3 Engine Stall problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2014

Driving at speed on a parkway, the car engine stalled out. Lost all electrical (radio, speedometer, tach, etc. ) and was able to pull off to side of the road. Brakes and steering worked, but not ps. Car started back up with turn of ignition. This is the second instance of this happening, first one was about 2 years ago but don't have info. I happened to pay closer attention this time given recent history of ignition recalls.

4 Engine Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2014

My vehicle stalled over 5 times in first 10 minutes of operation. Once I got to 50-60 mph the engine with hesitate and stall out at high speeds and require a shift into neutral to restart. This has been a consistent issue with my Jeep Commander since the day I purchased it in 2012. I have had the vehicle in to Jeep/Chrysler on 4 different occasions and they have never found the issue. I had to leave my vehicle with naperville Chrysler/Jeep/ram/Dodge on Friday 6/20 because it was not drivable and dangerous. They determined that it was the camshaft position sensor. I have read that 100's iif not 1000's of Jeep owners have had similar issues and to date no recall or fix. Shame on Chrysler, somebody will be injured because this issue.

Failure Date: 09/01/2013

2008 Jeep Commander 4x4 loses all power at high speeds taken back to reedman-toll dealership x2 in April 2014 and Aug 2014, and they cannot identify problem. Reedman told us gas cap could cause engine light to go on, or win module, which was replaced once, may need to be replaced because key chain is too heavy (cannot have multiple keys on chain) and may need tune up. It s soo scarey and dangerous now we see there have been numerous complaints filed. 6 Engine Stall problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2013

Engine suddenly stalled while driving on the freeway at 65 mph. No warning lights came on. I was able to get over to the shoulder and restart the car. I took the car to my mechanic today and they can't find anything wrong. I checked online and found that 2008 Commanders and grand cherokees were subject to a recall concerning improperly programmed front control modules. According to Chrysler my car is not part of the recall, however what happened to my car is exactly the same symptoms as those listed in the recall and supporting information.

7 Engine Stall problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2013

We purchased a 2008 Jeep Commander on December 15th 2012 and have had an issue with the engine stalling. We will be driving and all of the sudden the vehicle engine dies. Its always restarted but we never know when its going to stall out and die. This happened to my wife yesterday and she didn't know how to react. She almost caused an accident when she tried to exit a busy freeway with no power steering. This is a huge safety issue that I think Chrysler needs to address before someone gets killed !!!! I read about this issue online and the problem has been with the front control module. Many Jeep Commander owners have come fourth with the same issue and Chrysler just tells us all the same thing. We didn't recall your specific model so there is nothing we can do or will do. I hope someone actually reads this and helps us out !!! please don't let all of these complaints just go to a black hole never to be seen again !!! I know I am not as rich as the Chrysler ceos and executives who pay people to keep quite about things like this but my life and the lives of my family do matter !!! p-l-e-a-s-e----h-e-l-p !!!!!.

8 Engine Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2012

While traveling northbound on the new jersey turnpike on June 17, 2012, at approximately 4:00 pm the vehicles engine just stalled, rate of speed at the time was approximately 55 mph. My wife was able to guide the vehicle to the side of the road. Got out check the engine compartment, could not identify any issues. Wife restarted the vehicle. This has occurred at least six times over the past six months, seems to be occurring more frequently lately. Most of the stalls seem to be at speeds above 45 mph, but she has mentioned that it recently stalled at an intersection.

9 Engine Stall problem

Failure Date: 04/29/2011

Engine stalls: engine stalls randomly, at a light, around a corner, and even on freeway at 70 mph. Engine will not restart after a stall until the key has been removed from the ignition. I have had at least 15-20 stalls since I have owned the vehicle. Transmission jerks: this started in the last few months. Transmission disengages while driving down the road then suddenly reengages, jerking the car forward. Sometimes the car will continue ok, sometimes the engine will die. Electrical issues: not a safety issue but maybe related, I have had numerous problems with my nav system going dark (won't display until engine restarted) - lost settings. Rear dvd has totally gone out. Dealer says there is a code for "lost communication with radio" due to an open short. Last incident: 04/11/2012 (51000 miles): on interstate 75 mph - took foot off the accelerator to slow down and felt like the engine had died (lost momentum and was coasting). I applied the gas and the rpm's o the engine increased but the car did not gain speed. Felt like transmission had disengaged. The car jerked forward like the transmission reengaged. Momentum was returned for about 1 second then disengaged again. The second time, the engine died and I had to coast to the side of the interstate. Car restarted and I was able to continue down the road. After driving for another 3 hours, the "service 4wd" message came up on the display. Pulled to the side of the road, turned the car off and back on, same message came up. Continued driving to my destination - message cleared. After the car sat in the parking lot for several hours, went back out and started it, the message was gone and has not reappeared. Dealer had car 6 days - there are no codes in the system. They can not duplicate issue. Vehicle dying on freeway is very dangerous and I have small children, please investigate.
