The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that the center of the steering wheel was protruding outwards, and while attempting to sound the horn, the horn failed to operate. While entering the vehicle, the headrest on the driver's side was bumped and the headrest deployed. Approximately 2 months later, while entering the vehicle, the passenger’s side headrest deployed without impact. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer referred the contact to another facility to replace the air bags; however, the air bags were not replaced. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000.
Headrest airbag went off randomly with no reason while driving. It broke when it went off and cannot be put back or reset.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? the headrest in the passenger seat deployed without a car accident. Just randomly when the car was parked. Jeep dealership wants to charge me 140 dollars to inspect this and the air bags. Supposedly both have recalls but they have “expired”. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? it hit my husband in the head while he was sitting passenger. Now no one can sit comfortably in that seat and I’m scared the air bags are going to also deploy while I’m driving the car which could injure me and my kids in the process. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? no they are trying to charge me to look and told me it would be over 800 dollars to fix, which I do not have right now. The headrest is very obviously deployed. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? no were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no.
Passenger air bag fault randomly causes warning light. Tipm causing headlights to randomly shut off and flicker when driving at night. Both high and low beams. Randomly affects passenger and drivers headlights at different times, sometimes shutting off all lighting completely for a couple of seconds.
The seat belt light is on.
I was sitting in my car talking on the phone, parked in the parking lot and I felt the headrest hit the back of my head. I thought maybe somebody had hit me but nobody was behind me. The person I was on facetime with say and heard my head get hit and thought the same thing. Turns out it was the headrest that sprung forward and the small plastic clip that holds it together is broken. It came out of no where while I was parked and now I worry how safe would we be if I got into a collision. Additionally it vibrates now while stopped at a red light.
While driving home from work one day I heard a loud sound like a gun. The headrest to the passenger seat just deployed on its own. Took it to my mechanic to be corrected and he said it couldn't be reset the clip or a pin must have broke. Then on Wednesday July 28th I got a warning light on my dashboard pertaining to airbags. Puts fear in me because I need to know that my airbags are there for me if needed. C&h auto care is aware of the problems with my vehicle. They are located in joppa maryland.
I was driving at a normal speed and out of no where my head rest popped out so hard. It hit the back of my head and I almost got into an accident. It scared the living daylight out of me. I thought someone hit me from behind or that I got into an accident. There was no warning for this at all. I am very scared to drive my vehicle now. My neck does hurt at the moment, but no serious injury.
Passenger side active headrest deployed while sitting in the driveway with nobody in the vehicle. Unable to reset as the clips are broken, as can be seen in the attached photos.

They processed my recall and I picked up my car a week later. I received a notice that there was still an open recall on my car, and I thought that that may be a delay. I just received another recall notice, and called them to clarify that they had in fact fixed the recall, only to find out that they had not. I spoke with a technician who said that their records at first indicated that it had been completed, but upon further inspection, the recall had not been completed and I have since driven over 1k miles.

Power rear window intermittently would not raise after being lowered. Following a trip to my son't violin practice. After raising using the rear window power up, it raised and then worked fine. A few months later, out of the blue one morning the Jeep would not start. It was parked overnight in our driveway. Called roadside service and they attempted to jump it off with a jump box and it would still not start. Had a friend stop by and assist with jumper cables and after three attempts it started. Advance auto checked the battery/starter/alternator and all tested fine. Taken to dealer and totally integrated power modeule required changing and was not covered by either warranty or extended warranty I purchased when origionally bought. That was two weeks ago. Two days ago, out of the blue the horn honked. Then tonight, after being parked again overnight, I attempted to start my Jeep and upon turning the key in the ignition only the dash lights and radio came on x2. On the third attempt the vehicle started. First occurance was 7/26/2017 second 8/8/2017 following two days in the shop and a changed tipm.

