical is going on. We attempted to jump it off but it performs the same even when attached to jumper cables. So it is not the battery which was changed 2 years ago and the starter was replaced 2 years ago as well. This has been happening for a while periodically but it always eventually started and never smelled like something electrical was burning. The vehicle was parked in a parking spot in lexington for only a few minutes to run into the retrieve some documents and when returning it just would not start. Once I got home I started looking up common issues with electrical and noticed that there had been several recalls that might apply to my issue. I plan to call our local Chrysler dealer as soon as they open and see if they can confirm and pick it up for repairs that should be covered under the warranty.
2007 Jeep Commander with 112,000 est miles, bought used in ak 2016. A week after I bought it I kept having O2 sensor codes pop up. I have had all sensors replaced more than once and numerous other parts with the latest being the catalytic converter. I have spent several thousands of dollars trying to solve this issue. Today was my breaking point, I was driving on I-24 to nashville to take my son to an appointment at vanderbilt. It was raining this morning, all of a sudden the red lighting bolt and other lights came on. My Jeep lost power, the brakes didn't work, the steering locked up and I was scared I was going to get hit. I put my hazards on and was able to get across 2 lanes of traffic to the shoulder. I shut the Jeep off and turned it back on and it was normal again with just the check engine light on. I was so scared to drive back to clarksville, fearing that it would happen again. I saw that I am not the only one who has had this issue. I called corporate and they said there is nothing really they can do. I said what is it going take, someone, dying or getting into a wreck?? I am disappointed in how this has been handled. My latest carfax shows that this Jeep has had the same issues over and over, with nothing really getting resolved.
Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Jeep Commander. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle started to hesitate when the gas pedal was depressed. No warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle stalled. The contact waited approximately 10 minutes, then restarted normally. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer zimmerman motors 1301 market street, sunbury, PA 17801, they could not determine the cause of the failure. The contact also stated that the failure occurred every time the vehicle was driven for the past four months. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle had been at three unknown independent mechanics, that could not replicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 128,000. Bp.
Our car won't start.
4wd system also light on when driving, and on the dashboard parking yellow light stay on, in motion in the city and highway.
My Jeep is losing power while driving. This has happened on numerous occasions and when I take it to be looked at, I can never get a straight answer. I continue being told it's transmission issue (transmission oil cooler, fluid, lines). My car slightly jerks into get when shifting from part to another gear, and the parking assist message flashes on. After reading all the similar complaints online it seems the issue may be with the shift module. With so many complaints it would be nice if this could be a recall and corrected.
When driving on freeway at high speeds the car shuts off and then back on again, when it happens the engine stumbles and the engine warning light comes on for a second and then back off. It makes for a dangerous condition. No codes come up though. Took it to the dealership and they put a new ignition key switch in but it still has the problem, they say there is no recalls.
After having ignition switch fixed due to recall and battery, alternator and starter checked, we can not find an issues. It was serviced by a Jeep dealer. My Jeep will not start or will start and then after parking, will not start again. It leaves me stranded in parking lots and wherever I park it. This only happens after parking and turning Jeep off.
Vehicle had the ignition switch fixed with the prior recall, but I am still having an issue with the engine light which has turned on and the vehicle slows down and seems to go into neutral while driving. This occurs around 20 mph, local roads and luckily not on a highway yet and if I press the accelerator nothing occurs and the traction control light flashes. My truck has not come up under the recall for this issue but I feel that it is related especially after reading all of the complaints, please help.
While in motion on an interstate, going about 70 mph the vehicle began to decelerate. The electrical warning panel flickered. When the accelerator pedal was depressed the vehicle failed to respond. The vehicle would only go 30 mph with accelerator pedal depressed completely. Needing to get off of interstate, the vehicle continued to only go 30 mph on a city street. Occasionally, the vehicle would shake, jerk, and the electrical warning panel would flicker. Transmission over temp warning light then came on. Took vehicle to a transmission repair shop. Unable to put vehicle in reverse, vehicle will not respond. Waiting to be inspected to determine the problem.
