1 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 08/02/2022

The electrical system of my car malfunctioned intermittently causing lights, ac, and the engine itself to go off and on in the middle of the freeway. There was a recall on the 2010 Jeep Commander (same as my car) for faulty electrical system, yet my VIN was excluded. I believe it should have been included in the recall and this faulty electrical system was the cause of multiple repairs done at my expense to the tune of a couple thousand dollars. I ask for a query into this. The electrical system is the nexus of a car’s mechanical system and if not functioning correctly causes all else to eventually fail. The lights would not turn off after I turned them off, removed keys, and exited vehicle. Various lights would flash on the dashboard then suddenly disappear not providing enough time to read them. Many or all dashboard lights and ac would go out intermittently sometimes reappearing shortly later. Sometimes the car would shock me while driving on the freeway and therefore poses a safety threat to everyone else and me. Ultimately the engine went out while on the freeway. Jeep takes close to a month to fix a power control module and fuel pump replacement and fuel line. Reconsider requiring them to extend the electrical system recall to more 2010 Jeep Commanders. An electrical system main control is not a typical thing to need to replace in a low mileage car.

2 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 06/01/2021

The fuel tank skid plate is rotting away, this could cause the tank tank to fall out of the vehicle, this looks like a very common problem with a number of Jeeps and Dodge products.

3 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 04/04/2021

The Commander turns off on its own, brakes on its own, the alarm does its own thing, the esp/bas lights are on, buttons on dash don’t work most of the time, sunroof drain is faulty, and leaks rivers of water into my car! also had my brakes to seize up on me and I couldn’t move from a danged stop sign. I just want a vehicle I can rely on.

4 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 06/01/2020

My car will act like it's out of gas/convulsions, dies suddenly, and acts like it's going to die when driving. Check engine light has come on sometimes. I have only had the vehicle around one year and have had it worked on 4 times for the issue. Still isn't fully resolved. It's was the obvious issue from the start so probably an issue before I bought the vehicle. I was referred to the dealership and they quoted me 600 just for the inspection. I just paid 3000 dollars to have it fixed. Still not fixes.

5 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 05/03/2020

Electrical system is failing. Began with the electrical sunroof will not open/or slide all the way open, the sunroof electrical problem has been this way since 10 years before I purchased it in 2019. Next the panel for the radio and screen panel for am/fm, then the cd player quit working all together. Will not play any cd. Airbag warning light is showing on dash, however, vehicle has never been wreaked. No airbag been deployed. Starting the vehicle, within the past 6 months 2008 Commander has failed to start over 20 times after continuously checking alternator, starter, ect. Informed it is the electrical system failing; by professional. Vehicles electrical system has caused the gears to slip and it is a v6 but drives as a 4 cylinder. Driving on highway is dangerous when electrical system breaks down without warning. Suspension and shocks seem to not work well, as the slightest bump is rough and rugged throwing passengers around. All these defects never occurred from April 2020 until recently about December 2021. Electrical system repair is thousands of dollars to fix or replace. This is a manufacturer problem. Please help to correct these issues for the safety of all those on the road. Thank you for your time and consideration.

6 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 05/10/2019

The problem started in January 2019. The vehicle started having idling issues, cold start in morning idles around 900, when put in reverse it dips to around 500 and wobbles back and forth while backing up, put in drive and it would be ok but would stall sometimes at stop sign- check engine light never came on. I had throttle body cleaned and fuel system service done and the engine light came on same day. Took it to the dealer for recalls and they replaced throttle body also. It drove ok for a day and I have the unstable idle back and the rpm jumps up while in drive but stopped at a light. About a week ago I am slowing down to stop at a light ahead and it starts vibrating like it is going to stall and the etc and tcs light came on and I shut it off and it cranked right back up and drove it the rest of the day with no issue. Etc light will come on while driving and cause no issues other than the unstable idle. Today-5-10-19, coming home and start to turn left and etc and tcs light come on and it seems like it is in limp mode because there is a loss of power and etc light is now blinking, so I pull in a parking lot, cut it off for five minutes and it cranks right back up with no lights on and I am able to drive 5 miles home.

10 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 01/27/2018

Driving straight ahead at approximately 70 mph on a turnpike the engine and all power immediately and instantly shut off. Vehicle has approximately 110,300 miles on the odometer. Quite a scary circumstance. As I was pulling off the main freeway to the shoulder, I turned the ignition to start and the engine immediately started, seemed to run fine, and I proceeded on as if nothing had happened. No error or warning lights were on the dash. 5. 7l hemi engine. This could have resulted in a very bad accident.

