1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2022

It randomly loses all power and it seems to shift erratically at this time as well. The check engine light dings once then disappears with out storing a any codes to diagnose. It only does it while I'm driving and if it happens while braking it loses the ability to brake. Very dangerous car, bought from dealership, told it had no problems due to not having any check engine lights and didn't do it on the test drive. As is warranty.

2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2015

While driving the car would just shut off at random losing brakes, steering and engine power as well as other comfort features. It has happened on at least 6 occasions, usually you could just shift to neutral while driving and restart the car fixing the issues. Today however it happened will switching lanes to the center turn lane. Upon applying the brakes to wait to turn left the pedal went to the floor, then on the second depress it was super stiff and very little braking force applied. This caused the Jeep to rear end the 2 other cars waiting to turn left. The airbags didn't deploy either.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2014

Driving to work at the normal speed, my vehicle just turned off in the middle of traffic, which resulted in the car behind me hitting me. I am deathly afraid to drive this car. When I went to Chrysler & called several times, I was told I was out of luck & couldn't be helped. I was even hung up on. I'm not sure what to do besides contacting the news & hiring an attorney, which isn't in my budget. Is there anyone that can help me?.

7 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2014

I received notification from Chrysler awhile back that a defect on my vehicle has been identified. It was a case opened in June, 2014 by NHTSA for pe14017. Chrysler said no solution had been identified at the time they sent the letter but the local distributor would remedy the defect without charge within a reasonable time. The local dealer has not heard anything from Chrysler. I don't know what "reasonable time" means but wanted to ask you how long you think I should need to wait before a solution to correct the problem which Chrysler says "may experience unintended change in ignition switch position while driving which may result in loss of engine power, power steering, and braking assist increasing the risk of a crash and disabling one or more of the vehicle's safety features including the frontal airbags. " thank you.

8 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2014

Vehicle has turned off multiple times at highway speeds causing near fatal collisions, dash board would light up completely and blink on and off as if the key were turned off and on. We make sure that there is sufficient clearance from the key to our knees and we have never accidently hit the ignition. We have had this happen approx. 15-20 times over the last year and the most recent time last week with both our 8 and 9 year olds in the vehicle on the highway. We need some help on resolving this issue and we are afraid that we will have an accident if this continues to happen.

12 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/27/2012

While driving down the road the Jeep shut off, complete loss of power, brakes and steering then after a few seconds turned back on. This had happened 4 times within 10 mile. This is not the first time that this has happened. I had taken it to the dealership so they could plug it into their computer. The results were negative and could not find any problems. Searching online, there are several other Jeep owners that are having the same problem. There needs to be a recall on these vehicles before someone gets hurt or killed.

13 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2012

Slowing down at a traffic light and the vehicle stalled. Again coming close to causing a major accident because of so much traffic. , the vehicle would not start agin for about 30 minutes cause grid lock and chaos. All I could here was a clicking sound when trying to start it. This happened multiple times after that and the last time I ended up having to steer into a steep ditch to avoid rear ending an 18 wheeler. I had my kids with me at the time. I contacted the dealer and got no help.

17 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2009

07 Jeep Commander w/ < 30k miles, shuts off while driving. Various speeds, various gears, various gas levels, various terrains. Truck has done this +/- 5x's over the course of the last 7 mos. No indicator light, no warning. Results in complete loss of power steering & power brakes requiring the need to coast in neutral to safe location and ultimately pulling the emergency brake to come to complete stop. Trouble then getting Jeep into park for a restart. Jeep has been in dealer shop for each instance to no avail, dealer cannot solidify problem. 1st diagnosis was shift module; 2nd diagnosis was shift module 3rd diagnosis was upgrade to software for shift module; 4th diagnosis was low transmission fluid. Dealer is empathetic, Chrysler is not. Chrysler issued us a check for the amount of 2 lease payments but has not remedied problem.

18 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2009

Since I purchased my Jeep Commander I have experience total electrical failure while driving on many occasions. This happens approximately every 6 months. While driving in speeds varying from 20 - 70 miles an hour my car will lose power. Prior to losing power all dash lights, tachometers, hazards, warning lights and performance indicators will flash repeatedly, very quickly. Within moments of the flashing lights my gas will shut off, my brake system completely fails and my steering will completely lock up. I have absolutely no way of controlling my vehicle in any manner. Several times my vehicle has stopped in major traffic. Numerous times other vehicles have had to make drastic maneuvers to avoid crashing into my car. I have almost been rear ended and was nearly t-boned when my car died as I attempted to make a left hand turn. In the event that I am hit, my airbags have no power and will not deploy. My windows and locks have no power. My children and I could be trapped in my car. I have taken my car to the Jeep dealership that I purchased it at and they refuse to fix it and will not provide a replacement vehicle that is not a death trap. I have called the Chrysler recall assistance center and was told no parts are available and have no indication as to when or if there ever will be. I cannot sell my car because no one will buy it knowing it has such major safety issues. This is the only vehicle I own. I have 3 children that drive in this car everyday. One of my children has cancer and I need a safe reliable car to take him for chemotherapy treatments. Chrysler is not accepting any responsibility even though I was mailed a recall notice. Please help!!!!!.

19 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2007

Traveling to stoplight, and when I went to brake, the brakes did not catch causing me to crash into the car in front of me.

20 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2007

The brake system would lock up at high speeds, drivable and you feel the friction and it's like a tugging effect until you brake and then it would be completely fine. This first happened back in June of 2007. I brought the car in to have the dealer look at the problem as soon as it happened. They said everything was fine and they couldn't find anything wrong, nothing showed up on their tests. This brake problem happened occasionally through the year with no warning light appearing on the panel and it was brought to the dealers attention and always the same result, nothing they can find in their tests. But lately this brake problem was happening more frequently, more random and progressive and again was brought to the dealers attention, 3 different dealers in fact. And still nothing they can find.