Vehicle stalls while driving on highway at speeds of 70 mph. Reporting problem pcm system software programming.
Nhtsa recall number: 14v-438 recall date: September 3, 2014 manufacturer recall number: p41 "summary: some Jeep Commander and Jeep grand cherokee vehicles may experience an unintended change in ignition switch position while driving. Safety risk: this may result in loss of engine power, power steering, and braking assist increasing the risk of a crash and disabling one or more of the vehicles safety features including the frontal airbags. Remedy: Chrysler intends to repair vehicles free of charge (parts and labor). However, the part required to provide a permanent remedy for this condition is currently not available. Chrysler is making every effort to provide the part as quickly as possible. Recall status: recall incomplete. Remedy not yet available" I have had several incidents where all electrical other than the power train fails, including air-conditioning. If I jiggle my ignition switch everything comes back on. If this recall has such a high risk level of crash, injury, and even death, why hasn't Jeep come up with a remedy. I worked in the united states army combat readiness/safety center which deals with accident investigation and truly understand the risk of injury or even death that comes with this potential materiel failure. If I were the ceo for Jeep or worked in their safety division, I would not put this off any longer. It has been over a year since the discovery of this potential materiel failure and Jeep has done nothing. I recommend that Jeep is proactive to this failure rather than reactive.
I have had my Jeep for just over 2 years. This has happened 4 times and this is the forth time I've had to have the shift interlock module replaced. The car loses all power, you can't control it. I have been fortunate that it has caused a crash or fire or death but that is because I'm scared to death to take the vehicle anywhere. Last night the lights on the dash all came on - service engine, stability track, abs, break, etc. The car shifted into prnd and I could not accelerate. Fortunately I could brake and stop before it got ugly. This is unsafe. If you read the Jeepcommander. Com/forums it is full of similar instances. What has to happen before Jeep is made to fix this issue?!?!?!.
My Jeep had an issue while I was on the highway driving 55 miles per hour. The park drive reverse and neutral lights lit up and I could no longer accelerate. I was rear ended with my children in the car. This is the most dangerous vehicle I have ever owned. I have had I to the mechanic for repair and the mechanic called Jeep and Jeep was not clear on how to fix it. My mechanic reset my computer and it corrected the problem for a little while but now I was in an accident. I am telling everyone who will listen. This is dangerous. It's a bad product and it needs to be recalled. I know that people need to die before they do something. I am just glad it wasn't one of us tonight.
While idling in a driveway, the check engine and esp/bas lights came on. The vehicle did not stall. Shortly afterward, when driving about 55-60 mph, I realized the cruise control no longer works. I tried multiple times to turn it on, but it does not come on any longer. The esp/bas light went off about 10 miles later, after I stopped to fuel up the vehicle. The check engine light remained on. About an hour later and another 35 miles later, after making a stop, the check engine light did not come back on when restarting the vehicle. Later in the afternoon, while it was in the neutral gear and going through an automatic carwash, the vehicle stalled twice. The rpms were constantly up and down between 500 and 1500 rpms.
While commuting home, esp/bas light lit up. Remained on until the following morning.
Driving 65-70 on toll road. Passing semis when check engine light came on, engine stalled, lost power steering. Had to pull over to the left shoulder of the road. Shifted into park, turned ignition off, restarted. Check engine light stayed on. Drove home. Noticed esp/bas light was lit. Did not drive vehicle until the following Monday. Check engine light was no longer on.
While I was driving the car automatically shut off and will not turn back on for a while. Other incidents where the ignition will nit work at all, the car can be completely off and the back window will automatically opened. While the car is running all the light begin to turn on and off in the car.
I was driving down the highway and check engine light dings and vehicle comes to a stop, I was able to drift off to the side of the road but steering was locked up. Engine completly shut off. After about 5 mins I was able to restart engine and now the check engine light bas and traction control lights are on.
