general problems of the 2014 Jeep Compass

The car broke down the very first day I got it! the alternator had to be changed I took it back to auto connection where I got it from and they replaced it. Since then the car has been breaking down, I have had to pay for out of pocket for a new thermostat, another alternator, hoses, fuel pump, and I have only had the car a yr. Now it’s making a loud hissing noise after I just paid for brand new spark plugs and it’s not accelerating and ver 40/45 mph! which is costing me more money to pay for a uber to work and everywhere I need to go while still making car payments! my insurance doesn’t handle these repairs. I need immediate help please!.

I was slowing to make a left turn and the engine began to sound like it was accelerating. A lightning bolt light, skid warning light and check engine light all came on. I needed to get it home, but the car wouldn’t go above 25mph. Googling says that it has a stuck throttle body. Have not attempted to fix yet.

The first time the situation occurred we were out of town. Warning lights appeared. The car had sluggish acceleration, noisy, rough ride, hesitating, jerking type movements . We thought it was going to stop. The message appeared "do not drive the vehicle. " my husband took the Jeep to the dealer and they were supposed to have fixed it. He was told it was the throttle. We drove the Jeep and the problem stopped for a while. It occurred again on may 25, 2023 and we had to turn around and go back home and park the vehicle and we have not been able to drive it. I found the following information; 2014 Jeep Compass among Chrysler vehicles recalled for stall risk. We have never received a letter about a recall. Warning lights came across the board.

The electronic throttle control light(steady) and the electronic stability control activation/malfunction indicator lights came on. There are times the engine light comes on. The vehicle would not accelerate, jerking kind of movement, going 20 miles.

While driving on a busy street, the engine lost power and throttle control, traction control, and check engine lights came on, my vehicle then loses ability to accelerate. A couple of weeks pass by with my car being fine and then it happens again except this time my car wont start back at all. Took it to a mechanic where I paid for towing. Vehicle was limp and wanted to stall. Now have to pay for new spark plugs and throttle body replacement. Mechanic said this is a common safety hazard issue with Jeeps and this throttle body needs to be on recall already.

I was driving my car and it was not getting any speed with the pedal floored. The car started making loud noises from engine and the etc light came on, check engine light came on which is the mil light, also the esc light,I was driving and almost got hit because of it driving fine speed limit and then down to less than 5 mph on a very busy street and intersection. There is a major issue as I had it in the shop a month ago for another malfunction. I was driving 55 mph and suddenly it just lost all compression to less than 5 mph. I was able to finally pull over to an area that had no shoulder so I was half in the road and turned the car off. Read the manual and said to cycle the engine several times to see if better. Ir wasn't better,and now trying to go into reverse, pedal to the ground it creeps 1 to 2 mph.

This car I bought on 9-/14/2019 had an open recall on it for a catalytic converter and was told it was completed. I now find out it is not and the car will not ho over 20mph. I have an appt with the dealer who is over 30 miles via interstate and it has to be towed I dont have tow insurance and it will cost over200 to get it there will I be reimbursed.

While driving on the interstate at 70 miles per hour my Jeep Compass loss power. The engine light, etc light esc light all came on as I was driving. This in turn immediately dropped my speed down to 20 miles per hour.

While driving, the engine loses power and throttle control, traction control, and check engine lights came on. Vehicle goes into "limp" mode and won't accelerate above 10-15 mph. This seems to be a recurring problem with this vehicle, but there isn't a recall. This is a major safety hazard.

2014 Jeep Compass sport lost power while driving on the highway this vehicle went from going 65-70 miles per hour to barely being able to get up to speed of 30mph that is with pressing accelerator all the way to the floor. Once exiting off of the highway the vehicle continued to lose power when pressing accelerator pedal all the way to the floor. The vehicle will start, but barley has any power to drive. This is very life threatening and dangerous! this problem has been noted and should have been recalled way before now. I have seen reviews about this happening to other Jeep Compass owners. Please fix ASAP! before lives are taken. .

Vehicle has issues accelerating sputters and jerks between 25 and 45 miles per hour. Had a mechanic check this issue and says it has something to do with a defective or damaged transmission. Vehicle has less than 100,000 miles and was just recently purchased from a dealer and had a good rating. Vehicle had this problem since purchase and has begun to get worse. This issue only happens when shifting from 2 nd to 3 rd.