11 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 09/30/2016

I went to start my 2006 Jeep Commander and it would turn over, but it would not start. I finally worked with it a little bit and got it to start, but then my power steering went out. I cut it off and tried it again and everything went back to normal. However, when I got going, there was a horrible gas smell coming from the rear of the vehicle. This starting issue has happened multiple times and every time the power steering goes out. The vehicle was stationary at a public place after it had been running for about 30 minutes.

12 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 05/29/2016

May 29th, 1026, while driving along I-80 in north platte, nebraska the Jeep suddenly, without warning accelerated on me causing an accident. I could not get the Jeep under control, ran off the road and into a highway sign before getting control. One witness even stated that it looked as if the Jeep "just took off". Been having issues with irregular rmps and now this. Why the sudden acceleration with loss of control?.

13 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 10/10/2015

Was driving through town with no problem. Road turns into highway and speed limit is 65 mph. Tried to increase speed from 35 mph (town speed limit) and vehicle started slowing down and bucking and hesitating. Pulled off road and turned engine off for a few minutes. Could not increase speed to more than 25 mph. Towed home. Left alone for an hour and retried. Still have same problem. Tried this morning, still same problem. Will need to tow it to a garage. Check engine light also came on.

14 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 05/18/2015

My Jeep has been giving me problems. I drove it to birmingham, ala for 3 trips and the gas mileage declined each time ( 19-17-13) mile to the gallon. The Jeep also started shaking and trying to stop, especially when stopped at a red light and standing still. I took the Jeep to chris myers in daphne, al to see what the problem was. I left it for 2 days and gave them complaints of smelling gas when starting the engine, shaking at idle, and low gas mileage. They did the diagnostic check and found multiple cyl misfire. Found spark plugs fouled and trash in the fuel rail. They replaced spark plugs & cleaned fuel rail. It was $607. 12. I drove the Jeep home and several days later it did the same thing, stopping when at regular speed almost having an accident. I called the manager he stated to bring it back & would recheck it, but I would have to pay for repairs. He also stated it was the fuel I was using, I have a truck which uses the same gas & have no problem with it. Could they not find the problem . I did not take it back because they were rude and I live 30 miles from the dealer. I did not feel safe driving the Jeep. The engine light came on and I took the Jeep to a local auto mechanic & after the test he found 2 of the O2 sensors were clogged, probably from the fuel line being cleaned. He repaired this, the Jeep still ran poorly and stopping when at idle speed. He checked the computer and found it was not working properly. He kept the Jeep for about a week and told me he would not let it go because he felt it was unsafe to drive, until all was properly working . I think I was ripped off by the first job since it was not working properly wen the first job was done. I think I should have a refund on the first job. I did not have a warranty because when the extended warranty ran I called chris myers 3-4 times and did not get call back from them.

15 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 05/13/2015

Transmission over temp warning came across the dashboard and continued after truck was turned off and back on. Coolant and temps levels are normal. Warning has continued to come on past couple days at 60 degree weather with no reasoning as to why. No electrical failures or other problems exist.

16 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 04/22/2015

The car stops when it wants rather if I'm in traffic, stop sign, red light, or interstate. . The wheel and the brakes will lock up. I've been calling Chrysler the 1800 number and local dealerships such as picayune ms and slidell la about the situation but nobody seems to care!!! they said the parts isn't in and that its the ignition switch so I payed out of my pockets for the ignition switch and got it put on with the money that I didn't have to spare but obviously that wasn't the problem. . Now my car engine is making raggling and tractor noises. Barely want to start. . Basically I don't have transportation to or from work and school for the fall!!!!!!!!! thanks a lot Chrysler. . .

17 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 01/15/2015

When almost stopped the engine revved up like the vehicle was power braking. . It happened twice on Jan 15, 2015 and again on jan16, 2015. . . It threw us forward and thankfully we had enough distance between us and the vehicle stopped at the red light in front of us that we did not hit it. . . . I consider this a safety hazard. It makes me leery to drive when it is acting like this. . . We did not have any previous problems with the Jeep before this date. I reported this to Chrysler and they told me there was nothing they could do about it. . I would need to take it to a dealer and have it checked out at my expense. We have not driven the vehicle since Jan. 16th.

18 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 06/22/2014

Multiple occurrences of the ignition being turned off while driving. I have learned not to hang anything from the key while driving because it is too easy for a knee to bump the key and turn off the car. It has happened to me four times at freeway speeds. It should be fixed before someone gets hurt or worse.

23 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 01/08/2014

The car turn off are stall while driving. Normally occurs when foot is slight on the peddle however also attempts to stall at high speeds. A review of the internet shows that this life threatening problem is a frequent experience and a long term reported problem. I am happy to provide this information upon request. Does there need to be a lose of life to obtain relief of this issue. Is this issue a result of demands by the epa to have these cars run at an ideal speed that is too low? is the epa also the reason for this problem? lives are at risk with no action being taken to protect consumers.