My situation began on Jul 10, 14 when my vehicle began stalling while driving. Since that time, this vehicle has been stalling and quitting on the highway/city streets and sputtering along every time I drive it. This vehicle stop running on me while driving 65 to 70 mph and I have to pull over to restart it. This is at a standstill and cannot be restarted while coasting. Another time I was at a stop light and the motor died when I applied the gas pedal. Even while turning onto a major highway has given me scary moments. Even while at a stand still, the engine has died on me. These incidents that I have described have happened to me and my wife more than once for each situation that I mentioned here. To the best of my judgement, my situation is a major safety issue and an accident waiting to happen. The situation here is that the engine sputters/stalls and quits on me while driving. The cause to me is unknown since I am not a mechanic. As stated, this started Jul 2014 and has been ongoing to date.
We have only owned this used Jeep for not even two months, bought from us auto sales oct 18 2013, vehicle began jerking around all over out of the blue could barely drive it almost caused us to get into an accident, had to pull over multiple times, took for service, said it was not transmission or engine, see on internet five recalls, have read many people having issues, today vehicle freezes up while driving twice, decelerates powers down to almost a stall out in traffic while my five kids are in this vehicle with me! very dangerous, read on internet multiple places and people having same issues and Chrysler not fixing problems??? why not do they want to be sued or cause an accident? my vehicle just started doing this now two months after buying it used!!!!! twice in one day freezes up while trying to drive it, powers down wont accelerate, like its stuck in one gear wont go loses power like it will shut off suddenly have to pull over and turn off and restart to get it to stop doing this. . . . Make them fix it before it causes accidents for not just me but everyone else that is having this problem search the internet you will find many are having this same issue!!!!!! do your job! I expect something to be done about this at once! and remedied. . . . Do I take this to the dealer to have it fixed? or back where I bought it????? I am reading that Chrysler is refusing to address the issues and multiple incidents are found all over the internet just search it up under make and model and year of the vehicle! and type in loss of power stalling and it says the remedy is a pcm module or something? I really need this addressed at once and told how to fix this as we just bought this vehicle.
I purchasedmy 2007jeepcommander on august05,2013 with 117,578 miles on it. Within a week, I was driving approx. 30 mphwheninoticedthevehiclefeelinglike it had a hard time accelerating, whenitslowed down completely but did not shut off. Panicking, I kept pressingtheacceleratorandmovedtheshifter out of gear when the vehicle jerked and resumed back up to speed. A few days later the vehicle, while traveling at approximately 50 mph completely slowed down again but did not come to a complete stop and service park assist illuminated onthedashboardwithall the gears lit up at the same time as if saying the Jeep was in all gears at the same time. Within a couple of hours the check engine light came on. I brought the vehicle to a repair shop, were they scanned the code and told me it wasn't a "real code" probably a computer malfunction and it should turn off on its own, which it did, a day later. This has happened at least 8 different times throughout the 5 months of owning this vehicle. Finally I looked onlinefor recalls, there is a power-train and electrical recall for the time my Jeep was manufactured, explaining all the same troubles I've been having, however when I called Chrysler customer service, I was advised I had a side airbag recall but nothing on power-train. When I told the representative that the warranty was for my vehicle in the time it was manufactured she told me it wasn't in the system and that if I wanted it fixed I would have to go to the dealership pay for it and keep my receipt and when Chrysler came out with a recall for my Jeep I could come forward. Meanwhile, I'm driving around in a documented unsafe vehicle with my 18 month old in the back and I have to either wait for this car to cause an accident or enough people complain and they issue another recall. Please help, I just want this vehicle to be safe for my children.
While driving on an interstate at 65mph my check engine light came on, a message stating "service parking assist system" appeared, and drnp was blocked on the front dash. The vehicle lost power and acceleration and began to feel as if the emergency brake was applied at full force. I pulled off the highway, turned the car off and back on and the check engine light remains on. Online research suggests this is a common problem involving the electronic shifting module and/or connection issues with the rear parking assist sensors. This pervasive problem should be rectified with a recall at no cost to customers.