I am writing to make you aware that Jeep is not producing a solution to recall 16v-668 in a timely manner. With such a serious problem as passenger airbag and seatbelt, the issue should be fixed by now. I conversed with Jeep/mopar today and they stated there is no fix at this time. The issue was posted to the VIN on October 1, 2016. If you could please investigate why this is taking so long and possibly speed the process up, that would be wonderful. We do not let our children nor anyone else ride as passengers in the car because of this problem and it is a big inconvenience. Thank you and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Received safety recall notice on 10/1/16 for my 2014 Jeep Compass latitude 4x4, it is now 1/5/17 and I haven't received any further information on when the recalled parts will be replaced. To be driving around in a car that has recalls on the seat belts and airbags makes me feel very unsafe as a driver. And in addition to not receive any update on timeline for when my vehicle will be repaired is extremely concerning.
2014 Jeep Compass. Consumer writes in regards to airbag safety recall. The consumer stated the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time to complete the recall repair. Updated 12/8/2017.
I been having issues with my seatbealt restraint and my newborn driving in her seatbelt. Several times I have complained about her car seat not being held firmly and flips when I turn. The company is yet to remedy the situation. As a mother is is very uncomfortable for me and they have not find a solution. I do not believe my investment in this car was worth my now lack of safety for me and my child. This situation happens while my car is in motion and she begins to scream.
A recall was issued on these two parts, recall s 61, on October 1st 2016. I received no notification on this recall until I went to sell my car to a dealership on 12/19/2016. I called Chrysler customer service and was told there will not be a remedy for this situation until April 2017. Jeep, and it's parent company, isn't displaying the type of urgency I should see associated with a recall that could cause physical harm to my wife or I, while operating the vehicle. Now, I'm stuck paying for a car I no longer need and will not drive because of the safety issue.
I owned a 2014 Jeep Compass until December 2016. I received a recall notice from Chrysler of issues with airbags and seatbelts making the vehicle unsafe to operate according to me and the automobile insurance company. After conversations with the dealership closes to my home, I was told parts to correct the problem were not available and the date for the parts availability were undetermined. I was left with the choice of driving a rental car and continue to pay for that vehicle for undetermined amount of time. I decided to try and trade the vehicle. I went to 3 dealerships to get estimates on trading, with one being the same dealership where the vehicle was purchased with final results of being told that the car was worth $5000 less than what was owed on it and I could not get financing for another, not a recent model, vehicle and the balance of the Jeep Compass. So I voluntarily surrendered it back to the financing company leaving a bad finance mark on my credit. The car is to be sold at an auction for what ever price can be obtained leaving me with the balance to pay. My questions are, can Chrysler, automobile manufacturer, be held responsible to pay the balance, and is there anything I can do to recoop the damage this has caused my credit rating?.
Takata recall - safety recall - s61/NHTSA 16v-668 this vehicle has issues. The vehicle could not be repaired due to the part not available for unknown date in 2017 . I was told by a manager at Chrysler that I could obtain a rental for the entire time at my cost, submit the cost at my choice; daily, weekly, monthly, and get a refund. This was an expensive situation and could have been very costly if I had continued. I was not able financially to continue renting a vehicle to drive to work and pay for the one I could not drive. After 2 weeks of renting, I was contacted by mail, that an agreement had been reached for Chrysler to furnish a loaner vehicle from a dealership, so I followed that agreement. In the meantime, I started the time consuming ordeal of trying to trade the Jeep, which added to the stress and nightmare. I ended up buying another vehicle, not a Chrysler, and the Jeep was repossed by financial company. To date, a refund has not been refunded to me for the rental I paid for. Each time I call Chrysler, I am put on hold, passed from department to department, then told someone will contact me with an update. The Jeep will be sold at an auction, still with safety issues for some other person/family to be put at risk. I am facing tremendous hardship financially now and in the future credit wise due to the Jeep being reposed. Now, I am seeking legal advice on how to get a refund? is there any legal circumstances that can help me with the cost of the financial hardship for the repossion ?.