24 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 09/01/2013

Vehicle idles poorly and 4 wheel drive transfer case motor does not work after dealership performed n23 recall work. This is a vehicle with less than 40,000 miles on it.

25 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 05/06/2013

I've been having issues with my '08 Commander for several months now. The sunroof leaked and water got into the dashboard, shorting the radio out. Dealer fixed sunroof seal and radio. On the drive home from the dealer, dashboard lights started flashing. Returned to dealer the next day, but they could not locate a problem. Three days later, car would shut off while driving and all dashboard lights would flash. Returned to dealer, they were unable to "duplicate" issue. Tech from dealer drove car for 1 day and he could not find an issue. One week later, car smelled horrible of fuel and car would shut off while driving. Returned to dealer and dealer replaced O2 sensor. Picked up car and on my way home, lights flashed, car stalled and smelled worse of fuel. Immediately returned to dealer, dealer replaced a second O2 sensor. Picked up car, 5 miles from dealer, check engine light came on. Called dealer and he said to drive car until the engine "reset"(about 10 miles) or until light began flashing, then bring it in since they can not find a real problem. Issue seemed to resolve for a couple weeks of not driving car much, but then the dashboard lights began flashing again, car smelled of fuel and car seemed bogged down. Today, car barely started and was very bogged down. Attempted to drive, but check engine light came on and flashed repeatedly. Car would not go over 40mph, shook horribly and finally shut off. I am afraid to drive this car with my child inside. I am a disabled single mother and I need a dependable car and definitely not one thats going to keep costing me money. I have a warranty that I purchased with the car, but it seems to still cost an arm and a leg to get this car running for a few days before it chokes up again. This car has sucked up all my savings and still no resolution to the problem.

26 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 05/01/2013

Vehicle will idle rough and stall after 15-45 seconds after starting. Will not stay running in p,n, or d.

27 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 03/27/2013

My 2008 Jeep Commander overland edition has shut off multiple times while I am driving down the interstate at 60 + mph. I look all function when this happens; power steering, gas, electrical, etc. I have to make my way to the side of the road, put the car in park and restart it. It always restarts right away. I have taken my car in 4-6 times to allen samuels Dodge, Jeep in katy TX to try and have the problem diagnosed. Each time they keep my car for multiple days and then tell me they cannot diagnose the problem. I have called Chrysler customer service and am getting no help from them either. They keep telling me to take the car in to get it looked at so they can diagnose it. Yet each time I take the car in to get a diagnosis, I am charged for a rental car for a few days, but then told they cannot diagnose the problem and they send me on my way. Within weeks, I have the same problem of the car shutting off while driving down the interstate. I have researched the problem online and have found hundreds of people complaining of the exact same problems in their 2008 Jeep Commander. I am at a loss as to what to do now. I feel the car is extrememly unsafe, yet Chrysler is doing nothing to fix the problem.

28 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Jeep Commander

Vehicle would not start. Message on dash states "transmission over temp".

30 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 02/02/2013

This has happened to me several times in the two years I've owned this vehicle. Every time I take it to the shop the mechanics say they cannot replicate the issue so cannot fix it. First the check engine light will come on and no codes will appear when run. A couple days later (mostly when driving on the highway, or any speed above 30mph) I will be driving as usual and begin to increase speed on the on ramp for the interstate and the engine will tap out at 45mph. I will press the gas pedal to the floor and the engine will not rev and the rpm's will not increase. I tried to put the car in neutral and back into drive and nothing changed with the engine. All the while I had my one year old child in the car with me. Every time I try to research what is wrong with my Jeep I just see the same complaint from thousands of people. This is obviously an issue and needs to be fixed immediately! I don't care if they have to give me a new Jeep I need something safe for my family!.

31 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 01/30/2013

It is currently stalling, while sitting at street lights. Also, the gear shift model including starter and wiring.

32 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 12/12/2012

Vehicle shuts off while driving. Various conditions. Idling, cruising at highway speeds, accelerating, decelerating, etc. Must shut key off to reset engine before the vehicle will start again. This has happened at least 20 times with no check engine light illuminating. It has become a huge safety issue since all power is lost at any speed.

33 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 04/15/2009

Recall notice from Chrysler. Took Commander into shop for repair. After 4 hours, technician stated that unable to download program from corporate computer to fix. Need to bring car back later. This is the second time for a recall, and our car has been in there a total of 4 times for safety issues such as broken seat belts. It has been there a number of other visits, starting at 2555 miles, for defective windshield mount, defective gas fill line mount, and defective windshield wiper fluid pump. Previous hazards were handled, but resulted in a good number of days of at least 6 hour services. Now, after 4 hours, this service is not completed and I have to bring the car back again.