When shifting out of park, Jeep will shift hard and lights around prnd are illuminated and error message "service park assist system" is displayed. When this happens, you have to put car back in park and turn it to the off position to reset. Sometimes this clears it,sometimes it doesn't. After about 4 times in a row, the check engine light comes on and stays on for days at a time. This issue also happens when the car is in drive and you are actually driving down the road. It has caused me to be rear ended once and almost rear ended many more times. Luckily when I was rear ended, we were in a parking lot and only traveling at a slow speed so there was no damage/injuries. This is beginning to happen on a daily basis and it is only a matter of time before someone is killed due to Jeep's denial there is a problem and refusal to fix the issue. I have taken my car into the dealer multiple times but they are unable to recreate the issue and therefore say there is no problem. An auto parts store was able to pull a code one time (u0404) but couldn't determine the meaning behind the code and couldn't tell me what to do to fix the problem. I have found through a prior google search that this issue has been reported before and that a prior recall was issued for this problem. Of course, my car and apparently everyone else's weren't part of the recall and are therefore still not repaired considering the part to fix the problem costs around $1,000 before labor charges! I hope someone can force Jeep to fix these vehicles before someone loses their life because of it!.
I was driving home from picking up my daughter from a school event when suddenly my car slowed down on its own down to 10 mph. Then the car completely stopped. On the control console it only read "service park assist" and the drive position controls where all highlighted and boxed out (drnp). I lost all control of the vehicle other than turning the wheel. I tried to accelerate by pressing the gas and it just revved the engine and did nothing else. I swerved off the road and hit a median that took out the tire and left damage to the left of the car under carriage. I had to shift the gear into park and back to drive in order for the car to start up again. I took the car to a local Jeep Chrysler Dodge service depot and had it ran for a diagnostic for at which time they told me that it was a common issue found in this model and earlier models and that it wasn't covered by the power train that the vehicle would need $1100. 00 in repairs to fix an electronic transformer shift modulator. I had just purchased the car on October 31 from a Jeep Chrysler Dodge dealership and less than three weeks later the car is for crap. And the dealership refused to fix the problem and Jeep has not issued a recall for this issue but they have for the 2006 model. This problem is life threatening. It can occur at anytime at any speed. If I were on a expressway my children and I would probably be dead. Jeep needs to be pursed for this issue and forced to fix the damage on any vehicles reporting this issue. You can also refer to claims 10379415 10381239. There are also hundreds more complaints online at sites like Jeepcommander. Com.
As of June 8th 2011 I bought my Jeep used with approximately 42000 miles on it soon after it started having filling issues then for a while the issue ceased now about a month before date of stall listed above it started with the same filling issues except worse now causing it to not want to shift into gears as normal car would, kinda jerking in between shifts from different speeds and rpm increase and decrease. It has stalled on me twice now. The first time on the interstate at 70 mph with my 3 kids and pregnant wife in the car causing all power functions to be lost and we almost got ran over by a transfer truck trying to get to the shoulder of the road. I had it look at and the throttle body and intake cleaned of carbon deposited and now today June 12th 2012 it stalled again getting off the interstate heading to my work. Still filling high and low and stalling and jerking between the natural shifting of the transmission.
The above information was for the first time this incident occurred. While driving at any speed the car will stall out of no where due to the electronic shift module. I had it replaced 11/08 which was only a year after the car was made. It is completely acting up again and the module needs replaced again. I understand that they have not recalled this issue but there are over 145 complaints of the same issue but yet on your website it says a recall is necessary when there is a safety-related defect in the vehicle or equipment. A safety defect is defined as a problem that exists in a motor vehicle or item of motor vehicle equipment that: poses a risk to motor vehicle safety. Examples of defects considered safety-related:steering components that break suddenly causing partial or complete loss of vehicle control. Accelerator controls that may break or stick. Critical vehicle components that break, fall apart, or separate from the vehicle, causing potential loss of vehicle control or injury to persons inside or outside the vehicle. Along with the above I have children and if they are inside this vehicle while something happens just wait until I slap the lawsuit along with the many others as a result of this issue that nobody is doing nothing about. I almost was rear ended on the expressway by vehicles going 75 mph because of the car stalling/not wanting to accelerate! I want answers and I want them now!.