Driving when I lost power, even pushing on the gas. . . The car slowed to under 20mph. A few lights came up on dash (check engine, traction control, lightning bolt) engine stuttered and cars were swerving to go around me because I had no power no matter how much I pushed on the gas. This is the second time this happened to me, I was on the highway.

2014 Jeep Compass lost sudden speed on interstate. Couldn't accelerate over 20mph. 4x4, �lightening bolt� , traction control and engine lights all on. Extremely dangerous when traveling in high speed traffic. Was almost hit by a transfer truck.

Etc lights comes in and the car the looses power. It goes limp and wants to stall. It loses control over the throttle.

When going over 30mph or uphill my transmission starts sputtering. I cannot accelerate. Frequently happens when on highways. There is a sudden shift almost like im switching gears. Rpm shoots up but car will not gain speed. Headlights will get very dim, inside lights will flicker. When starting the engine its like it almost doesnt want to start. Front window motors work when they please.

Upon driving on a busy highway, my car came to a sudden stop causing traffic to shutter around me and my now 60mph car jerked to a 20mph speed. This was unsafe and now the car will not move above 20mph. Thousands of people are mentioning this online and someone needs to take note!.

Car shudders when slowing down and seems to want shut off when driving a this happens when the vehicle is in motion in the highway and rush hour time. I took it to the dealer they said I need an electronic throttle body and gasket. The next day after they accessed my I received a red lightening bolt signal and the car stalled then it started back up with a jerking and shuddering in the street. I was able to cruise into my jobs parking lot at this moment the car us still there I have contacted Chrysler and they have opened a case number but have to get back to me on their assessment. So I'm out of car to get to work my boss after working 12 hours offered to take me home now I have to get an uber or lyft to and from work.

Car does not want to go over 20 can push on the gas and will not go faster.

April 15, 2018 vehicle only has 58k miles on it and is still under powertrain warranty. Pulled out onto highway in busy traffic and vehicle shuddered and lost power. I was unable to accelerate over 20mph. Oncoming car narrowly missed hitting me. Lightning bolt, check engine light, and abs warning lights all flashed on drivers panel. Brought car to dealer to be inspected and diagnosis codes are that I need a new throttle body converter. Vehicle doesn't even have 60k miles on it and the engine is still under warranty, however, dealer says warranty does not cover throttle body. :/ very dangerous problem that I've discovered a lot of other people are having problems with. :/ looks like Jeep made a faulty part that can result in a serious accident if someone loses power at the wrong time.

While getting off of pm shift, around 2330, I was driving and all of a sudden my car began to slow down only 3 miles into driving. I could not accelerate more than 15 miles an hour in a 40mph zone. The lightning bolt for electronic throttle control was flashing, then stopped, then my check engine and my anti skid(?) was lit up. I pulled over to a side street, put in park only to have my engine idle at 2k rpm. Thank goodness I had my phone and a friend with some car knowledge. Told me to leave in park and restart my car. Turned on and once I shifted out of park it happened again. He stayed on the phone with me for the rest of my drive home that took me 45min because of not being able to accelerate any faster than 15. A drive that usually would take me 15 minutes took much longer. Glad my kids weren't in the car because I almost got hit 2x by 18 wheelers coming off of the highway. Not to mention it was only 27 degrees out (without the chicago wind chill)and would have had to wait probably 30+ minutes for a tow or ride to pick me up had it not restarted. Beyond livid that there are numerous complaints about the same thing and nothing being done. Going to have to pay out of pocket for this fix, right before christmas, awesome!.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Compass. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle decelerated from 60 mph to 5 mph in the middle of an interstate. The contact was able to exit the interstate onto a smaller road where the vehicle was towed. Chrysler, Jeep west valley in reseda, California diagnosed that the throttle body control was faulty and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and stated that the vehicle was out of the mileage warranty coverage of 30,000. The manufacturer stated that nothing could be done. The failure mileage was approximately 53,900.

All steering wheel electronics don't work including the horn.

Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start and the key did not turn to on position right away. The oil pressure light illuminated on the dash board. The contact stated that when the vehicle did start, it did not accelerate beyond 5 mph for the first mile. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was told the vehicle was not in recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 22,000. Fe.
